  1. I chose the Hotel Cipriani because many people have recommended it to me. While there I found out that one of the employees has Celiac Disease which is why they are so aware of it and ensuring that there is no cross contamination. I also loved the hotel because it is on the Giudecca, which is an island away from the main part of Venice. It is pretty much...
  2. Yes, you should definitely be getting excited now. Italy is wonderful! I'm not a complete vegetarian (although I used to be) but I don't eat red meat still. However, while I was in Venice, most everything I had was vegetarian. And the hotel that I stayed at told me that I could order whatever I wanted and they would make it for me. They also said that...
  3. Ok, the above links should work now...
  4. I just returned from the Cipriani in Venice, Italy. The gluten free food at the hotel was absolutely delicious! I recommend it to anyone! 5. I'll have to check that out. Are most of their sauces gluten free?
  6. Practically every country I've been to is much more accommodating than the United States when it comes to needing a gluten free diet. However, my experience in Italy was amazing. I had tons of gluten free crackers, breads, rolls, and pasta! The gluten free food in Italy tastes so much better than anything I've tried anywhere else.
  7. I called Starbucks Customer Service line a few weeks ago and was told that the only beverages that contain gluten are those that include java chips. Everything else is gluten free.
  8. There are many restaurants in New York that accommodate a gluten free diet. Some of my favorites are: Asia De Cuba - They have an entire gluten free menu that includes a lot of different fish, meat, and duck entrees, as well as, several salads. They also have a very good chocolate cake for dessert that is gluten free. (There's one in London too) Nobu...

    ARCHIVED Italy

Hi Everyone, In August, I will be in Milan and Venice. I was wondering if anyone has any restaurant suggestions for either of these cities that accommodate a gluten free diet? I've already called the hotel that I'm staying at in Venice (Hotel Cipriani) and they said that it is not a problem and that they will alert both the concierge and the head...
  10. I use MAC cosmetics. The company has told me that almost all of their products are gluten free. However, they recommend that I contact them about each individual product that I plan to use so they can determine for sure. I've used several of their products now and have not had any problem with any of them. Bare Escentuals is all gluten free. However...
  11. I love Risotteria but have not been able to bring myself to go back there since they were temporarily shut down by the board of health. I've went to Mozzarelli's once and found the pizza to be very good. The crust is more like a "normal" pizza than Risotteria's thin-crust, but Risotteria offers much more variety as here they just have the traditional...
  12. I'll be traveling to Venice, Italy this summer and was wondering if anyone knows of any gluten free restaurants or places to buy gluten free items here? I've heard that Italy, in general, is very good in accommodating those on a gluten free diet. Has anyone had any experience in Venice?
  13. A few months ago, I flew from NYC to Los Angeles on Continental Airlines and checked the "gluten free" option when I purchased my ticket. The meal I was provided were scrambled eggs, a baked potato, and a macaroon. The macaroon (the only thing I actually ate) was from the brand Jennie's and was individually wrapped and labeled "gluten free." However...
  14. I have 2 disorders that are related to EDS; arnold chiari malformation type 1 and tethered cord syndrome. My doctors also suspect that I may have a slight case of EDS and I also have Celiac Disease. I believe that I've heard other members mention that that have both Celiac Disease and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
  15. Yes, so I've heard the brownies are only available right now in New York. I've already had 2 and I am also very sensitive to cross contamination, and have not had any reaction to them. In the two different locations I've visited, they had them on a seperate tray that was slightly raised above the surrounding trays. They are called, "Aztec Chile Brownies...
  16. Hi Everyone! After talking with a lot of people who have both Celiac Disease and a neurological disease and reading about how there can be neurological manifestations of Celiac Disease, I wanted to see how many of you with Celiac Disease also have a neurological disease, and if so, what? I'm trying to see if there are any connections between any neurological...
  17. After reading this post last night, I decided to look more closely at the bakery section at Starbucks. This morning I was at the Starbucks in New York's Penn Station and surely enough they had these gluten free brownies! The brownies look like the same ones that they have always had. My guess is they just discovered their recipe was gluten free. In...
