  1. My local Canadian Celiac Association Chapter had a gluten-free product list. Maybe try contacting your local chapter. I've found that a lot of things are similar to the US but there are exceptions like the Lea and Perrins Worchester Sauce, so you still have to read labels.
  2. Yes, 3 months would be enough time to reverse the damage and give a false negative result on the biopsy. I think that if enterolab said that you have problems with gluten and if you feel better on the gluten-free diet, then your body definatley has issues with gluten. It is probably worth staying on the diet. You can get a gene test to see if you have the...
  3. I agree, there are people that are very understanding. If a non-celiac guy isn't willing to deal with a celiac girlfriend's dietary needs then they probably won't make a good boyfriend.
  4. I babysat when I was 13 to make money. Some fast food joints will hire 13 year olds around here, but it is rare.
  5. Thai kitchen has instant rice noodles that are super easy to make, just place them and the seasoning in boiling water, let it sit for a while and voila! These ones should work well if you have pots: Open Original Shared Link I like Thai Ginger and Spring Onion These ones should work well if you don't have pots: Open Original Shared Link Open Original...
  6. Thanks so much for telling us about Bob and Ruth's. I am very interesed
  7. Welcome! Wow big family! How do you do it! I have a few ideas for lunches: EnviroKiz bars or dry cereal Open Original Shared Link Plain rice cakes or gluten-free bread with peanut butter Tuna or chicken salad with gluten-free bread (Just put a small ice pack in with the lunch to keep from spoiling). My Recipe: 1 can tuna or chicken equilvalent...
  8. How long have you been gluten free? Also are you dairy free? (sorry if you have already said) I've learned that a lot of gas in the large intestine comes from food that cannot be digested in the small intestine. That's probably why gas is a common symtom of celiac disease becasue the intestine cannot absorb certain foods due to damage in the small intestine...
  9. Yes, the diet is worth a try either way, you may have a gluten or wheat intolerance if the celiac results are negative. I hope you find an answer and feel better soon. Keep us posted
  10. I started the gluten-free diet the day of my endoscopy. I asked my doctor after the endoscopy if I could and he ok-ed it.
  11. I use Colgate toothpaste and just started using Garnier Fructis for shampoo and conditioner because I read on here that they are gluten-free. I am going to be switching my soap to dove because I am not sure if the one I use is gluten-free Yes... I know that is bad.
  12. I had my biopsy done on a Wednesday afternoon and I had the results by that Friday. So about 2 days for me. However, every lab is different, I called my doctors office and got my results. I probably would have had to wait longer to find out if I hadn't called.
  13. Yeah, I find I have to eat a lot in order to be full. Some days are worse than others. It's especially bad after I exercise.
  14. Use Kraft, if you can, for the dairy products (Heavy Whipping Cream, Parmesean Cheese, Unsalted butter) and Mc Cormick for the spices (Bit of black pepper). These companies will not hide gluten. *And make sure that the butter is a fresh package, since she could get contaminated if you use a used one. You are very nice to make dinner for your girlfriend...
  15. Some people have negative blood tests because they are IGA deficient, but they still have intestinal damage. If the person was not IGA deficient and had negative blood tests and if the doctor took at least 4-5 biopsies from the small intestine and got a negative biopsy, then it is very unlikely that the person would have celiac. The exceptions are: that person...
  16. I don't have an allergy to eggs but I react badly to the slightest amount of dairy, so I understand what it is like having more than one food intolerance. It's good though that you have figured out that you react to eggs. For some people this would be true... I know that some people can react worse to gluten after they start the diet. My reactions seem...
  17. That is always a bonus
  18. I agree. I am not a vegetarian but I eat WAY more veggies and fruits than meat. I think way to many people eat too much meat and grains and not enough veggies and fruits. Studies have shown that certain veggies and fruits can reduce the risk of certain diseases like cancer and heart disease, I don't recall ever hearing or reading a study where meat does...
  19. I'm sorry No matter how much they love you, some people just don't get it Some people in my family can be careless... well I shouldn't say careless, maybe forgetful. And it can happen so easily. When I cook I have to watch my stuff like a hawk Wow! I must look into this! Wouldn't that be wonderful. Carefree for a week
  20. Like celiac3270 said, we have seen tons of questions and none of them are silly if your health is at risk. I've asked tons of questions on here and there is almost always someone that can help. The people on this board are very helpful, I am sure you will recieve an anwser to your question.
  21. Thanks for the information
  22. Have you been checked for pancreatitis or gall bladder problems? These can both cause severe pain near the stomach area since these organs are right beside the stomach. That is a symptom of pancreatitis.
  23. Thanks so much Jen Now I can make hummus and eat it with flat bread YUM!
  24. Well... I tried the plain ruffles ones and I think I answered my own question Yep... they must be on the same lines as chips with dairy on them. I had a dairy reaction after eating them Ah Well... They weren't as good as I thought they would be, and I don't think I will be craving them again
  25. Thanks Lesliean for all of those links. I love getting new recipes
