  1. As I sat listening and participating in the discussion, I realized my fatal error. I couldn't remember the word. I should have written the sentence out and stuck it in my pocket . . . kind of like they do in "whose line is it anyway". I kept trying to think of it . . . saucesastic . . . soliclastic . . .sillyplastic . . . The dessert turned out just...
  2. AMATEURS!!!!! Now that's more like it!!! Apparently, Amanda and I are in a league of our own . . .
  3. That's too much information, Tom!!! I have a good friend who takes me to the bathroom with her sometimes when we've been talking on the phone a long time . . . GAHHH!!! I HATE when she does that!!!
  4. Admittedly, our school nurse was already a sweetheart!! We were on friendly terms before any issues started with my daughter because my son used to "visit" her often . . . just to break up his day, I think. When my daughter started having issues and had to see her daily for medictions, the school nurse was well-informed of all the results and conversations...
  5. <me too> If I keep them in the family room, don't let anyone use the restroom, install a large mirror to keep them from looking into the kitchen . . . well then, heeeey, I'm all set!!!
  6. I have decided that I'm just going to use Emily's quote and not even try to come up with my own sentence . . . I had to go to dictionary.com to check the pronunciation . . . I don't want to sound like I don't know what I'm talking about!!!
  7. I shall use it in book club tonight!!!! Then I will pass around the dictionary so they know WTH I said!!! Cake looks good . . . icing is fantastic (but that was gluten-free to begin with). I made two small cakes instead of one big one so that we can sample one and find out if I need to make an emergency run to Kroger for some sort of dessert...
  8. Did anybody else think . . . Of course Emily has someone's ashes in her closet . . . almost expected!!!!!
  9. I thought you were going to ask what kind of wine I'm serving . . . Tonight's book is Eat Pray Love . . . I did not care for it. Not my type of book and I'm not sure why we even picked it. I know it was an Oprah book and in general, we don't read the Oprah books. 'Course we've only been doing this for a year. In fact tonight's meeting is the one...
  10. Hooray!!!! In order to be successful with the gluten-free diet, I think it is all about not feeling deprived. As long as there is some gluten-free alternative out there that will scratch that "favorite gluten product" itch, then success is just around the corner!!!
  11. I say we send Emily after her!!! All roads lead back to Open Original Shared Link. Sillies!!!! What have I done??!!!?? Book club is at my house tonight. This requires some type of dessert on my part. Do I go with something that I've made before??? Noooooo. Do I go with something that is naturally gluten-free like choc fondue...
  12. I use it for gravy and stew. If you make your own gravy, it gives it the extra flavor and coloring that you would get from a jarred sauce or a restaurant gravy (if you could eat the gluten beef gravy). Otherwise, using just the beef broth will give you a very pale and somewhat bland gravy. You can get it at most grocery stores. And thanks Angie for...
  13. Ummmm, just wanted to mention that when Amanda said she was "with" me she didn't mean she was with me Not that there's anything wrong with that . . .
  14. Too Cool!! I can't believe you made that offer to Alex in public . . . now you must get us all one. Well, just take a look at her avs . . . most of the time, it's her dad . . . sometimes it's her dog (or her dad dressed up to look like her dog) Susie - love your Annie Av. I had some phunny stuff to write...
  15. Why that's RiceGuy!!!!! . . . so maybe we shouldn't listen to his advice . . . Just kidding . . . he was having problems with his baking powder. Just goes to show, it's all just one big experiment. You got to figure out what works and tastes best to you. And unfortunately, that mean's trial and error. I don't know of anybody who got it right the...
  16. Not sure of where you live but here in Indiana, we are getting our butts kicked by the flu . . . even those that have had flu shots (like my daughter) are coming down with it. One the nearby elementary schools had about a 100 kids out with the flu (out of about 650). Hope she's feeling better soon!!
  17. Susie - excellent funnies! I've already passed them on to me mum. Emily - I think Patti's water wings are an excellent idea. We've even still got some around here somewhere. Wish I could get them to you in time. 'Course they might not fit. They're made for a three year old. Do you have skinny little toothpick arms? I was never a three stooges...
  18. I've used two different brands of sweet rice flour and both made things more doughy or gummy. I wouldn't use them as a direct replacement for brown rice or white rice flour. I don't even like to have it in my bread recipe. I do use a little in my cookie recipes though. If you want a finer ground white rice flour, buy it at an Asian Market. Not only is...
  19. HUH???? Did anybody else wonder about this??
  20. My daughter is using Smart Balance with Flax Oil . . . per the recommendation of someone on this forum (sorry, can't remember who). I think that's the only one that's OK. Wow, those (gluten-free) EM really took the years off!!
  21. FABULOUS!!!!! Thanks Laura!!! You just made my day!!!
  22. Is something wrong with being Darned? The pic is from Christmas. The pugs are my BIL's. Pugs are big with my in-laws. My MIL is on her 3rd pug. First two she had at the same time (for a long time). One had an eye problem and ended up having to have one eye removed so we called her a pirate pug.
  23. . . . and YOUR way will lead to an arrest for solicitation!!
  24. Get in line, missy!!!! You will find, once you catch up with your reading, that you are not alone in your pukiness. . . seriously, though, hope you are feeling well soon. I stopped by the kids' school this afternoon (taking my recovering daughter with me - she's on her "must be 24 hours fever-free" day) and they said they were dropping like flies...
