Does anyone know of an anti-emetic that does not contain gluten or dairy? I also need to avoid phenylalanine. Is Dramamine safe? I just found out that Bonine contains dairy... Cola syrup or anything like it is too weak.

It's not OTC, but you might check with your pharmacist about Tygan.

Why is it that when I first came down with symptoms - including major ongoing nausea, no doctor *ever* mentioned to me that there were drugs for this??? (insert rant here, lol) For over a year I carried around bottles of Emetrol (?) - a sugar syrup OTC thing that sort of worked.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is what finally cleared up the bulk of those icky feelings for me though. Might want to check out another kind of doctor.....

PS. Don't know if Emetrol is gluten-free - it probably is, but this was years before diagnosis.

I wasn't given any suggestions in this area by a doctor either. Sometimes, I have so much trouble with vomiting that I will vomit all day long and can't keep down medicine or fluids. I can't lose anymore weight, and I need to take my medication, so in those times, I would like to be able to take something to help prevent further vomiting. I used Emetrol for awhile, but it's relatively pricy, so I switched to cola syrup. I agree with saying it sort of worked (for nausea), but it wasn't ever enough. I guess I will need to look into Chinese Medicine.

I realize this post is old but in case anyone needs to know I called Pharmacia Consumer Health 1-800-382-7219 (the maker's of Dramamine) on 10/7/2005 to find out if it was gluten-free. They confirmed the product to be gluten-free & offered to mail me some coupons. I did call about a specific product & that is the only one she verified so I don't know if it makes a difference. The one I verified is Dramamine Less Drowsy Formula in the vile with 8 tablets.

Hi there - haven't seen you here for awhile.

Some info below:

Kytril: Manufactured by Roche. Gluten Free: Yes. Vegetarian: Yes. Verified: 10/26/04. Comments: No Roche products contain gluten as of this date as the company uses cornstarch.

Phenergan Syrup w/codeine: Manufactured by ESI Lederle. Gluten Free: Unknown. Vegetarian: No. Verified: 11/9/04. Comments: Company doesn't use any gluten containing ingredients, but can't say it's Gluten free since they don't know the source of the raw materials.

Dramamine Chewable Tablets: Manufactured by Pharmacia Upjohn. Gluten free: Unknown. Vegetarian: Yes. Verified: 2/10/05. Comments: No gluten containing ingredients are used, but cross contamination is possible. Claire

Your DGP-G is also high. The thing to do now would be to trial the gluten-free diet for a few months to see if there is improvement in symptoms.

Welcome to the forum, @Roses8721! How long were you off gluten before getting the celiac blood testing done? The testing is not valid after having been gluten free for a significant period of time. Many of your symptoms align with celiac disease.

Hello, I am feeling frustrated. I have hEDS and lifelong digestive issues but my GI PA is very focused on my celiac panel and I just want to make sure that she should be focused on that because completely changing my diet seems to have worsened my symptoms.  Symptoms are constipation, diarrhea, and acid reflux with spicy foods and certain foods like tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions. I also don't have a gallbaldder as it was removed almost a year ago. This also exacerbated my symptoms. I did have joint pain from hEDS but that was already treated with low dose naltrexone about 4 months prior to going completely gluten free. Endoscopy was abnormal but inconclusive; basically showed some inflammation - which common with hEDS. I don't have any vitamin deficiency.   Celiac Panel Results: TTG-A <0.5 U/ML Reference Range: 0.5-14.9 U/ML NEGATIVE: <15 POSITIVE: =>15 DGP-A 72.0 U/ML Reference Range: 0.2-14.9 U/ML NEGATIVE: <15 POSITIVE: =>15 TTG-G <0.8 U/ML Reference Range: 0.8-14.9 U/ML NEGATIVE: <15 POSITIVE: =>15 DGP-G 24.0 U/ML Reference Range: 0.4-14.9 U/ML NEGATIVE: <15 POSITIVE: =>15 IgG-A-M Results: IMMUNOGLOBULIN A, QN, SERUM 165 MG/DL Reference Range: 87-352 MG/DL IMMUNOGLOBULIN M, QN, SERUM 164 MG/DL Reference Range: 26-217 MG/DL   What are your thoughts, internet? Are there any questions I should be asking the PA? Thanks!

Help. I’m spiraling. Years of extensive symptoms:  What could this be? Years of: Mildly elevated alk and alt Fatty liver Random days of feeling like I’m coming down w flu but no fever and nobody else in house sick Intermittent diarrhea Severe abdominal distension Long history of cavities and enamel deficiency Sound sensitivity Anxiety and depression Low libido Sun skin allergy Frequent fatigue ended up seeing PCP because I looked 8 mo preg. Started gluten-free diet then celiac serology negative. SW GI Dr dx me w celiac as I had been in bed for 3 days after eating gluten after cutting. GI said not to do biopsy because it was clear what was going on and added to chart. My spiral is not seeing anywhere this is done and want to see if anyone else has dealt w this. If not celiac idk what else I will do. Family history or celiac as well as a death related to this.
