My son is only 2 and was going about every 4-5 days (for a year and a half) and/or in cycles like you mentioned, but he was very constipated...just wouldn't go for days and then all of a sudden have 3-5 very large BM's in one day, then the cycle would start agian. His GI dr. had us start him on miralax twice a day and it has done wonders. He's still not...

Mike, Can I ask what cystic fibrosis tests you took? Sweat test? Or have you had the gene test? -
ARCHIVED Will They Have To Postpone The Endoscopy?
azmom3 replied to azmom3's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It got postponed! They said with a cold on top of asthma, it just presents too many risks and not worth it. Disappointing that we've waited so long, but happy that they are so cautious and know it's what's best for our son. They are squeezing us in next week, provided he's over this cold. His fever came back tonight and he was so fussy and irritable.... -

Does she have any allergies (other than milk), seasonal or environmental? Any sinus problems? (sinus pain, drainage, coughing from post-nasal drip, sore throat, etc.)? Have you had a change in weather in the last month? Did she start any new medications that might have this as a side effect?

ARCHIVED Help! Behcet's Syndrome?
azmom3 replied to rez's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I personally am for the scopes if you believe there are multiple things you need to look at in order to determine HOW to treat him. I see it as the lesser of two evils....go through it now, but get answers and treatment quickly, (assuming you have great samples and someone who knows what to look for), rather than trial and error over a long period of time... -
First of all, I wanted to say sorry for what you've been going through. Having had a couple miscarriages, I know how stressful it can be, but adding in all the other stuff that you've gone through just multiplies the stress I'm sure. In addition to the gluten free diet, I would try to find as many stress relievers as possible (much easier said, then...

ARCHIVED Help! I'm Making My First gluten-free Shopping Trip....
azmom3 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm going to do my first official "nothing with gluten" shopping trip to Whole Foods. I'm VERY intimidated by all the labels. I'm on a very tight budget, so can't afford to do anything too outrageous, although I'm prepared for a couple splurges in this area if I have to...maybe for a good bread or pasta. Basically, I can't afford trial and error, so... -
ARCHIVED So I Just Got A New Crockpot.....
azmom3 replied to DingoGirl's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I LOVE MY CROCKPOT! I hate to cook, don't know how to cook, either put too much spices or not enough. My husband actually paces back and forth whenever I'm in the kitchen and is constantly asking things like...."did you set the timer, is it time to check that yet, you might want to add a little salt, etc." And rightfully so, as I've messed up way too... -

gluten-free is definitley the plan! Our whole family is going to do it and see if any of our other problems go away, too. Thanks, Ursula! -
ARCHIVED Will They Have To Postpone The Endoscopy?
azmom3 replied to azmom3's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The nurse said we need to have him seen for his eye by his pediatrician today to see if we need to treat it, and his temp needs to be below 100; otherwise, no endoscopy. We've waited so long. I just hope everything works out. -
ARCHIVED Will They Have To Postpone The Endoscopy?
azmom3 replied to azmom3's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for all the info! He does have horrible allergies...food, seasonal, and environmental. The blood test was only positive for IgG (29) and negative for the others. Both our allergist and GI dr (who came highly recommended because of her celiac knowledge) said that it could be celiac, but they are both leaning towards eosinophilic esophagitis because... -
ARCHIVED Will They Have To Postpone The Endoscopy?
azmom3 replied to azmom3's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You're up way too late, Ursula! He has been off all dairy, eggs, peanuts and tree nuts for the past 5 weeks (those are all his confirmed allergies so far, but we suspect many more and are having additional testing). What is acidophius and where do you get it? Local health store? Does it have any flavor or if I mix it in water, will he not even... -

azmom3 replied to imagine22's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I had hyperemesis with all my pregnancies until the day I delivered also, so I feel for you. I don't think people can even begin to imagine what it's like unless they've gone through it themselves. I remember the no tv, music, lights, etc., and the non-stop vomiting, IV's, zofran, etc.. This was the most stressful time (physically and emotionally), of... -

ARCHIVED Will They Have To Postpone The Endoscopy?
azmom3 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My son's endoscopy (checking for celiac and Eos) is scheduled for this Wednesday. He has had a stuffy, gunky nose and a cough for about 6 weeks now with a few day break about a week ago. He went through 10 days of antibiotics with no improvement (my daughter and I were both on antibiotics for sinus infections at the time, too). He takes pulmicort daily... -

I'm wondering if anyone with any behavioral or learning problems, autism, etc. has tried Dore centers programs. YOu can check out their website at dorecenters.com. It looks interesting, but I'm a skeptic. What do the rest of you think or better yet, does anyone have personal experience with them? Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Help Against The Gerd! (reflux)
azmom3 replied to allison's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
If prevacid doesn't do the trick, you should ask your doctor if it could be eosinophilic esophagitis (Ellen mentioned this, too). The symptoms mimic GERD, but it does not respond to treatment. It's believed to be caused by allergies. Cases of this are on the rise since the mid 90's. It can get a lot worse if it's left untreated if this is what it is. ... -
ARCHIVED When Did You Start To Show?
azmom3 replied to odcdinah's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
First of all, congratulations! Everyone is so different as you can already see from all the posts. I started showing at about 14 weeks with my first two and not until about 24 weeks with my 3rd. My sister was showing enough for strangers to comment on her third at about 10 weeks. Our bodies are all different and each pregnancy is different, but eventually... -
ARCHIVED Not Eating

ditto what almostnrn said...small snacks throughout the day as opposed to or in addition to meals. My son is 26 months and we have had to resort to this to help him put on some weight. It takes him a really, really long time to eat even a small amount and many times he takes 1 or 2 bites and says "all done." We just keep offering as often as we can and... -

Happygirl: Did you have your endoscopy done yet? Have they told you anything or when will you find out more? I've been thinking about you and wondering how it's all coming along. My son will be having his endoscopy (they never said anything about a colonoscopy....), in a week and half checking for celiac and ED's. I want to make sure it's done right... -

ARCHIVED Not Sure What To Think Of Test Results
azmom3 replied to amyb220's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have a 25 month old boy, who also had high IgG, but negative on the others. We are doing the biopsy in 3 weeks (almost 6 months after the blood test...soonest they could get us in here). We have seen both an allergy doctor and GI doctor and both suspect he may have celiac, but are actually leaning towards something called eosinophilic esophagitis or possibly... -
ARCHIVED And The Biopsy Says....
azmom3 replied to JenKuz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Eosinophilic disorders can also be a result of environmental allergies, not just food allergies. It's not always as easy to avoid things in the environment as it is in your diet. This is how our allergy dr. explained it to us...."High eosinophils in your sinuses is rhinitis and high eosinophils in your lungs is asthma....we understand how to treat those...
