  1. Awww, I'm so sorry you feel so icky. HUGS! Honestly, I felt the best right after I found out about my Celiac dx, when I was eating lots of whole foods (fruits, veggies, meats, etc.). Then I started getting more brave with condiments and adding other things back into my diet and now I feel bloated and gassy all the time...ick. Anyway, as far as your...
  2. Thanks everyone! I feel better knowing that wheat HAS to be disclosed on the labels...although that still doesn't really help us out with barley, oats, or rye. It's just frustrating to have to really look for things, ya know? The soy sauce, chicken broth, modified food starch, caramel color...it's all driving me mad Honestly, I think I might be...
  3. YAHOO! Thank you sooooooooo much!
  4. I used to be able to see them all, now I have to click on each one to see them? Did I do something to my set up or is this the way it is now? PS I don't like it!
  5. Thanks for all the responses...I just wanted to clarify that I'm talking about INGREDIENTS...not actual products. I use LaChoy soy sauce and am not asking about the actual product of soy sauce...I'm taking about when it's listed as an ingredient. I believe I saw it on a package of spanish rice my sister in law had (I didn't eat it b/c I wasn't sure...
  6. I am a SAHM of 3 kiddos and we do a lot of playdates at malls...so my lunch options are hugely limited (unless I bring something from home, which I may start doing). Burger King has a garden salad and their ranch dressing was okay (it was in a packet with the ingredients on it). I guess there's still a chance of cc with the salad though. Same with McDonald...
  7. Yeah! We've had Outback twice since I was dx'd, once was a pick up order and once in the restaurant. The waitress was great and I got the Alice Spring Chicken as well! LOVE IT! You know PF Changs does gluten-free menus too, right? Mmmmm!
  8. Like this one... Open Original Shared Link Just wondering...thanks!
  9. This list has tons of dairy stuff on it...is that only if you have dairy issues as well? Or do they really have gluten in them??
  10. I would TOTALLY do this study...but I don't see it in Missouri anywhere. Can you participate if it's not in your state?
  11. Awww, sweetie! God bless you for having all those food intolerances and doing this mostly on your own. Your bro needs to shape up! Anyway, I like the idea of a fridge in your room to keep the things that might get c-c'd (like hummus, butter, jelly, cream cheese, etc.). Also get a couple of your own pots/pans and keep them in your room as well....
  12. I'm still in a state of confusion about my celiac disease dx. My brief backstory... -I had chronic D for about 8 weeks in 2001, had a colonoscopy, doc found nothing and dx'd me with IBS -Immediately after the colonoscopy, I felt better. I took meds for IBS for awhile, but then just tried to regulate it by avoiding foods that I thought were triggers...
  13. I've been bloating up for the last week or so as well. To be honest, before all this celiac disease paranoia (I was just dx'd a month and a half ago), I would have blamed it on too much diet soda or PMS. I drank water water water all day today (NO SODA) and I feel a lot better. I lived with celiac disease for 6 years (I got mis-dx'd with IBS) and feel...
  14. I found out I had celiac disease b/c I had chronic D...but it never came back after the scopes (also when I went gluten-free). However, I am having the WORST BLOATING in the world right now. I think I'm getting kind of lax about some ingredients and maybe I shouldn't be?!? I know there is an ingredient list on this site but it's the ones that say "The...
  15. Eek! I've been happily enjoying lots of different liquors (we went on vacation 2 weeks after I was dx'd with celiac disease). Lots of martinis with flavored liqueurs. Whoops! None of the websites have ingredient information. Flavored vodkas? Anyone know? Thanks a bunch!
  16. Well fortunately I didn't have to give up beer, b/c I never drank it anyway. Had a bad reaction to it in college...lots of vomiting going on But my husband's family is Irish and there is liquor at EVERY family get together. They have devised a lovely drink called a ginny bucket with vodka, gin, lemonade, and Sprite that is quite tasty. Serve with...
  17. I kind of just want to know for my own benefit I guess. Also b/c we have kids. Could someone also explain the gene thing to me (the DQ stuff?). I googled DNA testing for celiac and a couple companies came up but am not sure if they are reputable. Thanks!
  18. Sweet! I have missed my Corn Chex for the last month! Woo hoo! I'm sure this will be a good substitute I guess their list wasn't up to date?
  19. if it's not affecting my skin, am I okay? I checked through my stuff today and didn't see anything that looked like gluten in the ingredients, but I find it hard to believe that I really don't own anything that has gluten in it. Maybe I'm not looking for the right things? Is it different from foods? I've been D-free for over a month now just by...
  20. I was at Whole Foods for the first time this week and saw these cereals. I didn't see anything in the ingredients that looked like gluten so I put some in my cart, but when I went to the customer service desk to get a list of the gluten-free foods they offer, these cereals were not on it. So do they have gluten in them? Ingredients: Milled yellow corn...
  21. I am sorry to hear this. We are planning to eat there tomorrow night. I hope I don't get glutened! Hope your son is feeling better soon!
  22. Hello! I'm pretty new at this too, but I agree with the others...ignore that book! You can still eat LOTS of things! The problem is with processed or packaged foods...you just need to read the labels carefully. Thankfully, most will outright say if they contain wheat...you'll just need to skim through for barley, oats, or rye. I'm pretty sure...
  23. Seems like it might be easier to just avoid the bad, instead of pouring through lists of what's okay. Anyone know?
  24. I was just dx'd a month ago and we have 3 kids...twin girls who are 21 months and a 3 month old son. I called our ped and he referred us to a ped GI. She tested the girls but said we would need to wait to test Luca (our 3 month old) until he's 1 year. So I would think you could get your daughter tested. But I would start with your ped. BTW, our girls...
  25. Yahoo! Thank you guys soooooo much! There is this local restaurant that makes AWESOME pasta salad and we have it at all our family functions (my son's baptism is this weekend) and I was wanting them to put some sauce to the side and I'd make my own gluten-free pasta noodles. They use HVR packets in the sauce though so I wasn't sure?? Thanks soooo much...
