Mario,

Sorry to hear that you are not doing as well as you had hoped. Maybe this is what your system needs for a while, is to pare things to a minimum and then start adding back.

I hope you get to feeling better.

Try getting some acidopholous to balance out the good bacteria in your colon and digestive enzymes to take with your meal to help absorb (any health food store will carry them). The amino acid glutamine would help to heal your gut as well.

but, why didn't my doc prescribe me something like that...I'm going back to see him next week..

I wish I had a nickel for every time I've said, "Why didn't my doctor suggest this or that...?" Believe me, you have to stay on these doctors left and right, they're just too busy with too many patients and simply don't know enough about celiac disease to begin with. Also, doctors generally won't suggest something like acidopholous, that's something you just should try on your own, and see if it works for you. I've heard it may cause more diarrhea, though, but that may be different for each person. I'm so sorry to hear you aren't absorbing properly, I'm not well either, and I know how that feels. Have you had the major tests such as floroscopy (a live x-ray that takes a look at the small bowel after drinking barium) to rule out a few more serious things? Or a CT scan? This is almost certainly diet-related, but it would give you peace of mind to rule out the big stuff. And both a floroscopy and a CT scan are non-invasive, so it's just a good idea to have those done if you're still having trouble.

Our doctor actually suggested acidopholus.. ok I can't spell it.. but anyway.. you should be able to get it in capsules at a good health food store. It should be stored in the fridge. I would suggest yogurt but most comercial yogurt even though it has acidopholus also has lactose which would probably be a problem. What are you drinking? I suggest apple cider and 100% grape juice both cut in half with water.

I'm drinking apple juice from rougemont its 100% pure, I also have the motts. Uncle bens sure is good rice, my friend linda has it very often, she replaces her pasta with the rice, she mixes everything thats nutritional in it...

I'm feeling better with the rice..I'm starting to have normal stools again..pheww

It's sad but doctors don't know a lot about natural therapies and how they can assist in digestion and healing.

I've found I need to educate myself and not rely on doctor's. I figured out I had celiac on my own after my doc said I had IBS.

Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, I wouldn't risk it:   https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/comments/1n2ehw8/cracker_barrel/   This app is helpful: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/

I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
