Thanks for the replies. Yes I am 100% gluten free. We wanted the prevcid but the pharmacy doesn't have the liquid kind. I know her GI doctor was going to try axid. We see him next week so maybe he will give us some of that. I feel like the doctors are doing all they can right now. Her ped. even called the other day to see how she was feeling and...

Congratulations! I had really bad morning sickness and I found that the only thing that helped we has some meds. from the doctor. I was worried to take them but too sick not too. My baby is very smart and healthy so I would do it again for sure I was told not to eat out because of hidden gluten I did eat out some but very rarely. Take your vitimins...

Well, I know I posted about formula before but lately we have been pretty much exclusively breast feeding. Maddie was diagnosed with Reflux at 3 weeks and then at around 4 months it started to get better. Well now it seems to be getting worse. She has had some really rough nights. She is back on Zantac now and we go to the doctor again this week. But...

ARCHIVED Teething Biscuits

Just curious my 6 month old is having a hard time tolerating foods. She is off all foods at the moment waiting for her intestines to heal. I am the one with celiac disease in our family. We went to a GI doctor and he said no wheat for at least a year. Are your doctors telling you the same thing? It is kind of neat to see someone here with a baby around... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Diapers And Wipes
KayJay replied to kempy99's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I use Target diapers and we don't have a problem with those. Maddie is allergic to wipes so I make my own. I cut up some soft paper towels. I think they are called Viva or something like that. Then we take a few and mix water and baby oil and pour the mixture over the towels. I only make 1-2 days worth at at time because they will get moldy if they sit... -
Thanks I should add it is for 3 days. I think we are staying at his aunts house.

Sorry I don't know where to post this but I thought I would try here. My dh's side of the family is having a reunion in April. We have to travel 5 hours to get there but I am scared about what to eat once I am there. I have no idea how many people will be there or anything about the food. Any advice on how I can eat gluten-free or what I can bring for...

ARCHIVED Ever Had A Baby That Couldn't Tolerate
KayJay replied to KayJay's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
hapi2bgf- Oh wow that sounds horrible. Just curious how did she tolerate one bottle a day of formula? Could you tell me what symptoms she had etc. with that approach? Right now I only give Maddie 2 oz tops of formula. TCA thank you for the offer but Maddie has to stay off Gluten and soy as well. I know they have some donor banks though. They can... -

When I was pg. I found som gluten-free corn flakes and ate those quite a bit. I had grits too but I was so sick that even the thought of grits now makes me feel sick. I have heard that the irish oatmeal is safe to eat. But I guess it is more up to you on that one. Congrats and have a happy and healthy 9 months! (or less now ) -
I nurse Maddie but so far she can't tolerate any fomula so I am glad that I nursed her from the beginning. I am praying she doesn't get celiac but she is such fighter right now I don't think it would phase her too much. She is such a strong willed little baby

ARCHIVED Ever Had A Baby That Couldn't Tolerate
KayJay replied to KayJay's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks I haven't tried the formula yet but I may have to. The doctor told me to wait a little bit but today we were back at her regular ped. office. She has been screaming and crying for 3 days straight. I thought maybe her ears were the problem but they look fine. They think it is her tummy. She lost half a pound in less than a week. It's not a big... -
My baby has bad reflux so for her sake I hope now! But that being said I had bad reflux too and I just read the other day that wheat is very acidy so if you have reflux you should cut wheat out from your diet. Maybe that is why ours went away going gluten-free?

ARCHIVED "stool Avoidance"

I have been wondering the same thing. My 5 year old nephew has that same problem. His blood test said no celiac but we all know how that really doesn't mean a thing. -

ARCHIVED Child Not Eating Enough
KayJay replied to chrissy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That is tough, Does eating make her feel sick? I was so small in highschool and everything I ate made me feel so sick. Before going gluten-free. Sorry I don't know the story of your daughter but when did she go gluten-free maybe she still puts eating with pain and just doesn't want to eat? That is how I was and sometimes I am still that way. My suggestion... -

KayJay replied to KayJay's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh TCA that sounds so horrible! I am glad that you got things figured out. It must have been so scary. Well Maddie went to the Ped. GI doctor today. He was very informative. ) It looks like she has an intolerance to protein found in soy and milk. It a long drawn out deal but basically we are going to slowly introduce this new formula to her to see... -

KayJay replied to KayJay's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
^Thanks we did not use any formula yesterday at all and Maddie did wonderfully. I think she must have been going through a growth spurt because today she doesn't want to eat much at all. All though she still spits up a ton. I will cut out soy from my diet and see what happens. Thanks for all of your support and info. -
ARCHIVED We've Been Invited For Supper!?!
KayJay replied to amymh's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I was just talking to my dh the other day saying that none of our friends ever has us over for dinner. He laughed and said it was because they don't know what to fix us. Then right as I said that a friend called and invited us for dinner. They were grilling veggies and meat so we said sure. About 10 mins. later they called back and asked what I could... -

ARCHIVED Ever Had A Baby That Couldn't Tolerate
KayJay replied to KayJay's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I gave her some more milk formula today. The doctor wants me to try it for three days. She cried a lot yesterday after having it but I wasn't sure if it was that or that she was over tired. She woke up screaming last night in her sleep never really woke up but just screamed in her sleep. I gave her a pacifier and she calmed right down. Today she screamed... -

Thanks, She used to get real bad diarreah we could never figure it out. It stumped us and the doctor. I kept a food journal but nothing seemed to be the cause. It stopped when she was about 3 months old and started at 3 weeks. We have an appointment for Monday at the ped. GI doctor. I am cautious about doing an endocopy because she is so young. I might... -
ARCHIVED Ever Had A Baby That Couldn't Tolerate
KayJay replied to KayJay's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
oh my goodness she fights us so hard when she is crying aches her back very badly. We have to hold her real tight and still for her to calm down. We just started giving her gripe water and that seemed to help some too. She was on Zantac when she was 2 months old but we stopped after a month I think it was making her worse. I have a horrible time getting... -
ARCHIVED Ever Had A Baby That Couldn't Tolerate
KayJay replied to KayJay's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks I do have a Medla pump but I can only get a few ounces at a time and only in the morning if the baby doesn't eat at all during the night. I usually have to give her a couple of ounces in the afternoon and then another 2 before bed. Thanks I will check those formulas out. Maddie spits up all the time. How can you tell the difference between a normal... -
ARCHIVED Ever Had A Baby That Couldn't Tolerate
KayJay posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have celiac and a milk allergy. I can tolerate some milk products but for the most part I stick with soy. My dh is allergic to peanuts and he can't tolerate soy milk at all. Although soy in products does not seem to bother him. I breastfeed our 5 month old but my supply seems to be dropping lately so I have been supplementing with formula. Only...
