I have been eating gluten-free bread and crackers and they make me feel sick because I am not used to eating them at all. I can't tolerate and fruit or veggies right now so I have just been completely miserable. I am supposed...

ARCHIVED Whole Foods
KayJay replied to jaimek's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Our whole foods had spelt bread and cookies they gave me some for free to see if I could tolerate it and I ate 1/2 of a cookie and got sick immediately. I kept saying this is so good it taste like a regular cookie! That was before I knew Spelt was on the bad list. So be careful and check the ingrediants. The bakers told me that it would be ok for me to... -

What would you do if you were at the fair all day (12 hours)? I don't know what to bring. I could bring a cooler but I can't warm anything up? What is good for things like this?

I think that the salad dressing is ok to eat. I have eaten there a few times but that is the ONLY thing that does not have pasta or bread in it. I love the olive garden so it has been hard not to eat there anymore. My grandmother buys the salad dressing and I have looked at the label and it all looks ok. But check to make sure.

ARCHIVED Generic Brands
KayJay posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know any generic brands that are safe to eat? I know Safeway has some but we don't have those around us. We have Kroger and Albertsons. The store brands are so much cheaper so I was wondering if you know if their cheese, meats, Sauses and other things like that are gluten-free? Thanks -
ARCHIVED Still Sick, What Do I Do?
KayJay replied to Thomas's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think you should go and see a doctor for sure, I hope you get to feeling better soon and find out what is wrong with you. Also I know it has been in the media lately to be careful when eating fish with high amount of mercury. tell your doctor that you have been eating a lot of fish, that could make you very sick. get well soon -
Sorry again I guess I wasn't beening very clear again. I have been diagnosed with Celiac at the beginning of the year. I had several symptoms, swollen everything, weight gain, vomitting, and so on and so on. I went to the doctor last year all the time I became so sick that I had to leave my job (on my own choice) but now I am feeling a lot better. I still...

ARCHIVED Is Anyone Else Like This?
KayJay replied to HappyCat22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I do not have problems with my eyes but I do know that symptoms can come on right away or days later. I always know within 10-20 min but some get sick later. -
I am 25 and I lost weight going gluten-free. Although I had started to gain weight before I was diagnoised. Now I am back to my normal weight. I watch what I eat very carefully. In the summer spegetti squash is a real good sub for pasta. I also do not eat bread or anything like that. I do eat a lot of rice, I eat rice cakes, rice pizza my family loves...

Sorry didn't mean to say that I was pregnant we have been thinking about it but more than that it seems that every time I go to the doctor that is the 1st thing they test me for. I guess I was more looking for a difference in symptoms with people with celiac disease and people without. For future knowledge Congradulations for you Kalo Thanks

Have any of you been pregnant but didn't know because you thought the symptoms were from having celiac disease? It seems that feeling sick, being bloated, and so on are all symptoms of both. Also did you have any symptoms that are uncommon? I am just curious.

ARCHIVED International House Of Pancakes
KayJay replied to dianne's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
They do that to make them fluffy! I just found out about that also. Thankfully from word of mouth not experience. But if you ask for real eggs they will give you real eggs. I would be concerned about cross contamination at IHOP. Thanks for posting! -
Good news my sister works at Papadeux's (I am sorry not sure on spelling) and she said that if someone comes in with an allergy to something the main cook will come out and talk with you about it. Then they have a huge book with all the ingredients to everything in it. They will cook in separate pots and with separate oils. (to cut down on contamination...

ARCHIVED Not Always The Gluten
KayJay posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had been feeling sick for the last week, just feeling sick in general and nauseated. I kept going through every thing that I was eating and trying to find what I was doing wrong. Well, it is not always Gluten I started thinking and went to the Dr. I had a UTI. --I think we are so used to feeling sick that it really doesn't phase us when we feel... -
ARCHIVED Tested Negative
KayJay replied to sick&tired's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you have been gluten-free for that long the test would show up neg. I think you have to be eating Gulten for a while to show up pos. You may want to try the Enterolab you can e-mail Dr. fine and ask if it would work for you. You can do the genetic test and that would tell you if you have the gene. --Good luck, Kayla -
ARCHIVED Test Results
KayJay replied to Jala's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am sorry to say I do not have an answer but I would be curious about the ANA levels also. I had high ones too and was tested for Lupus but they are now normal after two years and I have only been gluten-free for about 5 months. I did ask my Dr. and he said it wouldn't make a difference but you would think it would. A lot of Dr. told me it wasn't anything... -
