Symptoms Gone, Questions..answers...

Last week I went in for some bloodtests -- I'm still waiting for the results of the Endomysial one.

IgA came back positive. TtG came back negative.

Symptoms were, gas buildup only in the evenings. Loose stool every once in a while. No diarrhea. Low grade nausea.

The GI dr. I went to is a real winner (meaning... NOT). Long story but as soon as I started to ask questions, they turned pretty nasty and mean. Not someone I want to continue to see.

I go to a holistic dr. and have been for many years.

But, I wanted blood tests for peace of mind. Well, my mind is not at peace yet.

My holistic dr. found several sensitivities with several food items. First it was wheat/gluten. He desensitized me on that one.

Then it was mozzerella cheese, then rice. All cleared out now. Don't ask how -- I couldn't begin to explain how it's done. :)

My symptoms have disappeared. No more excessive gas, no more nausea, stool is normal.

So.. I don't know. If my endomysial comes back negative...???

I might meantion too that a couple of days after getting the results back from the GI, I went into the holistic dr. - Dr. Morgan. Thru kiniesology, he too found a sensitivity to wheat/gluten. But, he cleared that out - through his methods.

Sorry, I think I got you mixed up with another poster.

I hadn't been eating gluten free before having the antibody test done. I started eating gluten free after having the test done because the gastro PA told me to eat gluten-free for 6 months. I'm now 3 months in.

I tend to agree with RMJ. Your doc took the reasonable and practical approach to diagnosis. All things considered, it was the right way to go. However, if you have first degree relatives that show signs of possible celiac disease, urge them to get formally tested before they start the gluten free diet.

It sounds like you have a very reasonable GI doctor, who diagnosed you based on family history and symptoms after eating gluten. I would consider you lucky! The other option would be to make yourself very sick by doing weeks of a gluten challenge prior to an endoscopy.
