  1. Hey everyone. I'm in the process of wirting a paper and the ending is tripping me up a bit. Its all my opinion but I don't even know how to think about it if that makes any sense. Anyway, I have to apply deductive reasoning and social contract theory to justify a limited government. I'm confused about how to answer what is human nature? what is it like? and...
  2. I'm just wondering if anyone else has delayed symptoms after eating gluten. Last week I was REALLY bad and cheated on my gluten-free diet by eating cake at college. I was stressed, had no more work, and felt like celebrating spring break. The problem was I felt fine initially, so the next night when my friends were eating my favorite cake I decided to join...
  3. I am in college as well and have been eating gluten free here for a year. Sometimes it is hard to find something to eat, but for the most part you will always find something. I would definitely get the lowest meal plan though. Once you talk to the dietician, I'm sure they will try to accomodate to your needs as best they can. If they have something I cannot...
  4. It was on in New York.
  5. Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you all know that Celiac Disease was mentioned in the 11pm news last night. They were talking about the hardest diseases to diagnose and Celiac was one of three to be mentioned. They didn't say very much other then that and I didn't see it myself (I was on the phone with my mom and she saw it) but I was still exicted that...
  6. From what I gather (although I could be wrong) Smirnoff Vodkas are gluten free because they are corn based. When I drink I have the green apple flavor and I do not get sick. However, Smirnoff Ice has malt in it therefore it does contain gluten. I tried drinking a Smirnoff Ice over Christmas and I did get instantly sick. So I do believe it contains gluten...
  7. Today I woke up to find out that my college has cancelled classes due to the snow and ice. I was so happy but then my RA came to the room and told us that they ordered pizza for the whole building. I got so upset!!! I was almost going to get some and eat it anyway. I obvioiusly did not eat it but I was so mad and its killing me right now to watch my roommates...
  8. I have had both the Celiac bloodwork panel and genetic test done and the results for both were negative. I decided I am just going to stick to the diet without a dianosis however I want to see a specialist who knows about the diet I am choosing. I am wondering though if I would be able to see a Celiac Specialist if my tests are negative. My mom seems to think...
  9. Hey! I'm a sophomore in college and I also just started eating gluten free this past semester. Fortunately, I have not had a problem dealing with anything. As for roommates, that can be hard just because most people do not understand Celiac at all. I live with two of my closest friends at school this year and they are very understanding. I think the best...
  10. Hey everyone. At the end of this past semester I asked the dietician at my college if I would be able to bring back a box filled with gluten-free meals to store in their freezer. She did not hesitate to say yes, which made my day, but I haven't been able to come up with many meals. So far I have chili, chicken soup, and beef vegetable soup. The school has...
  11. Since September I have put myself on a gluten free diet and now my doctor wants me to get a biopsy. He told me to reintroduce gluten into my diet for two weeks. Is two weeks enough time to get positive results? It seems to me like a short period of time.
  12. I'm not sure whether I even have a gluten related illness but I do know that a gluten free diet is for the most part helping my stomach problems. Lately, when my stomach hurts I notice I lose feeling in the back of my mouth. I know I can swallow and I can drink fine I just get a weird sensation. I haven't eaten anything with gluten for at least two weeks...
  13. Thanks for responding. I thought Boar's Head was gluten free but I wasn't sure. Has anyone heard about the brand Berk's or the Perdue Turkey? Those are the brands my college has and the dietician said that I can eat the smoked and roasted turkey, the ham, and the swiss and provelone cheese. Sometimes I don't think she knows what shes talking about though...
  14. Hey Everyone! Perviously the dietician at my college told me that most of the lunch meat they serve is gluten free however, I was talking to my aunt who eats gluten free and she told me that only a few brands have gluten free cold cuts. Is this true? Does anyone know of safe brands of lunch meat?
  15. This morning I randomly woke up thinking about Rice Krispies and then I went online to look at the ingredients to see why I have not been eating them. I really don't see anything bad in them, however I am horrible at reading labels. Does anyone know if Rice Krispies are okay to eat? and if they aren't what the ingredient is that contains the gluten? Thanks
  16. Tonight at dinner my friends were battling with me telling me that fries could not have gluten in them because they came from potatoes. They kept saying "you eat mashed potatoes all the time, this is the same thing". They were looking at me as if I had 5 heads and they now have me second guessing myself. So my question is, do fries have gluten in them?
  17. I was looking at some of my cold medications and I was just wondering if anyone knew if any of the typical cold meds were gluten free?
  18. Hi Everyone. I've been reading the boards for a few months now but this is the first time I am posting. I am new to this gluten free thing. I am not diagnosed although I have been tested and I was told by the dietian at my college to try going wheat free. It ended up helping a ton and I've gone completely gluten free. As I am reading this thread I am confused...
