  1. I see people asking all the time for feedback on what you do that helps get over glutenings and would really like to answer this, but not sure how because with what I take that I have found to work for me are products of a company that I am associated with. Any good way to approach this because I'm not here to "troll" for people, but at the same time would...
  2. I looked it up and this sounds an awful lot like what was going on. I have a Dr. appt. coming up and I'll mention it, but I think it will just fall in the category of odd symptoms I've had. I'm so thankful that it stopped because it really is incredibly painful. The description of wind blowing hurting the face really fits. We were in a store where the...
  3. I guess it's good to know I'm not the only one that gets this and it could be associated with gluten. Bit relieved as it was such an odd symptom and very relieved that it went away! This is the kind of thing that would happen before going gluten free. I would get all these weird symptoms, but nothing was ever consistent. By the time one thing went away...
  4. Thank you so much to everyone that replied. I seem to finally be over it thank goodness. It looks like this one lasted 2 weeks. Now I have to catch up on cleaning the house, laundry, bills etc. Seems like when this happens I just go into "survival mode". Hmmm, and people wonder why we're so careful when it comes to gluten... Sometimes it just helps...
  5. Just have to add that I called and talked with the nurse at Enterolab because so many people in my family got tested and the results would be borderline postive except for one person that was borderline negative. My question to her was if it was possible that showed a trend towards possible low IGA since it is genetic. She thought it might so I went to...
  6. Very true, LOL. Everything about the meat is so different. When we lived in VA my parents would bring us some frozen meat when they visited. The only thing I could use from the store was hamburger meat and that not very often. I guess I wonder what is the exact reason it's so different that it would actually make you sick if you're not used to it? Is...
  7. I have no idea why, but Tyson chicken breasts have always made me feel sick. My daughter also said she felt sick after eating them so we no longer buy them. There's a butcher down the street from us where they sell it fresh so we buy some there and that's been fine. Also, my parents have a farm so we raise some there and have them butchered and we have...
  8. Well, I had the blood test done 4 years ago and it came back negative. I did Enterolab last year and that came back positive. The dietary response has been amazing and I'm so much better now after having been sick for years. The closest I have to a diagnosis is the internal med. Dr. I saw said the "proof is in the pudding" and said I have gluten sensitivity...
  9. I finally called the Outback where they told me the mushrooms were not gluten free and talked with the manager. Very frustrating that the night we were there I kept telling them the Alice Springs Chicken mushrooms were o.k., but when I got my order it had no mushrooms. Told the waiter again that they are supposed to be o.k. who went and talked with the...
  10. I had an episode a few weeks ago where the entire left side of my face was in terrible pain. It was like all the nerves on one side were hypersensitive. Even blinking on that side would hurt. It really was the entire left side of my head and not just the face. It went away after a couple days and I had had an extended period of having gluten the previous...
  11. how long does it really seem to take to get over when you've accidentally had gluten? I had some on accident about a week ago. It was Wyler's bouillon and from the label I think it was because it's produced on the same machines that wheat products are. At first the reaction didn't seem too bad and I cycled through the neuro. symptoms very quickly so I...
  12. I have the same genes that you do. While neither one is considered a celiac gene what I've found from all the reading I've done is that the 7 can act like one and the 5 is more likely to be associated with the neurological related syptoms. My brother does have one of the actual celiac genes, but I've found that my symptoms actually tend to be worse than...
  13. They were very clear that it was the mushrooms that were on top of the Alice Springs Chicken that were the problem in this instance. I had the waiter double check for me because I've never had a problem with it when I ordered there before. I think that what Angie mentioned above is what happened. That for whatever reason they used the seasoned butter balls...
  14. That must be what it was because he did say something about butter and spices. I'm wondering if they just started doing that as I've had it there before with no problems, but it's been quite a long time since I've eaten there. I must say it's just not the same without the mushrooms...
  15. Thought I would pass this on since it was a big surprise to me tonight. Went out to eat and ordered the Alice Springs Chicken which came with no mushrooms. I asked the waiter and he went back to check on it and was told that the mushrooms have gluten because of the seasoning from being sauteed. He wasn't too clear, but that was the gist of it. The...
  16. Regarding the sliced meat, I used to work in a place years ago where part of the business was slicing deli meat. I'm sure it is different in different places, but the blade wasn't cleaned until the end of the night because you had to take the whole outer section off to really clean it. I was just talking about this the other day with my best friend because...
  17. Thank you for your reply. I actually had the celiac panel done 4 years ago which tested for the IgG as well which came back negative and then I tested positive through Enterolab last Nov. In some ways I wish I had run the celiac panel again since it was so long ago, but when I began to cut out all gluten I realized I wasn't eating all that much in the first...
  18. I'm getting my blood drawn to check for IGA deficiency. They could not find the test listed under total serum IGA or total IGA, but it seems to be listed as Immunoglobulin A (IGA). That is what the order is for and I would like to double check and make sure it's right. I think it is, but would feel better if someone here could verify it for me )
  19. You could try calling Enterolab and see what they think. I talked with the nurse there and she was very helpful. I was asking her if there was a possibility of low IGA or IGA def. since with all family members that tested it's been either borderline negative or barely positive. She thinks it is a possibility so I got an order for the total IGA yesterday...
  20. If it helps at all I had the blood test done 4 years ago and at the time it was negative. However, after testing with Enterolab and getting a positive from them I have been gluten free since Nov. with amazing results. I'm no longer tired all the time, my muscles don't hurt nearly so much as they used to, my mind functions so much better, I don't shake all...
  21. I'll try to give some background first. I became very sick after my dd was born 8 years ago. Had all kinds of tests including thyroid, celiac, Rheumatoid Arthritis, MRI etc. Everything came back negative. Then I tested via Enterolab last Oct. and it came back positive with Antigliadin IgA 11 Frustrating that the celiac panel came back negative before...
  22. Your D levels are very much like mine were when I tested low. I was 21 with the normal range being 20-100. I felt terrible just from that alone. I was put on D drops 4/day and I think I retested 2-3 months later. Got it into the 70's. The supplement I was given was this one: Open Original Shared Link I think it's palatable which is more than I...
  23. Looks like this was the problem. I had my meds adjusted and I am feeling so much better. Not sure yet what the final dose will be as I'm still playing with it, but it feels great to be lowering it for the first time in years. Great to know this diet is doing me good!
  24. There was a thread related to this under the weight loss section called Is This Possible? You may want to check that out. One of my main symptoms has been water retention and I found that if I accidentally consume gluten I swell. All my water is not gone yet, but it's amazing after 8 years of this to have a connection.
  25. gluten free due to increased absorption, about how long after being gluten free did you have to do it? I've been having some problems lately and I'm beginning to wonder if it's because now that I'm absorbing more my med dose could be too high. I'm going to call the Drs. office tomorrow to ask and hopefully it's that simple since that's a very easy fix!
