ARCHIVED Us Biotek Lab Results
nama shivaya replied to nama shivaya's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks, Andrea. It's kinda discouraging to see all the things I tested so positive for (ALL milk & wheat), but on the positive side, at least I now am better informed. I can do it. Actually, I had been drinking blueberry tea for the past few weeks since I can't drink coffee any more. I've been having anxiety as well. Maybe it'll abate now that... -
ARCHIVED Us Biotek Lab Results
nama shivaya posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Guys: It's been a while, but wanted to share some news and ask for input. My integrative med doc ordered a blood test from US BioTek and the results were a bit startling and conclusive. All dairy tested positive for IgG and IgE off the chart, as did all wheat, spelt, sesame, egg white & yolk, coffee and BLUEBERRIES. (Blueberries???) The... -
ARCHIVED Hi Everyone -- My Journey
nama shivaya replied to nama shivaya's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! Yeah, the "pimples" were DH, I'm sure of it. My integrative med doc thought so, too. The mainstream dermatologist missed it. The integrative doc (Patty Ammon) has been dx'd with ms and has a lot of expertise in that area. She said she sees a lot of connection between unhealthy guts and immune/inflammation... -
ARCHIVED Hi Everyone -- My Journey
nama shivaya posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Everyone: I'm popping in to give you all an update. I originally came to this forum in Jan/Feb 2007 with some neurological issues such as gait problems and a spastic right hand. What I learned on this board was invaluable! I learned to listen to myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had felt for over a month that I should stop eating certain things like... -
ARCHIVED Dried Fruit Contaminated With Gluten?
nama shivaya posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi All: I was doing really well, then introduced some dried mangoes I got from the health food store and started feeling yukky. At first I thought it was from eating too many of the sickly sweet things, but my sinuses started acting up after 2 1/2 months of being gluten-free and no sinus headaches. Have any of you heard of dried fruit being contaminated... -
ARCHIVED Problems With Herbal Tea?!?!?!?!

Seems Eleuthero is the new name for American Ginseng. Hmmm. -
ARCHIVED Problems With Herbal Tea?!?!?!?!
nama shivaya posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Everyone: I bought a new tea: Celestial Seasonings' Tension Tamer. As soon as I drank half my cup, my tummy began to cramp a bit, and then came the D. Do any of you have intolerances to any of the following ingredients? Eleuthero, peppermint, cinnamon, ginger, chamomile, lemon grass, licorice, catnip, tilia flowers, hops. I'm not sure what... -
Any infection, as far as I'm aware, causes inflammation. I'm no expert on hemmies, tho, so I don't know.

ARCHIVED Certain Foods Upset You While Others Dont?
nama shivaya replied to erica33's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Erica: Personally I think it's a good idea to not reintroduce foods until your gut has had some time to heal. My integrative med doc recommended I stay on the fruits/veggies/poultry/fish diet for 3 months, and then try to introduce one type of food a week, beginning with nuts/seeds, then legumes, then other proteins, etc. I've been gluten... -
ARCHIVED B12 Shots
nama shivaya replied to nama shivaya's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Wow, thanks for the great input! My integrative med doc has given me all the info on the best B12 to take, and it's my choice to do subling or injection. Maybe I'll try the sublingual first. -
ARCHIVED Food For Thought
nama shivaya replied to nama shivaya's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was going to mention the hijacking of my thread, but was getting a kick out of the debate, so let it slide. BTW, coconut oil has more saturated fat than butter. I think that is why the american heart assoc. doesn't recommend it's use as a common cooking agent. I understand from this forum and my own research that coconut oil has a higher smoking... -
ARCHIVED B12 Shots
nama shivaya replied to nama shivaya's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
so how much is your injections? 1 cc? (i wasn't really paying attention to the doc). Are the sublingual B12s comparable, really? Geez, if they are what the heck am I thinking of giving myself shots for??? -
ARCHIVED Trying A New Approach Since No Improvement In Sx
nama shivaya replied to WakeupNurse's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been eating veggies/fruits & poultry/fish now for over a month and I have to agree that IT'S HARD! The up-side to this is that my gut is healing. I can tell. I also started taking a pro-biotic (gotta get the refrigerated kind and check the label for ingredients), and am taking Glutamine to help with the gut-healing process (my integrative... -
ARCHIVED B12 Shots
nama shivaya replied to nama shivaya's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
B12 injection a therapy for buuilding up the courage for a tatoo? LOL That's priceless! Yeah, the first B12 shot the doc asked me if I wanted to try it myself. NOT! I know it will be a hurdle to self-inject, but I suppose I can do it. I have to look away from getting blood drawn too, Rachel, but hopefully this won't involve blood (the hard part for... -
ARCHIVED Food For Thought
nama shivaya replied to nama shivaya's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Wow, this thread got into some pretty interesting tangents. lol Bottom line: As a collective race we are always learning and growing. The first time man ate a tomato, he was going out on a limb: was it going to kill him (as other plants killed members of his "tribe"), or was it going to nourish him? He was lucky. Sure, there are corporate cover... -

ARCHIVED Dh
nama shivaya replied to nama shivaya's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Oh, Ok -- Thanks!! -
Hi: I thought I posted this last night, but can't find it this morning! Anyway, one of my docs says that the small pimples I have on my legs could be DH. My dermatologist says it's folliculitis. They are pus-filled, like regular pimples, not clear-fluid filled like I thought DH was supposed to be. My question is: can DH look exactly like little...

ARCHIVED Red Eyes

How about allergies? I find that when I wear a particular type of sunscreen on my face, my eyes get red-rimmed and itch. -
ARCHIVED Food For Thought
nama shivaya replied to nama shivaya's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I garden, hike and ride my mtn. bike daily. I wear sunscreen on my face and other exposed parts since I'm a redhead. But I think vit. D can still be absorbed...? Yes, I've heard of the Swank diet. It's main focus is to eliminate foods that cause an inflammatory reaction in the system. It's very similar to other elimination diets. Anyway, the doctor... -
ARCHIVED B12 Shots
nama shivaya posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Guys: Well, I must say that I felt a profound difference in my mental constitution after receiving a B12 shot last week. My mind has been one big ball of worried thoughts for over a year now. After the B12, worried thoughts may come, but they go pretty dang quickly. My B12 level was in the 600's -- well w/i normal range, so I'm not... -
A dermatologist said that the pimples I've been getting scattered on my legs and breasts are folliculitis. He didn't ask what else has been going on in my life. A integrative health MD who I saw for my MS sx's said she thought it might be DH. My question to you fine board folks is this: Can DH look just like a little pimple? I thought anything "herp...

ARCHIVED Food For Thought
nama shivaya replied to nama shivaya's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Forgot to add, 3 more months and then decide if I want to begin a disease modifying drug -- probably Copaxone. This is injected sub-cutaneously daily. Sigh. I just HATE the thought of being on a harsh drug like this!!! But if it helps keep me walking and coordinated, I will. The other 3 drugs available right now to me are all interferons and offer nasty... -
ARCHIVED Food For Thought
nama shivaya replied to nama shivaya's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, MS is a clinical dx. I was dx'd based on symptoms (internal tremors, 1 year of anxiety, coordination problems with my hands, numb & tingly hands & feet, muscle twitches in my legs, weak legs, balance issues--have that "MS sway", and no feeling in my bladder/lower bowels), 1 c-spine lesion ("could be a spinal tumor, arthritis scar tissue, or...
