  1. I'm just curious if you've had any allergy tests run? My son had high IgG, but the other numbers were normal. The doctors are still looking at celiac as a possibility (biopsy end of November), but both our GI dr. and allergy doctor told us that high IgG can also be a sign of someone being very allergic. My son has tested positive on skin and blood allergy...
  2. Are you taking anything for GERD? They recommended my son take prevacid to see if his symptoms improve. If they improve, it's less likely he has a problem with eosinophilic esophagitis, but if it doesn't, it's more likely. The sooner you can find your allergies and remove them, the quicker you'll get better.
  3. Hi Laura, I'm so glad you're being tested and I can't wait to hear the results! We had to wait 4 1/2 months just to see our GI dr. for our initial appt. and the soonest they can do the endoscopy is end of November! Hopefully, we will both get answers though and if not, it's one more thing we can cross off the list, right? (trying to find something...
  4. His skin test did show him allergic to corn, but the number was very low(5). I will absolutely look into this more. Right now, we are watching for any reactions and keeping a food diary tracking what he eats, how much/calories, how much and what he drinks, what time and how much meds, poop/pee and everything about it....volume, consistency, etc and what...
  5. Thanks for the response. Sorry you had so many rough years, but glad you were able to figure out the corn thing. Now I've gotta go read your response on my other thread.
  6. Poor little guy! I will try to read up on vaccines a little more. Thanks! Thanks Michelle! We have a health food store 1/2 mile from my house, so I will see if they carry this brand. If not, I'll order on line. His allergy doctor actually switched him from benadryl to zyrtec way back when. I can't remember all the reasons...
  7. All these links...mold & cheeses, feather & egg, etc....they make sense when they're mentioned, just never made the connection myself. I feel like I need to look at allergy testing the opposite way and test for the foods that I think he can tolerate instead of the ones he can't. At least if I have a starting point of what we think are ok foods based...
  8. My son's rash on his bottom area has been completely gone for a couple days now (and he doesn't start up zyrtec again until tonight, so I know it's not because of that.) We tried a couple different brands of diapers, but I could not find chlorine free ones...where do I get these and are they clearly labeled as such...is there a specific brand/type that I...
  9. Thanks Simply V and Ursula for all your ideas and suggestions! I posted the update under another thread -- Dr. Thinks in might be eosinophilic esophagitis, not celiac. I wish I could afford Enterolab. We hit our deductible and are taking advantage of everything though that is covered.

ARCHIVED Recommend A Doctor In You State

***ARIZONA*** Dr. Shimamoto, SanTan Allergy and Asthma, Mesa (or Gilbert?), Arizona -- This is the single best doctor I have ever known! All 3 of our kids are being treated by him. He is the most down-to-earth, easy-going, yet extremely knowledgeable person you'd ever meet. My kids love going to him and the 35 minute drive to his office is so worth...
  11. Does anyone know if this show will be on again and if so, when? I just posted an update on my son on another thread..."Dr. thinks it might be eosinophilic esophagitis, not celiac." The doctor's even more sure this is what my son has and I would LOVE to see this show.
  12. Here's an update on Hunter: We went back to the allergist for more skin testing (and to determine what else we need to add to the bloodwork). He retested everything on the basic panel as well as some additional ones we wanted to look at. He was allergic to all the same things, but the numbers all went up from just 5 months ago. Milk didn't even...
  13. My 2 year old had skin testing and blood work done several months ago and we discovered he is allergic to milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, and seeds. We are having additional testing done tomorrow for soy and wheat and the dr. said we will talk to find out what else I should have him tested for. I've noticed some problems with tomatoes and oranges, so I...
  14. We have no history of autoimmune Thyroid in my family. Looking back though, I remember my mom always trying to get a nap in in the middle of the day whenever she could, and always looking exhausted (she raised 9 kids though, 3 of which had cystic fibrosis...so I always blamed her fatigue on all she had to deal with). She comes from a family of 5 girls,...
  15. I'm venturing out to find some new ones today....maybe a couple different brands. Thanks to those of you who mentioned the chlorine as a possibility. I never would've thought of that. I've tried the Kirkland brand before, but I seem to run into batches of them that are misshapen (all the absorbent stuff is moved to one section of the diaper), resulting...
  16. Have you checked into eosinophilic disorders? My son is being looked at for possible celiac and/or eosinophilic esophagitis (you can also have it other places, but his is suspected in his esophagus). The symptoms mimic GERD, but don't respond to GERD treatment. My son is also failure to thrive which is another big reason they are looking at it. I started...
  17. Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, dear Alivia! Happy birthday to you! Ditto on a GI who's available via email.....WOW! Not sure what that means either..wish I could be of more help. Good luck!
  18. My 2 year old, who we suspect might have celiacs or EE, (biopsies in a month), all of a sudden started getting a distended tummy when he never had it before. The only differences are that he's now taking miralax and prevacid and we reomoved all known allergic foods from his diet. What would cause this to all of a sudden happen?
  19. We never suspected food allergies before this, but will definitely get him tested for as much as possible. Thanks!
  20. If you're like me, I understand.
  21. Thanks, Georgie! It's ok that you're not Ursula...you sound just as helpful and nice.
  22. thanks, Simply V!
  23. Just curious, if the blood test for celiac was done at the onset of symptoms, could it show negative? Does your body need a certain number of weeks or months before it would show negative?
