ARCHIVED Nauseas All The Time...please Help
krystal replied to valeriek's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I KNOW I have an issue with eggs - MAYO is NOT my friend. I suspect I might have an issue with corn as well. Keeping a food journal is helping me. I basically eat fruits/veggies/lean meats/white rice/baked potatoes and then when my system feels OK (I know the process for me only takes about 24 hours before I feel better) I try something not in that... -

Water. Water. Water. Drink half your bodyweight in ounces. (Bodyweight = 150, then 75 ounces of water a day) Fruits and veggies, especially beans should be sufficient. Sometimes fiber supplements can bind you more. -
ARCHIVED I Am New. Concerned Mom With Pics.

I can honestly say that doesn't look that much different from my (assumed) healthy kids. Now, there is a chance that they have it, as I am self-diagnosed after years of my doctors farting around and calling me crazy. Gluten free has made me feel a whole ton better, so it is possible that my kids have a gluten issue as well. However, my kids hovered... -
Yes, you are correct - that IS what I meant!

ARCHIVED Gluten Oops...how Soon Will Symptoms Onset?
krystal replied to Tim86's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I will start to feel it within about an hour - mostly nausea, headache or brain fog. An hour or so later, I get the gurgles and stomach pains, and sometimes a couple hours after that I get horrendous SHIVERING, but I am not cold (???). Nausea will continue for a good 12 hours, and the next morning - less than 24 hours - are the lower GI symptoms, not always... -
ARCHIVED New And Confused
krystal replied to sarahzona's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The gluten messed with my hormones and made me nearly menopausal, and one of the things that occured along with that is that I am always TOO WARM, to the point of nausea/sweating (I never sweat before this - just not something I did), and I get hot flashes. Gluten might be the culprit, but not the direct cause. You'll know when/if you go gluten-free... -
ARCHIVED Nauseas All The Time...please Help
krystal replied to valeriek's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am just starting the gluten-free diet for the SECOND time. The first time I gave up when my doctor told me I DID NOT have celiac disease, and it could NOT POSSIBLY be that. Did I mention I had already altered my diet before testing, and he KNEW this and didn't have me change that again before the testing? Now, I'm not going through the tests again,... -

One of the things I hate the most is the psychological changes it brings about in me. UGH! I get pissy, anxious, can't sleep (thank you, Modified Food Starch for my late posting this evening...) and let's not even mention the amount of time I've spend in BED so sick I couldn't move and DH had to take care of everything for me... for weeks on end... ... -
I don't think you're crazy. The doctors might, because they're mostly trained to treat each individual organ process, not consider the body as a whole. There's a whole new "alternative" medical field opening up called "Functional Medicine" that is specifically designed to understand the body's reaction as an entity. I am understanding it a little more...

Please don't do that.... Bird seed is not subject to the same FDA requirements as millet is with food. I'll give you a little story that will surely cure you of this endeavor. I bought a bag of millet for my birds, but was too lazy to put it out in the shed in a container, so I kept it in the container in my kitchen. Some time later, I noticed maggot... -
Even though he died, in the US it is required by law that these files be kept available. I would hunt down his widow/children and find out where those files went. If there is a doctor in the building he once was in, that doctor may have them in storage as well.

ARCHIVED Dr.'s Think I'm Nuts!
krystal replied to emileigh79's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
*raising my hand* I told my doctor "Of COURSE I'm depressed! I haven't been out of bed in three months and I can't SLEEP!!! Now, figure out why!" -
ARCHIVED Terra Chips, And What To Do About Symptoms?
krystal posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am a newbie at this. I have no formal diagnosis, but I'm quite sure gluten is my problem. I have re-started going gluten-free STRICTLY, and have felt pretty good for the first time in a long time. Today I was out shopping ALL DAY, and grabbed these as a snack: Open Original Shared Link I know everything else that I ate today was gluten-free because... -
I had to read this, as I have odd temperature issues in the last couple of years as well. During the day, I am always too warm. I keep my house about 60 degrees and can finally wear a long-sleeved shirt, but in normal houses (70*) I need tank-tops. However, at night I have to PILE on the blankets to the point that I can barely move, because otherwise...

ARCHIVED Very Confused...
krystal replied to krystal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think that I would really like to see a positive test. I don't know why the diagnosis would make a difference, but I think it would mentally. I don't believe I had the blood panel done. I honestly can't remember. I have family members that have a lot of symptoms that could easily be celiac (and a host of other things, of course). I don't know if... -
ARCHIVED Very Confused...
krystal replied to krystal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My medical doctor ran most (if not all) of these tests 4 years ago. About 2 years ago, I went to a functional medicine practitioner and she determined by symptomatology that I had adrenal fatigue as well as leaky gut. I went on an elimination diet, reintroduced things gradually (which is where I also began suspecting that preservatives are an issue for me... -

Ravenwood - I am reading your signature, and I noticed that you have "early menopause". I am 35 and have hot flashes and my periods have gone from 5 days to 2 days of spotting, one of so-so bleeding, then another day of spotting. I am growing hair where no 35 year old woman wants to, and have other symptoms. My GYN wouldn't do the test, because she... -
ARCHIVED Very Confused...

I have been a member on celiac.com for a VERY long time. About four years ago, I woke one morning and felt like I had a stomach virus. I was so nauseous and exhausted, but never vomited. I was certain it was a virus, until it lasted and lasted and lasted... I noticed a correlation that it got significantly worse around the time of my monthly cycle... -
ARCHIVED Symptoms Worse With Menstrual Cycle?
krystal replied to krystal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My primary doctor has been treating my symptoms, and HIS theory behind WHY the pill helps my nausea is that nausea is caused by muscle spasm (so is diarrhea, and part of celiac disease is inflammation/spasm). Inflammation and somehow spasm are "fed" by prostaglandins, which are a hormone. When estrogen is high, prostaglandins are lower, so you have less... -
ARCHIVED Symptoms Worse With Menstrual Cycle?
krystal replied to krystal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Really? The menstrual thing is COMMON? Here I've been thinking I'm nuts and this is my last holdout as to the symptom that didn't fit! All of my Dr.'s (haven't been to GI yet) have been scratching their heads at that one, too. Just started gluten-free this AM, come to find out the "Equal" I've had in my coffee (thinking I was being good on South Beach... -
ARCHIVED Symptoms Worse With Menstrual Cycle?
krystal posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am undiagnosed, Celiac is just a suspicion. My main symptom for nearly 2 years is NAUSEA. Keep-me-in-bed-nausea. The timing of when this started (quite suddenly) and when it worsened (the week of my period) led me to my OB-GYN. Clueless, he threw me on "the pill" (isn't that what OBGYN's do best?) and amazingly my symptoms got better. Until the ...
