  1. Emmah needs a wheelchair, she has modifications that go in her shoes because of feet problems and she's unsteady as it is so she's not to use her good foot at all either. no weight baring on either leg until her cast comes off. they don't want her to tipp over and break anything else lol. also her leg will not bend to allow her to into a stroller, that was my hope but not possible. As for scoothing, we have 2 large dogs, I don't want her getting trampled. they would trample in love "oh hey emmah, I'm walking on you that means throw the ball, come on do it, so it now" ya ones only 10 months and she's at a very hyper stage. no floor.

She likes her wheelchair. when she's not in it she's on the sofa but sometimes she wants to be in the wheelchair.. She went to preschool today, they were great, took her in and everything, I didn't think they would because someone has to take her to the bathroom but they are ok apparently.

  2. I need help, I went shopping today and nothing was open when we called. I wanted to know what canadian campbells soups were safe and broths and so on...can anyone help me?

Emmah loves soup but come on, 6.00 for a 1L of soup,...SILLY. Yogurts? puddings?(right now we use kozy shack $$$$) ^The dietician told me no chocolate milk for her they use malt or wheat or something.. I don't remember. If any of you canadians wouldn't mind helpping me out I'd be greatful. paper towels, soaps...Man I told my DG I didn't want to shop on the weekend....I would call the companys myself but Emmah's asking for me every second (broken foot) and she's too small to use crutches and has to be in a wheelchair and can't wheel it ....sorry stressed!!

    TIA

Oh ya and Momothree, thanks for the cereal advice. haven't tried it yet but it's cheaper. THANK YOU!!!!

  3. I have to admit I didn't read eveything but it's very hard for Celiac's to get enough fibre. children need 5g's + 1 g for every year of age.

Kiwi is a great way to get a good amount 1 kiwi is 4G's. kidney beans and such is 7 for 1/2 cup I believe.

carrots, unpeeled potatoes, broccoli and stuff like that are 2.

We are slowly starting to introduce flax seed into our dd cereal and all baked goods. starting at 1 tsp at a time until we are at 2tbs..over a 4-5 week period. it can cause the big D if given too fast. We saw the dietician again this week this is why I know it...I didn't going in. I thouhght fiber was added to everything..MY BAD!!!

I know how you feel, we've all been there. vent as much as you need.

  4. As we all know everything gluten-free is pricey, so ar ethese but my 3.5 yr old LOVES them..*so do I* they are Sooooooooo good.

Kozy Shack chocolate pudding, this is the one my daughter will eat. they also make jello, tapiocia, rice pudding and rice with cinn & raisins.

If there are not sut or sesame allergies in the class envirokids has a fruit crispy type bar.

kinikinnick makes oreo type cookies and Emmah's fav is fruit.

    Hope that helps a little.

  5. Ok so my scale lies...LMAO BUT she did gain 1 FULL lb.!!! YAY!!!! in 2 weeks, he was so pleased. he said "normal" children sometimes don't gain that much in 6-9 months or a year. She doesn't have to go back for a MONTH woooooohoooooo!!!! we graduated from weekly to 2 weeks and now a full month.

I think when we go to the GI in january I'm gonna have a fight on my hands. Our ped keeps saying he's going to want her on gluten and I keep saying no.

He said well why not? I said I will NOT abuse my child by making her sick. I don't need an official diagnoses that bad, if he wants one too darn bad. lol he keeps saying I'll have to fight that one out with the GI spec. Well I WILL. no way in heck, she's healthy now and happy.

He said in his letter to the GI that he did say that she was gluten-free and that despite the neg blood work he HIGHLY suspects that she has celiac D & that she was responding great to the diet!!!!

He did request an IgA Test and I will get that done Monday. Here in manitoba they only have to run the TtG because "apparently" it's the best out there. for blood.

In a way I hope it's a low result because then I can say hey no way is she going back on gluten for a stupid biopsy, here is reason number 2...a low IgA causes faulse neg's and that is your positive result but either way she's NOT going back on gluten.

    Thanks for letting me vent

  6. Bread is interesting that's for sure!!! I have a 3.5 yr old Emmah who was diagnosed through diet. When I told the teachers they said ok and a week later they asked how she was Dx'ed....I just said blood work. They really do not need to know. Aside from other celiac's, just regular people I say bloodwork. it's really not ther business, is it?

I've tried a ton of breads. I've tried hommade and store bought, I've only been doing this a month so I haven't mastered the bread baking. the bread that Emmah seems to like the best I get at safeway. kinikinick (SP?) tapioca bread.

I have a check up today to see how Emmah's doing and I spoke to her doc on the phone last week. He doesn't know why she had 2 FALSE Neg tests. I did tell him I wanted an IgA test run to see if that was low because that can cause FALSE NEGS. Which I didn't know at the time. Here my doc only ran the TTG and that was it, it's all they are supposed to do here now. So today we are doing more blood work. That IgA will be run and I don't hope it's low but it would explain why it was meg. REMEMBER though..like my DR told us, NO test is 100%.

    Good luck with the diet.

Like Liz said though put it in the micro. I also have to watch the thickness of the crust because some the crust is thicker and hard and Emmah's not a fan of that.

It's all trial and error. There are some great recipe books for bread also.

  7. I have only been doing this gluten-free baking for a month now and the first 2 times I made cupcakes they were good, they were moist and yummy...maybe because one was banana and one was strawberry. this weekend I made mint chocolate chip ones..GARBAGE IMO. they were dry and hard and nasty. Emmah was not impressed

Does anyone have any cupcake/ muffin recipes they wouldn't mind sharing with me?

    Thanks
