ARCHIVED Dx Celiac, Possible Autoimmune Reaction To Seafood, Nuts, Dairy, High Protein Foods.
Woolygimp replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think they are causing an autoimmune reaction. I feel extremely achey, fatigued, lethargic, brain fogged, even my teeth are aching. I haven't eaten fish in 6 months because of this and when I tried to reintroduce them last night, it definitely felt worse than ever. I slept for around 13 hours as well. I expected it really. -
I was diagnosed with Celiac disease and it seems to have had some ongoing immune reaction. The main complaints I've always had were dry eyes, mouth, and skin which are your typical Sjogren's syndrome symptoms and they seem to come and go. I've always noticed that they seem to flare up, especially when I get glutened, but also when I eat certain things like...

ARCHIVED Complication With Dehydration Or Sjogren's?
Woolygimp replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If I have adrenal problems, it's more likely due to a faulty pituitary (insufficient ACTH stimulating the adrenals) and that normally doesn't cause low aldosterone levels. -
ARCHIVED Complication With Dehydration Or Sjogren's?
Woolygimp replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow. From Wikipedia: Treatment consisting of fludrocortisone and IV with saline solutions, both of which have helped me. Symptoms include chronic and persistant dehydration. This definitely sounds like a match. I need to get this looked into ASAP. -
ARCHIVED Complication With Dehydration Or Sjogren's?
Woolygimp replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well when I made this thread I had taken a period of time and weaned off the fludrocortisone to see what difference it made. The dryness came back severely and it's what prompted the thread. After resuming the fludrocortisone the day before yesterday, and eating a healthy amount of salt (unhealthy, rather) I feel much, much better. Feel very hydrated... -
ARCHIVED Complication With Dehydration Or Sjogren's?
Woolygimp replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think a major clue is my positive reaction to the fludrocortisone/florinef. It's a mineralcorticoid that helps your body retain and regulate salt. When I first started taking the Florinef, I definitely felt the most hydrated and felt really good for the most part. I ran out of that, ordered some from an overseas pharmacy and since then I feel better... -
ARCHIVED Complication With Dehydration Or Sjogren's?
Woolygimp replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well indications are not pointing towards addison's, although it hasn't been ruled out, but more of a pituitary problem. I'm still waiting results from a ITT test testing my GH levels. but probably something more along the line of a pituitary problem. If that's the case, adrenal insufficiency caused by low ACTH doesn't normally cause low aldosterone levels... -
ARCHIVED Complication With Dehydration Or Sjogren's?
Woolygimp replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well the eyes and mouth really aren't that dry as long as I drink a lot, but by far the most bothersome is the dry skin on my face. My skin itself not only feels dry but it's lost a lot of it's elasticity, making it hard to make expressions, smile, or anything. Again, this improves if I drink a lot... and occasionally, if it's gone away entirely if I drink... -
ARCHIVED Complication With Dehydration Or Sjogren's?
Woolygimp posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've got Celiac disease and while my symptoms definitely improve gluten-free, they come back with a vengeance if I make a mistake. The three symptoms that plague me and will absolutely not go away are my dry mouth, dry eyes, and dry skin on my face. The dry skin on my face is the worst, it isn't just that my skin is dry... it's that the skin or muscle behind... -
ARCHIVED Help Me Understand These Blood Test Results!
Woolygimp replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'd just like to add that the fludrocortisone definitely, without a doubt, helps with my dehydration. If I take it and then eat salt and drink a good amount of liquids, my mouth/eyes/skin become moist and I feel much, much better. So if my aldosterone is low then how is that a possibility if I don't have Addison's? -
ARCHIVED Help Me Understand These Blood Test Results!
Woolygimp replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't see how you could say they are pretty normal when most of those labs are out of range. It was a morning test so isn't 5 extremely low? Look at my Aldosterone levels, it can't get any lower than that. Vitamin D was tested and was normal. Cholesterol has been elevated for the past two years over 4+ tests, so it's not a one time... -
ARCHIVED Help Me Understand These Blood Test Results!
Woolygimp posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Had some blood work done a couple weeks ago and was wondering if you guys can share your thoughts. I'm a 22 year old male, got "sick" when I was 17. I've been gluten free for a little over a year with some improvement, mainly involving the gastrointestinal symptoms. I no longer have any diarrhea, stomach pains, and so forth. I am still extremely fatigued... -
Well I just had the same reaction w/ both mushrooms and then again with goat's cheese. It's almost as if I can't touch any common allergen. I never had problems with any of these foods prior to going to gluten free... and I can't explain just how bad of a response it is. Feels like I am getting injected with a tranquilizer and getting knocked out for ...

When I ingest nuts (almonds/peanuts) it feels as if my body has a massive immune response. I immediately feel massive fatigue, almost the point of passing out, my mouth and eyes become dry, I lose balance and my spine at the base of my neck feels tingly/hollow. I also experience severe brain fog, dizziness, and memory loss. This is usually followed by...

ARCHIVED Don't Think That Candida Is An Issue?
Woolygimp replied to AliB's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Information, without reference, coming from a site that is also trying to sell products that have not had third-party testing or clinical studies. If I was trying to a bottle of random herbs for $30, I'd tell you how it even cures cancer... Just because something is posted on the internet does not mean it's true. Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth... -
ARCHIVED Adrenal Fatigue And Celiac Disease
Woolygimp replied to gointribal's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
lolololol..... Yeah, let's put our lives in the hand of some woman who's medical knowledge is limited to things she found on the internet. /sarcasm. No medical school, no license, and she can't even type straight. Go read her posts, they are complete gibberish as something she is taking/suffering from or whatever has brought her to the point that she... -
Someone bought me a couple bottles of Rex seasoning including creole seasoning and blackening seasoning. I checked the Creole seasoning first and the ingredients were clear, then I noticed on the side that they had a tag that said, "MSF-free, Gluten-free'". So I thought great and used it for a while. Then I decided to try the blackening seasoning. I...

ARCHIVED Elisa Gluten Test Kit For Food
Woolygimp replied to jmj0803's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
get rid of the lays and fritos, for sure. they have some serous issues with cross contamination at the factory, and many other posters on this forum report getting glutened consistently when they eat those chips. -
Well I haven't found anything as far as as allergies causing fatigue. Most cause hives/skin problems/ etc., but I don't suffer from any of that. Mine is a straight up "coma" feeling, like the poster above me described. I also want to know what exactly in these foods is causing the reaction so I know just what I have to avoid. And every once in a while...

By themselves usually. Yesterday I had the almond butter straight out of the jar, but often I've tried it with gluten free bread that I'm ok with. I eat the sardines with tabasco, which is usually ok. I know what you're getting at but it's definitely these foods, by themselves. Everything I've eaten them with, I've been ok with on prior occasions.
-
Well I'm having the same problem with almonds, only about 2-3x worse. I mean, I can go from having tons of energy to feeling like I just took 10 sleeping pills. It immediately knocks me out for hours... I'm not one to believe in undocumented medical issues, because I don't trust the alternative market at all...but something is definitely going on...

but I'm perfectly fine with avacados and eat quite a lot of them.

I've searched all over the internet looking for any medical literature which would explain the reaction I get when I consume almonds, and peanuts. Haven't been able to find any... Basically, when I eat almond butter or peanut butter I feel almost like I've been hit by a tranquilizer within 45 minutes of digestion. It hits me fast and it hits me hard...
-
I get the same reaction when eating canned sardines/tuna. Although I feel fine when I eat bananas, which is suppose to have a good amount, so I don't think this is it.

I'm not one to believe in all these intolerances but I definitely feel like there is something up when I eat processed meats. I'll get headaches, feel very fatigued, sleep for long periods of time and although I don't get the classical digestive symptoms, I do feel like something is wrong. I ate some lunchmeat/hotdogs yesterday, slept all night...woke...
