  1. Wow! What a lot of great replies! Thank you--I am definitely understanding everything better now.
  2. I am sure this has been posted before, but I think this website is great: www.glutensensitivity.net It has a lot of great info!
  3. I would highly recommend checking out the website www.glutensensitivity.net I just found it and it talks a lot about "Gluten Sensitivity" in addition to Celiac Disease. If your son responds fine to going back on gluten, then you have your answer. But if he contines to react to barley, oats, etc., then you may want to consider the gluten sensitivity...
  4. I wish you would stay on the board to keep us updated how your son does going back on gluten. Obviously, you will stay away from wheat, but I will be curious about gluten. Your post is another example of what makes me curious about gluten sensitivity vs. Celiac. Maybe your son is gluten intolerant, but not Celiac. I am still trying to understand the difference...
  5. So can someone with only gluten sensitivity genes NEVER test positive through blood or biopsy, only stool? I tested positive through blood, but do not know my genes. My 19 month old son tested positive through Enterolab and has 2 gluten sensitivity genes, but no Celiac genes. I still say he has Celiac though when people ask because I think each diagnosis...
  6. Definitely sounds like it could be Celiac. It may be difficult to get an official diagnosis at such a young age. My son (19 months) just tested positive through Enterolab, but his bloodwork was negative (well they lost most of his sample, so only part of the tests were done--I feel for you about your son's stool being lost--so frustrating!). I would run...
  7. Can anyone suggest a good dairy free acidopholis/probiotic supplement? I see some that say milk free, but then have casein in them. What brand is good? Thanks!
  8. I must have read your message wrong. Sorry about the positives, that stinks! But it is good to know. I hope you find out soon also.
  9. I am sure this has been asked many times, but I just do not understand what the difference is between Gluten Sensitivity and Celiac Disease? Is the only difference in the genes or is there more to it? I was diagnosed through positive blood testing (I don't know my genes) and my son just received positives through Enterolab. However, he does not carry a...
  10. Autumn, Your signature sounds just like me! I have a lot of your problems as well. I was glad to read that your sister and kids tested negative through Enterolab. I actually like to hear about people testing negative because I was getting nervous that so many test positive. But at the same time, most people who test through Enterolab already pretty...
  11. Hi Autumn, My 19 month old son just tested positive through Enterolab. I was really sad about it, even though I kind of suspected it. He never had any clear symptoms, but my gut told me something was off (occasional bowel issues, sometimes a strange diaper rash and eczema issues). His height and weight are normal and he seems happy and energetic....
  12. Thanks Andrea! Did you do the finger prick through your doctor, or is that something you order online? Which lab is the best?
  13. Can he outgrow the casein intolerance, or is that for life also? I have already noticed that his belly is less bloated. I am debating whether I should run the Elisa blood testing that the ped suggested. I hate to have a blood draw if it isn't going to be reliable.
  14. Hi All, Has anyone used the Optiumum Health Resource Laboratories finger prick food allergy test? My 19 month old son just tested positive for gluten intolerance through Enterolab. Our ped had wanted to run a food allergy panel before I did Enterolab, but Quest lost the labs. Anyhow, I was thinking of doing this finger prick test. How reliable is...
  15. I have been gluten free for over 3 years, but have never felt really great. I am trying to cut out all grains and dairy as well as other foods I think bother me. However, for the past 6 months, I have felt miserable! I am so tired and my stools are just not normal anymore. Before being diagnosed with Celiac, I had chronic constipation for at least 10...
  16. Bully4You, Is it worth buying the Paleo diet or should I just scan the web for recipes? I think that diet is for me because I cannot tolerate grains or dairy. Do they make any good Paleo cookbooks? What is a list of safe foods? What am I suppose to avoid? Thanks for your help!
  17. Thanks so much! I am a little concerned about fats because my son is still eating jarred baby food at 19 months! He will eat crunchy foods or pureed, no lumpy soft foods like pieces of meat, potatoes, fruit, etc. We have been working forever on trying to get him to eat regular foods. It must be a texture thing because he will eat any kind of cracker like...
  18. What do I do about milk now? I know whole milk is important for toddlers. Will he get what he needs from Rice milk? I am not so sure about Soy because I have horrible reactions from it. What are my options?
  19. Thanks for the quick reply Andrea. I was just sitting here waiting to hear from someone . You are right that I know what the results mean--I pretty much knew even before I received them. I am actually quite thankful to discover his early because I went undiagnosed for years and have lots of problems as a result. I definitely hate having Celiac, but I...
  20. Here are my 19 month old son's Enterolab results: A) Gluten Sensitivity Stool and Gene Panel Complete *Best test/best value Fecal Antigliadin IgA 107 (Normal Range <10 Units) Fecal Antitissue Transglutaminase IgA 59 Units (Normal Range <10 Units) Quantitative Microscopic Fecal Fat Score 75 Units (Normal Range <300 Units)...
  21. I have read some of the threads about the SCD diet. Can anyone post some links on where to find SCD recipes that do not contain dairy? I know the dairy in the diet is lactose free, but I am going to try to avoid all dairy. I just need some substitutions for the dairy ingredients. I just ordered the Breaking the Vicious Cycle book and I saw that Amazon...
  22. Do you think that Enterolab will one day be able to test for all food intolerances? It would be wonderful to be able to find out about food intolerances through stool testing since the blood food tests are not always so accurate. Any thoughts or info?
  23. Hi, I am a Celiac Mom also (diagnosed 3 years ago). I struggled with the same thing when my son was an infant. He is now 19 months old and I just had him tested through Enterolab (still waiting for the results). Anyhow, I remember reading about the study, but I cannot remember the exact details. I think it said to introduce a small amount of gluten...
  24. Thank you Evie!
  25. Thanks Carla! That helps a lot! I just want to feel confident about the results. My son has exzema and occasional soft bowels that cause a quick diaper rash. I guess it is my gut that is telling me it is either gluten or milk. We all know Celiac can present itself in many different ways.
