ARCHIVED Alcohol
snapple replied to yozy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Be careful of gin, not all are gluten-free, I do know that Tangueray is, as well as Booth's, Gordons, Popov, Seagram's extra Dry. Also, if you enjoy gin and tonic you can have that as well. As for other alcohol, we can have Wine (pretty much all of it) Bacardi Party Drinks - Bahama Mama, Hurricane, Long Island Iced Tea, Zombie Black Haus Blackberry... -

snapple replied to snapple's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thank you everybody for all of your ideas and suggestions! Everything sounds so yummy, and there was a lot of stuff I didn't think of. Too many choices, too many choices...that doesn't happen often Anyway, if anyone thinks of anything else, please let me know. I am actually excited about making the food now! Thanks again everyone. ARCHIVED What Does Your Username Mean?
snapple replied to mythreesuns's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
when my husband and I were dating, he suddenly called me snapple one day. I looked at him and very stupidly asked "Are you thirsty?" he said no, so I asked him what he meant. He told me he called me snapple because of their slogan "made from the best stuff on earth". I don't care who you are, that will make you melt ( I know I did). Anyway, I used it... -
According to the Clan Thompson foodlist, Starbick blended frappucinos are gluten-free, with the exception of java chip, malt and vanilla bean. Their cappucino is gluten-free and their latte's, excluding gingerbread latte. I had a pumpkin latte a few weeks ago and have been dreaming of another one ever since. Hope this helps. Kate

Hello all, I am planning an anniversary party and would like to be able to serve only gluten-free food. Does anyone have any ideas for appatizer type foods and such? I really want to be able to pull this off so that I don't have to 'decontaminate" my house afterwards, and I don't want to have to worry about CC. Any ideas would be great. Kate

ARCHIVED Laugh Of The Day
snapple replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I am a hoverer; however my mother has a physical disability and has to sit on the public toilets. She says a little prayer every time she does, and so far, no weird dibilitating disease on her nether regions. I do have a story for ya'll though. When I was in college I got stuck in a nasty snowstorm on the highway for 14 hours. There were no bathrooms... -
ARCHIVED If You've "recovered" From Lactose Intolerance, How Long Did It Take?
snapple replied to eleep's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I went 6 months lactose free before I tried any. Actually, it was an accident. My incredible BIL made gluten-free blueberry cobbler for the 4th of July and of course topped it with ice cream. (Ice cream has always had a very nasty effect on me) I had some and then later that evening realized that I had eaten ice cream and that it wasn't having any effect... -
No, we didn't go out to eat this year. Although I did contact Sunset Grille in Duck before going on vacation and they told me that they have accomodated the gluten free diet before and that they would be happy to work with me if I decided to dine there. We did order in steamed crabs and shrimp! They were delicious. Even though they weren't MD crab, and...

OK, back from vacation. We had a good time, although this year was certainly not as relaxing as in the past. I had a slight reaction the first full day we were there, but it passed quickly and wasn't really too disruptive. I did have to watch my family a lot, and no one seemed too interested in reading any of my info...in their defense, it is vacation...

ARCHIVED Anyone In Md Or East Coast?
snapple replied to KaitiUSA's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Wow! We are right down the street from each other. Have you tried David's Natural Market in Gambrills? They have a whole slew of gluten-free products. Pachanga's grill on 170 make the best margaritas in the area, unfortunately I can only eat their green salad. Oh well, that's the price you pay for great margaritas! Maybe we could meet for coffee sometime... -
Feeling a little nervous about vacation this year . We are going on our annual family vacation to the beach, but this will be the first time I will do it gluten-free. Have I mentioned I'm nervous? I am the only person who is gluten-free in my family, and although everyone has been understanding, I don't know how aware they are of CC and prep and just...

ARCHIVED Are 'ore-ida Golden Crinkle Fries' Gluten-free?
snapple replied to amber-rose's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't think so. The last time I checked, it was a few weeks ago, I think the ingredients listed wheat. I know I checked all of their frozen fries products. I do know that a lot of the Food Lion/Bloom brand of frozen fries are gluten free. That and Alexia brand frozen potato products are gluten free; says so right on the package. Them are good! ... -

ARCHIVED Beer
snapple replied to JASON's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey Jason! I have only tried 1 gluten-free beer, Bard's Tale Beer. It's pretty good. Actually, iced down really well it is excellent! And I have always loved my lager! Anyway, it is back in production after some exploding issues (not supposed to happen anymore) but it is not sold nationally yet. I don't know where you are but would recommend looking... -
ARCHIVED Anyone In Md Or East Coast?
snapple replied to KaitiUSA's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'm in Odenton, which is right in the middle of Annapolis, Baltimore, and DC. I haven't gone to the support group yet; everytime they meet I have had something scheduled that can't be changed. I am glad that I found this forum, I don't feel so alone anymore Where in Fairfax? My parents live in McLean. Kate -
Thanks everyone for the feedback. My friend is so nervous about going back to school, how she is going to eat, what she is going to eat. I just want to make it a little easier for her. She is just one of those special people!

ARCHIVED "you Might Be A Celiac If....."
snapple replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thank you to everyone who had suggestions! This was over the top funny. At one point I was laughing so hard I cried. That hardly ever happens! You know your a celiac if your friends and family look at your gluten free beer and ask " why is your beer made with sour-gum?" On the same note, someone tries to taste your beer and your first reaction is... -
That is a really cool idea! Not only would it be wonderful to be able to send a basket to a very sensitive (celiac) friend of mine; but to know that I didn't have to think of what to put in it (she is starting back to school in the fall and I am planning to send her a back -to-school care package). Does anyone have any ideas of what I could send her? ...

I realize this is a little backdated, but I just wanted to let everyone know that Rita's custard is also gluten free. This was as of 7/3/06. They actually had a notebook of FAQs and one of the questions was about their food being gluten free. So enjoy that gelati! I know I do!!!
-
You might also try making your own smoothies. Depending on what you put in there, they can be extremely healthy, or not. I usually use frozen strawberries and vanilla soy milk. If you wanted you could probably use ice cream instead of milk. Good luck! I hope you have a very swift recovery.

ARCHIVED Bards Tale Beer In Md
snapple posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For any of you in AA Co. in MD who enjoy a good beer, Bards Tale is now available at Hops & Vines off of 170 in Piney Orchard. You have to order it in advance, but the owners told me that if the demand is there, they will keep it in stock! Sooo, start ordering! -
If anyone is in the Annapolis area, Jalapeno's is very willing to work with you so that you have a great experience. It was recommended to me, so last week we tried it. Their tortilla chips are baked, so I was able to have the chips and salsa (really good). They have great margarita's...but the food!!! It is mostly seafood, but it was great. The manager...

Vestee - How was your experience? I ate there just this past week, and altough the manager was helpful, I ended up with a plain ribeye steak and a side salad. That was it! Not only was there very little on the menu that I could eat, they were out of a lot of food on their menu. I was fine, but I don't think that I will go back when other places with more...

Thanks so much for your input! I will certainly give these places a look! If you think of any more, please let me know. I like my options
