  1. Go to The Farm Artisan Restaurant in Redlands, Ca on State Street. The chef knows what is in everything. More on the menu I can eat than that which I can't. A real treat, and everything I've tried is delicious.
  2. In Redlands, Ca there is a restaurant called, The Farm Artisan Restaurant on State Street that I love. Everyone is "organic"--whatever that means. The best thing is there is more on the menu I can eat than selections I can't eat. The first time I ate there I felt like a kid in a candy store. The chef uses a lot of grains and cooks from scratch so the ingredients...
  3. Can I relate??? I've been away from this forum for a long time. I had the testing done and then the biopsy in 8/07. Been intentionally gluten free since. All the time. Never cheating although I know I've gotten gluten accidently. I've been ok with it, but I have to admit it has been HARD. I really thought I'd get used to no gluten and all that it means...
  4. I went to dinner tonight with a friend to Mimi's restaurant in San Bernardino, Ca I, of course began by telling our server about Celiac and apologizing ahead of time if I'm a pain. The next thing I knew the Manager came to my table with a note book in hand. He has just been moved to this location, and told me what at the former location he had several...
  5. I've been gluten free for a week now, and it just occured to me today that I feel GOOD. I can't even describe it. It's a miracle really! I have felt so crummy for so long it is like being given a new life. I, however, am REALLY tired. I cannot get enough sleep. Although I still have trouble getting to sleep. I slept right through on both Saturday, and...
  6. Sorry...The Zo and Anna's?? Please explain, as I said I am completely new to all of this. Like a whole other world Lisa
  7. Have you used Pamela's baking mix? I have read many places on the IN that it is a good one too. So, you don't make reg bread, like for sandwhiches, etc? That is something that is hard for me to give up. Non-tropical sprue?? Boy, this is all a whole new world. Thanks for your replies. Lisa
  8. Thanks for the info. Lisa
  9. Thanks for your input Sue. Where did you get your machine. What is Celiac sprue? I've seen this term a few times, but this is all still fairly new to me. Thanks, Lisa
  10. I'd be interested in your input about baking bread. What kind of flour, etc do you find works/tastes best? Thanks, Lisa
  11. Hi Everyone. I'm newly diagnosed and quickly realizing if I wasnt bread I'll have to make it myself. I've noticed that BreadMan has a machine with a gluten free cycle and the reviews on Amazon are very positive. Before I buy one I'd like opinions from those who have been at this a lot longer than me. Any input about baking bread (any kind as I LOVE...
  12. Yes, we are going to the Grand Canyon and that and any other travels I must take this summer for business are making me very anxious. What to eat when everyone else is being served one or two choices at a conference. It is encouraging to know that I can find gluten free in some places. How to tell what is gluten free and what isn't. We do have an...
  13. Grey, Well, I am glad to learn I am not the only one to get mixed messages even from my Dr. I appreciate the info. This is all new and difficult. Just the idea of never having another plate of pasta or good bread is enough to send me over the edge. Now, I'm learning that I have to watch everything, and it is all too much really. As you say, I...
  14. Thanks for the replies and the encouragement and advice. I haven't noticed an intolerance with dairy, so I guess that's good. I wil just continue to read and get info from this forum and other sources until my appt. The worst for me has been the mouth sores and that my RLS has increased because of iron deficiency. And, of course the intestinal stuff...
  15. This message board is quite confusing to me. Any way thanks for the reply. I have read Gluten Free for Dummies, and though intimidated at least now know what I am dealing with. I hope to get more input, but am glad to know there are others that are in this same place--not knowing what to do next. Gluten free? Not gluten free? Do I really have it...
  16. I, like many am stunned. I never heard of Celiac disease until I received a call re: what I thought was a routine blood test telling me I had it. And, that I should find out about and begin a gluten free diet. Not big deal I thought until I began to research. No wonder those with Celiac are depressed. There is very little positive news. So, the blood...
