  1. Especially to other parents with diabetic/celiac children I would like to ask.....My daughter loves the Dannon light and fit yogurt that has three carbs per serving and it is concidered a healthy choice and a great noninsulin snack, however, it does have that statement something like, "produced in a factory that also uses wheat." Now I know that many debate...
  2. Although I do not have an understanding of the tests (numbers), I would think he would mean that the biopsy results will be "interesting" in that it will possible help determine a diagnosis. My daughter's blood test results were not high enough to alone conclusively diagnose Celiac, nor was the biopsy result alone, but as explained to me, together led them...
  3. No advice, just hope she gets better. I think my mom may be Celiac too, but she will not be tested. Hang in there. I'm praying for you both right now.
  4. Thanks for the encouagement. I have not been tested for Celiac yet. Between my daughter's illnesses and being concerned and fighting to get my son tested by a proper doctor for GI issues (related to Celiac?) I have neglected my own health. The more I learn the more confused I get. My husband says I'm turning into a hypocondract. His father resently died...
  5. Thank you for the comments. My mom has hypothyroid and other auto immune issues, and my daughter is diabetic (type 1), 1 yr since diagnosis, and Celiac, 7 months since diagnosis. My hair is falling out, I've had a weight gain that will not respond to diet and exercise, irregular menstral cycle, sorry so personal, and most recently a tightness in my throat...
  6. I am in the process of testing for auto immune disorders after my daughter's diagnosis. I was currently tested for tyroid disease. The numbers look normal, but I was reading a prior post that said the thyroid peroxidase antibody test should be below 20. Mine is 23 and normal range says 0-35. I'm sure the endo will call me tomorrow, but just curious if anyone...
  7. The higher prices do kind of stink, but I expect to pay more for better quality food. Nuggets are processed and even nicer places usually do not make their own, which leads me to feel better about paying more for fresh meat and vegetable plates. I always hated to dine at places where my food looked so healthy and elabortate and they brought out over-cooked...
  8. I think you spoke for alot of us, MissTerry. I really have to go by others reaction, which is why this board is so helpful, because my daughter does not have gluton symptoms, only the intestinal damage. I wonder if some people must have reactions to several ingrediants.
  9. My heart goes out to you as well. We are also a military family and understand how helpless the doctors can make you feel. Please, trust your mother's intuition if it is telling you something is wrong. My daughter ended up being air lifted from one hospital to the next and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I had experessed concern to her ped. at the...
  10. Hi to all of you too. I'm new but been reading this forum for several months. I'm so thankful for the advice and comments. I can't imagine how people dealt with these things prior to internet and support groups such as this. Professionals mean well but nothing can replace being connected with others who are living it every day. God Bless, Kendra
  11. I'm so glad to have found this thread. It has taken me a while to figure out the nutritional values of the gluton free foods my daughter now must consume. We thankfully have mostly been a meat and potato eating family. After her diabetes diagnosis we made minor adjustments to her diet, then when we had to change to gluton free products it caused her blood...
  12. My daughter loves Van's Gluton Free Waffles. After trial and error, between them and syrup, we realized they are making her blood sugar sky rocket. She is also diabetic and we were just wondering if anyone else that may have both conditions, Celiac and Diabetes, noticed this. I don't know if the carb counts are wrong on the back or what. Kendra
  13. Thank you, thank you thank you. I will look for it. Kendra
  14. My daughter has Celiac and is diabetic. We are looking for a gluton free/sugar free syrup. We did use Cary's but not sure if it is gluton free, and for some reason either that or the Van's gluton free waffles make her blood suger go high. Any ideas? Thank you, Kendra
  15. This is my first post but this message board has provided me with such valuable info since my daughter's diagnoses, so hello and thank you. I am confused about artificial and natural flavoringings and colors. I thought we had this pretty much figured out, but in reviewing some information given to us by the diatician it said to avoid products with these...
