  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. When I go gluten free (third attempt now), I notice a change in my eyes right away. Usually everything gets clearer and sharper, but right now, it's like my vision is changing and it feels weird. Did anyone else notice anything with their eyes? How long before I adjust to my new, clearer eyesight?
  3. wwebby is a laura as well!
  4. Hi Carolyn, I'm moving to Baltimore in July, so any tips you have about the area would be great. Good luck with everything and keep us posted. Laura
  5. Check this out: Open Original Shared Link
  6. My doc wants it between 1 and 2. I also have bipolar disorder and hypothyroidism can complicate it. When I am above 2, I get terrible mood swings. I was in the psych hospital when my TSH reached 4. How do you feel?
  7. I have been playing with gluten free on and off over the past few years. I even have an Enterolab diagnosis. I don't know what it's going to take to get me to stick with it. I have had terrible psychiatric problems over the years; you'd think staying out of the psych ward would be reason enough to keep me gluten free (i always feel better sans gluten)...

    ARCHIVED Anger

Most of my gluten symptoms are in the brain, I think. I've never noticed any serious bowel issues, but holy cow, I sure have been crazy! My moods are terrible, also diagnosed bipolar, and sometimes, dare I admit, even a bit psychotic. There are many studies showing the efficacy of gluten free and gluten free/casein free on schizophrenia and some historians...
  9. Thanks. I must be a reactor too. I used to eat Lays stuff all the time, but I've only been gluten free for a month and this was my first attempt while gluten free. My tummy and intestines are still bothering me and I'm so sleepy!
  10. I'm still pretty new to eating gluten free and have been, I think, very good for the last month. Could today's incident be a gluten reaction? I woke up late and missed breakfast. At school (I'm a teacher) during my free period I bought an apple and two bags of Frito Lay Baked Lays to eat. The only questionable ingredient was "modified food starch" but...
  11. Hi everyone, I'm not officially diagnosed; my gastro doesn't think celiac disease as only the anti-gliadin was high, but my enterolab results were very very high so I went gluten free (and casein free) on Saturday. Already, I am feeling much much clearer in my head (the "fog" has lifted) and my ears have cleared up, but my stools are getting worse...
  12. I am new myself, so maybe someone else can be more helpful, but there's a great little database of gluten-free foods you can download from www.clanthompson.com. I haven't used it that much yet, and I just have the demo version, but you might want to check it out. You can search by category, name, etc. and it tells you the product's status and gives you...
  13. I had my appointment today where I met my new gastro and asked for a celiac panel and other blood tests. She complied, but admitted she knew nothing about stool tests for Celiac (I brought my Enterolab results). I can understand a primary care doctor not having enough time to keep up with Celiac, but I'm surprised that a gastro doc woudn't. Around her...

ARCHIVED A Good One In Anchorage

Hi Lisa, That's great! I also have lab results from Enterolab as well as an at-home blood test from York Labs. I have my appt with a new gastro on Thursday. I am a little nervous about it. You hear so many horror stories about doctors basically just laughing at us. But you know, that's why I went the Enterolab route in the first place; I was scared...
  15. I basically just went on a diet. I had my metabolism measured at the gym (Bally Fitness) and they told me my basal metabolic rate after measuring it with this device that you breathe into for 10 minutes. They then recommened how many calories I could eat a day based on my metabolism. I also got a heart rate monitor that measures how many calories I burn...
  16. You know Schnee, I just thought of another thing. Your local doctor should be able to help you out more. All your local doctor has to do is take some of your blood and then have it sent to a specialized celiac disease lab. I would think that just about any local doctor can draw your blood for testing??? Good labs for celiac disease testing are Prometheus...
  17. Hi Schnee, I haven't been to my gastro yet either, but I finally made an appointment...If you're having trouble getting a doctor, you can order some tests yourself, but it does cost money. Many people here have done that same. www.enterolab.com Dr. Fine is a board-certified, though somewhat controversial, gastroenterologist and researcher who can...
  18. Oh, yeah. I am definitely hypoglycemic. I'm not sure about my Celiac diagnosis yet (tests upcoming) and I've never had a glucose tolerance test, but I really don't need one. I absolutely cannot eat a carb loaded diet. I have to eat protein and some fat at every meal, I never eat sugary soda and I get really really cranky if I have simple sugars without...
  19. Good morning everyone! I woke up with a horrible stomachache this morning. I'm eating gluten and have been eating gluten for a couple of months, but I've been eating more because I finally scheduled tests for the 29th. Terrible stomachache this morning. It's still hurting. I wish the two weeks would go by! Ugh... There's a part of me that will be...
  20. Hi, I'd love some tips for how you shop. I'd love to order online through cheap sources, as my local health food stores can be kind of expensive. I'd love to hear people's shoppping routines. IE, how often do you mail order and from where? What online sources have the best prices? What do you still buy from the regular supermarket? How often do you...
  21. The world doesn't take celiac seriously enough, in other words, no products get labeled, restaurants don't care, and friends and family think we're hypochondriacs.. but when it comes to insurance, they take it too seriously! A gluten-free celiac is not a health risk! so frustrating...
  22. I am also casein sensitive, but I haven't been compliant. I am getting tested again on the 29th. You might want to search the internet for information on the gluten free casein free diet. There are actually alot of resources available because they've discovered that autistic kids do better on this diet. There is a huge network of parents who know all...
  23. I am not gluten-free right now because I am getting tested again on the 29th, but last year, when I went gluten-free for a few months, to sort of test myself, I noticed a weird weird improvement in my eyesight. It wasn't really that I could see better, as in "less blurry." it was more that everything seemed brighter, sharper, and more vivid. It was really...
  24. Hi everyone, I haven't visited this board in a year because I started to deny that I had a gluten problem last year and started eating gluten again. I even had Enterolab tests done last year and was positive for everything, so I don't know why I can't convince myself to stay gluten-free. I realized that I was doubting my own "self-diagnosis" and decided...
  25. Thanks everyone for your input. I did make an appointment with a gastroenterologist. I don't know what I'll get, but we'll see. I did find my actual numbers from Enterolab and to me, they seem quite high compared to what others have posted. Does that make a difference? Do higher numbers mean you have a worse case? Fecal Antigliadin IgA 269 units ...
