  1. I am so happy I did not have to give up diet coke and gluten-free french fries! What a meal!
  2. I am on thyroid medication, and maybe it needs to be adjusted again. I will have another check-up since I just started 6 months ago. Thanks. I am already on thyroid medication but I think I will go and have it re-checked to make sure I am getting the correct dose. And you are right-- if it's not one thing it's another. I spent half of...
  3. A friend of mine had a burning tongue and it was an infection. She went to an ear, nose, throat specialist who prescribed an antibiotic and it was gone. Her tongue was a little swollen and discolored also. Good luck.
  4. I am sorry to hear it. I have the same problem when I'm doing something for my kids-- especially with ice-cream. It just seems so unfair, but don't make it worse by eating something else that is not good for you! The cramps are not worth it. And it changes life. Our family life has changed drastically b/c of this crazy disease. Hang in there and feel...
  5. I think you hit it right on. There are good days, and bad days. I think I am going through bad days. I think I was feeling really good and then I started a new medication for something else and perhaps that is what is bringing on the mood swings, b/c I think I am gluten free. Thanks. Thank you for the tips. I think my protein consumption is...
  6. I cook with all of the spices you have mentioned (except white pepper and star anise seeds) at least three or four times/week and have no reaction. I use them with the belief that they are gluten free and have never had a problem. Combined with the two ingredients that I don't know, I'm not sure. Individually, they are very flavorful. You could actually...
  7. Unfortunately, these reactions do last. For me, it is immediate. Within 1 hour of accidental consumption of gluten and it will last anywhere from 5 to 7 days, sometimes longer. I hope your mom feels better soon. Having only been gluten free for four months, she will slowly figure out what works and what doesn't. Take care.
  8. Are you eating enough? When I first became gluten free, I was so stressed about eating the wrong thing that I was unconsciously not eating enough. After about a month of being tired and hungry, my husband and I figured out that I was only eating 600 to 700 calories/day! I was shocked! I thought I was eating a lot. Then I slowly figured out that I needed...
  9. I am so sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately, it is probably happening to a lot of people. I was denied life insurance because of my Celiac Disease diagnosis. We appealled the decision and the doctor sent a note explaining the wheat intolerance and that did not help. And how did you get diagnosed with gluten intolerance but not Celiac Disease...
  10. I just had my 3 year anniversary of being diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I have a family and I am so tired of dealing with this disease and all of its ramifications on a daily basis. How do I get over this hump? I am gluten free but feel so tired a lot of the time. Do other people feel this way? Any ideas would be helpful.
