  1. New Av . . . If it wasn't for the freaking frigid temps, I think Susie would move to the Yukon for the dogs!!
  2. The latest on Michelle (and it has her picture): Open Original Shared Link Emily, you wouldn't believe how much time I've been spending on that website!!!!
  3. What's your recipe for? I would think you could just use two cups of your gluten-free flour blend. I'm assuming the 1 cup wheat flour was for whole wheat flour and that the original recipe was just trying to get a little fiber and not so much processed flour into the mix. Before baking gluten-free, I use to use half whole wheat and half all-purpose (which...
  4. And those dogs of his have POINTY EARS . . . you know how she loves dogs with pointy ears!!!
  5. Perhaps this is what has become of Mr. Bass. Good thinking . . . start with the musher in third. It would be a bit obvious if it was the lead musher.
  6. My daughter likes gluten free pizza - she NEVER liked the gluten pizza. In hindsight, I wonder if it bothered her stomach. Fruits and Vegetables . . . that's a universal problem, Celiac or not!! My kids do a decent job of eating fruits. To get a larger variety of fruits in them, I puree frozen fruit and overly ripe bananas with V8 Splash...
  7. Emily!!!! You have apparently NOT been spending enough time on the Yukon Quest site . . . The guy that is eight minutes behind her is the guy that's been behind her the whole time. They both overtook Brent Sass who has fallen to 5th and also apparently fallen off the face of the earth!!! Go Michelle Go!!!!
  8. From a friend: In one episode of "Cheers", Cliff is seated at the bar describing the Buffalo Theory to his buddy, Norm. I don't think I've ever heard the concept explained any better than this . .. "Well you see, Norm, it's like this . . . A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the heard...
  9. Nikki and Bev - Have you seen your pets lately? Have you misplaced them? Have you loaned them out to some harlot skank celeb as some sort of weird hair extension? No animals were harmed in the making of this av.
  10. If you google Clan Thompson, you will find their site. You can purchase food and/or drug lists from them or a subscription where you get updates every three months. I think it would have been most helpful in the first month or so. By the time I purchased it, I had already done a ton of my own research and gotten into my routine of what new brands/products...
  11. Susie's helping Stepford move out of the neighborhood? She's getting hardwood floors? She found caramels in the trash bargain bin?
  12. A lot of syrups aren't . . . Clan Thompson says Eggo syrup and Log Cabin Country Kitchen (MUST BE Country Kitchen) is OK. We've also been known to mix real maple syrup with corn syrup when we've been someplace and couldn't get one of those brands ('cause my daughter won't eat real maple syrup). Also, I love to take a small thin pancake and wrap it...
  13. My son is small for his age. His sister was diagnosed with Celiac. His results were somewhat inconclusive. He has no GI symptoms (or any other symptoms that we've noticed). During an appointment with the pedGI (who was reluctant to scope . . . and YES, we were too!!!) we decided to do a trial diet to see if we could pick up some growth. We decided on...
  14. ConfusedMommaof3, Welcome to the club!! You have found a great resource in this forum!! It seems daunting at first, but it won't be long and you'll be a pro. The exciting thing is that as I read your list of your son's symptoms, I saw the potential for great improvements for him on a gluten-free diet. I wish you and him all kinds of luck!! OK...
  15. WHAT A TEASE!!!!! You do know the boys don't like that, don't you Susie?
  16. Bev, So glad you're feeling better. Must be those boogers! I hear if you eat them, it helps your immune system . . . Accidently found this when looking at the College Isn't Necessary article ( BTW) Open Original Shared Link
  17. ...go back to a gluten-free diet? I'm assuming you were gluten free for a while and then on gluten for your blood test? How long were you back on gluten? If it wasn't long enough, your blood test might not be accurate. Stay on gluten until your endoscopy.
  18. Probably the only people I would trust are two extremely good friends. They have been the most interested in the details of Celiac and we have had thorough discussions on how little it takes to mess things up. Even with that said, I would probably still provide all the food that they would then just heat up (with detailed instructions on how to properly...
  19. Well, Emily, I hate to inform you of this, but you are NOT celebrating a "family day"!!! You are indeed celebrating the US Open Original Shared Link. They probably thought you Canucks might not be inclined to participate if they told you what it really was. Bravo Amanda!!! We'll be looking forward to you modelling debut. Well, I have to tell...
  20. Awwww Patti - sorry to hear about Allo - Hugs all around.
  21. Yes, that is what I thought, too. Be-yooo-tee-full Plumage!!
  22. Which one was Jack? I'm guessing this one --> It just has that Ohhhh Mom! look to it. Good Luck Amanda!!!
  23. We vacation with another family and we have also have had gluten-eating guests. I usually just lay out the rules up front, talk about how cross contamination works . . . if you're eating a (gluten) sandwich, you can't reach into the bag of chips . . . stuff like that. Then I tell them (and I think this is important) that I will be repeating myself frequently...
