ARCHIVED Going Back To Gluten
Aightball replied to Aightball's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Laura> Don't worry , the quote thing gets me too sometimes, lol . Yes, I should have been more clear, in that if I had what I thought was a reaction I avoided that thing. I guess my thing is that even when I *did* have something, even days later, I still felt fine. It's actually normal for me to have an upset stomach from time to time... -
ARCHIVED Going Back To Gluten
Aightball replied to Aightball's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have been extremely careful. The Twizzlers were an experiment and they didn't bother me at all. The flu has been going around, and I know that's what I had. Right now, we've had two of our 6 kids come down with it, too, so it's going around. I have been extremely careful over the last three months. If something made me sick, I stopped eating it. I... -
ARCHIVED Going Back To Gluten
Aightball replied to Aightball's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
HI Kim> I wasn't actually diagnoised with celiac disease. I've had a biopsy and have talked with a GI doc. My allergist suggested I try being gluten-free for a couple of weeks and see how I feel. I felt somewhat better, but not great, even now. That's why my doc and I decided that maybe that this isn't the answer to my problems. I'm getting... -
I couldn't find this topic anywhere, so hope this is okay to post: I've had a colonoscopy and an EGD and both were normal. A skin test for food alllergies returned no wheat allergy. The allergy doc mostly reccommended gluten free to settle my stomach. Now that I've been gluten-free since January, my reg. doc and I have talked and I am able to start...

ARCHIVED Going Back To Gluten
Aightball posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi all. First off, I hope this is the correct forum. If not, please re-direct me. My doctor and I have talked and have agreed that I may not need to be gluten free after all. I have ahd some diahreea and problems with an ovarian cyst of alte and have not had any gluten. I have been trying things here and there, but aside from Twizzlers, that's... -
ARCHIVED Please Help!
Aightball replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Jen, I don't know what caused it, but I've had the same thing. I had some Carl Buddig ham and then celery with some generic (cub foods) peanut butter. Another time, I had a can of fruit (small can), and some Honey Nut PB (Skippy) on a plain, salt-free rice cake and also had to hurry to the bathroom. With the ham, I also had stomach pains, as though... -
ARCHIVED Watching Diet And Still Getting Sick
Aightball replied to Aightball's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi all, First, thanks for the suggestions. I have stopped with the chips and corn pops for now. It's been enough days that my body is usually over things and it's still not. I found out that my mom has colitis, and am going to check with the doc about that. I can have some gluten things and not have a problem, but can also have a so called... -
ARCHIVED Gallbladder Disease & Pancreatitis. Im Scared!
Aightball replied to SadiesMomma's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Heather> If/when they do take your gallbladder, rejoice, lol . I had my out just about a year ago and I don't miss the damn thing! Good things to avoid for gallbladder till you get it out: spicy foods (I went nuts about that one, love my heat) excessivly greasy foods That's all I can think of off hand. My trigger was spicy food. The... -
ARCHIVED Watching Diet And Still Getting Sick
Aightball posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Okay...I'm still having problems of late. For example. I have had Corn Pops (old recipe) for breakfast the last couple of mornings (not this morning), and then I get a belly ache and the resulting diherra. Yesterday, I skipped breakfast and then had them for dinner and same thing. Today (Saturday) for dinner, I had a hommade hamburger pattie ... -
ARCHIVED Is Crosscontamination For The Sensitive Only
Aightball replied to mario's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The only problem I've had with Lays (other than a personal preference), is that they are so greasy. I feel like I've got a rock sitting in my gut for a while after eating them . Ruffles are the ones I like right now. They ar quite nummy and gluten-free! -Kel -
That looks like the email I got. THe only difference being that for me, my dairy allergy complicates things a bit. But, I think I can still eat there with few problems. I wonder, though, what's up with the mayo? I've never had a problem with mayo, so I wonder what's in theirs. -Kel

Christine> Glad to hear that all went well . It definetly depends on your level of reaction. I have a very high tolerance, so I can eat out with few problems. I just have to talk to the waiters/-resses and tell them my needs. I've not had a single problem so far eating out at various places. It's sometimes, too, a matter of experimenting and having...

ARCHIVED Not Allergic To Wheat
Aightball posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I hope this is the right forum for this . I was thinking back to my allergy testing in January...I am not allergic to wheat, but the allergy doc suggested avoid wheat/gluten to see how I feel. If I'm not allergic to it, do I still need to avoid it? Guess I'm just looking for something more go have in the diet, but while I feel great on this diet... -
ARCHIVED New 'safe' Food List,
Aightball replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just re-reading the posts in here...what about adult cereals? I just finished boxes of kid cereals (honey combs and alphabits) and am working on the end of a box of Corn pops. Honestly, I like these cereals, but before going gluten-free, I was eating things like Blueberry Morning from Post, or Fruit Harvest, ect, and want more cereals like that. I'm getting... -
ARCHIVED Mayonnaise
Aightball replied to S-EBarr's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Miracle Whip is also fine. It's just the traditional stuff and I've never had a problem with it. That is one of the things that I was thrilled not to have to give up, since it's my favourite thing to dip things in next to ranch. Due to my dairy allergies, I've had to give up ranch . -
Hey all I'm having fun *not* contacting so many of the resturants and then being told that they have gluten-free items, but it's on shared machines. I live in podunk Iowa, but where are places in Iowa to eat? We have a local chinese place, though I've never tried it...Ive had good luck at Hardee's and Wendy's. Also, a local resturant has things...

ARCHIVED Soy Oh Boy
Aightball replied to outthere39's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So far, I've had excellent luck with the Silk brand of soy milk. For me, milk allergy goes along with the gluten/wheat thing, so I have to be extra careful not to get any dairy of any kind. You might try Silk. If it keeps up, though, see an allergist. They can do a skin test for food allergies and this helped me tremendously! I am not allergic to wheat... -
Hello I have been gluten, wheat, and dairy free now since the first part of January 2004. I feel great, have lost weight with excersise, ect, but am wondering something: I have not had the blood test...and since I have a heck of a cold now, I might be going to the doctor to see if it's upper resperatory. While there, I like to address as many concerns...

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Have Si Joint/low Back Pain Problems?
Aightball replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks I feel great otherewise! I went from 278 to where I currently am at 232 since November. I have only worked out since January, but I started in November, then I got sick, so I almost don't like to count the weight I lost in Nov./Dec, since it was from being sick and not working out and watching my diet . But I do feel great since I started losing... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy
Aightball replied to abby82's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I didn't have the blood test, but I did have an endoscopy: It was totally painless. Seriously. The worst part was when they gave me this cough medicine-like stuff that numbed my throat. That was the worst part for me. After prepping you (IVs for fluid, ect), they give you that numbing stuff. After that, it's into the room where they'll do the test. They... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Have Si Joint/low Back Pain Problems?
Aightball replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I also have the SI problem. I have *thinks* (I have a head cold and my brain is fried ), sciatica in both hips. Mine is from working the nursing home for 5 years and doing all that lifting! I haven't noticed a correlation between my stomach acting up and the pain getting worse, just if I do a lot of lifting or do too much of my workout on my legs. My... -
ARCHIVED :( Doubtful Now...
Aightball posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have a question... I was reading a thread and it was mentioned that the definitive test for celiac disease is the endo down the throat...I've had that and it was negative. I am going to double check that with the GI doc tomorrow when he's in, but I just know mine was negative...so why, then, would the allergy doc think I was intolerant to wheat/gluten... -
ARCHIVED Daughter Won't Eat
Aightball replied to ksccurrin's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I hope it's okay to comment on this...I don't have kids, but do identify with not being very hungry!! Today, I did have breakfast after work since I was starving, but now, I"ve had some gluten-free cookies, chips, and more cookies. I will have a normal supper, but I sometimes feel like it's pointless to eat since I don't feel hungry. OR, I eat, get sick... -
I am very tired. Part of that is being up since 515 this morning, but still. I went to bed at 1050 and that's more than enough sleep for me!! Why would I be tired? I am gluten-free and dairy free (df), mom is being good about cross-contamination as far as I can tell, I am being very careful, but I still feel tired, esp. in the morning, and I am plugged...

ARCHIVED Foods Eaten Most Often (gluten Free)
Aightball replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I eat a lot of rice cakes, pb and j, cereal, tacos, meat, fruit, yogurt, cookies (gluten-free, of course), sorbet and soy ice cream. I am also allergic to dairy, so that influences some of my choices, but there's a ton of stuff out there to eat. The trick is to look, try to get into speciality stores, ect, and talk talk talk to people! -Kel
