  1. Hold off as long as you can....PLEASE. Use a religious exemption or a note from the Doctor, (If he is really willing to work well with you on the issue) for daycare. Never give an unhealthy child a vaccine, and never give a healthy child more than one at a time!

I have a 15 yr old son who has been gluten-free/casein free for 7 years. On 1-12-94 He was a normal healthy 18 month old. I took him to the clinic for his vaccinations like I thought all good parents do. They gave him his final Hib, first MMR, his final DTaP & final Polio vaccinations. Before the jabs, they first scolded me that I should have been in a few months earlier. I then held him down and allowed them to inject my baby with 8 diseases, Thimerosal, and a host of other preservatives.

Long story short...five days of explosive diarrhea. I seriously thought he was going to die. He went into a complete brain fog that he never came out of. He literately was poisoned before our eyes. Doctors blamed the reaction to a stomach flu that was going around. I know different. He was diagnosed autistic within the year. The best plan of treatment was healing his leaky gut. He is still autistic...but now high functioning instead of his previous low functioning.

Son #2 is NOT vaccinated. He 8 yrs old and his only illness has been the chicken Pox. (And an occasional cold). He got the Chicken Pox from a (pox)vaccinated child. Every vaccinated child in his class STILL got it. Son #2 is extremely bright, and extremely healthy. Of course he has also been brought up basically gluten-free/cf (until he started school) because I thought it better to start him out young in case I ever did need to change his diet.

Sorry to ramble. I'm very passionate about this subject. I saw it happen before my eyes. I had never heard of autism back then, I just knew that the vaccines changed my baby and no one (doctors) would listen. It wasn't until several years later did I start meeting others who had very similar stories.

  2. snip... the second one had a symptom box and that caught her eye. Well after reading the list she said this sounds like my mom. She called me and we went on the internet together and I have had 95% of the symptoms over the past 27 years. The kicker for me was the seizures that have never been explained...snip.

Can unexplained seizures be a symptom of celiac disease? I hadn't read that anywhere yet. I have a good friend who's daughter (32 yrs)just started having seizures. She has been tested for everything, (except celiac) and every thing comes out negative. Can you explain this more? Thanks for sharing your story. We pray every week for this young woman at Church...maybe this is the answer to our prayers for her.

  3. My son has been gluten-free/CF for 7 years. He always loved beer batter fish, so I experimented until I came up with a batter so good, that it is the only way I fry fish any more...for him and everyone. (Even company)

Please note that for some reason, if it is wet/raining this batter will not turn out properly... :o It sticks and is a mess. If it is a nice dry day, this is very close to resturant fish.

    1 egg

1 Cup of White rice flour

    1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar (important)

seasonings, (I use a good pinch of salt, pepper, cayenne, garlic powder, paprika)

1 to 1 1/2 cups of gluten-free beer, (until a thick pancake batter consistency)

    mix well.

heat oil to 375 before frying

This batter is also good on Onion rings, morel mushrooms, jalapeno poppers...etc.

  4. OH MY GOSH!!

You just basically told my life story...(except for the worm thing...LOL) I too have the post Gall Bladder surgery (3 years ago), explosive gotta go RIGHT NOWS. Also, brain Fog/ PMDD etc. etc. I assume you have weight issues if you purchased Alli. Out of curiosity, did your weight issues escalate after the surgery? I've always been pleasantly plump, (size 14 tall), but I have gained A LOT of weight over the last few years. I went from overweight to morbidly obese over a 3 year period.

I have yet to be diagnosed, but it is on my top priority list for this week. Maybe we can tackle this beast together.

  5. YUMMMM...I'm jealous. There is nothing like a fresh peach. Grandma used to can hers in Mason jars. She also made peach preserves, and pork roast with a peach glaze. Peach daiquiris are great with a little malibu rum. Oh the possibilities!

FYI...just incase you don't know, if you dip your peaches in boiling water for a few seconds, the skin slides right off!

  6. I think this is exactly what happened to me. I always had stomach problems; nothing major, though. Then, in one year, I had tonsillitis 4 times. I had my tonsils/adenoids removed. Right after my surgery, I started having major issues with my stomach/bm's/mouth/teeth. This was 3 years ago. A few months ago was the first time someone brought it to my attention; when I was at the Dentist. Anyone else with a similar story?

I have yet to be diagnosed, but I started showing major symptoms 3 years ago as well, directly following a gall bladder surgery. The Doc told me it was common to have diarrhea for a few months following the surgery....well, it's never stopped and a host of other symptoms started erupting quickly following. Out of curiosity...what did the dentist tell you? I've been having dental problems as well the last several months...My teeth where always my best attribute.

  7. My Aunt has MS. For years she has dealt with bowel issues, and was told it's just part of her disease. It started out as chronic constipation at first, and over the years turned to chronic diarrhea. As her disease progressed, she had a very hard time making it to the toilet in time and had many very embarrassing accidents. A few years ago I read an article about MS and the person writing it talked about how his bowel symptoms improved greatly when he avoided Gluten and casein. I told her about it, and she thought...What the heck, I'll try it for a month. To make a long story short, she is now regular, and if she does slip, her diarrhea comes back with a vengeance. Anywho...autoimmune dysfunctions do seem to run in packs...

I wish you all the best. Hang in there.

  8. Thank you all who responded. I will call tomorrow and "demand" the blood test. This has got to stop. I hate going anywhere for fear of the dreaded D. My girl friends stopped asking me to go shopping because they know I'll say no. Hubby & Kids would love to go on a vacation this summer, but I'm afraid to be stranded in the middle of the desert, (or interstate traffic) and have to GO. The stomach cramps can be worse than labor! My hair is fALLING OUT BY THE BUCKET LOADS!

I'll keep this sight bookmarked for sure. THank you.

  9. Hi there,

I tested positive for Celiac at the end of April. I had my children tested (IGA) and 2/3 of the triplets also tested positive. Their pediatrician suggested they go see a Gastro. doctor, and have an endoscopy. Is it really necessary to have the scope, if the blood test shows a + result? My concern is having an invasive procedure, and have the end result be the same (gluten-free diet). We got the + result on the kids this past Thursday, and they immediately went gluten-free, so they've been "clean" for about 5 days now.

What's the up side of getting the scope done? Is there one?

The problem with blood tests is the occasional false negative, not the false positive, if any of your children should have the scope, I would think it should be the one that tested negative on the blood test, (IMHO).

Wow, good job on going gluten-free so quickly. My 14 year old son has been gluten and casein free because of leaky gut for 7 years. Oh how I would love to strangle the school district for thinking every good deed has to be rewarded with pizza parties! Be prepared for a long road to tow!

  10. Hi all, Ive been reading here the last few days and have many questions, but I'll start out slow...LOL I have MANY symptoms of Celiac disease EXCEPT weight loss. Matter of fact I have gained about 100 pounds over the last 3 years. (after gall bladder surgery) Last time I visited the doctor, I discussed many of the symptoms. He said that I could not have celiac because I was now obese. He suggested a procedure that basically burns out the lining of my uterus for the excessive menstrual bleeding and clots, water pills for the swollen feet and ankles, Zoloft for depression, Nexium for the gerd symptoms, Requip for my restless and tingling legs and Phentermine for my obesity and more fiber for my chronic diarrhea. I left all the scripts on the examine table and left frustrated. I found 1 article on the web about a person being diagnosed with celiac disease and suffering from obesity...but only one. Does anyone out there have both? IS it more common than an occasional misfit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
