  1. I ate at Carl's Jr. today and there was a breaded deep fried zucchini in the middle of the fries. Needless to say, I will no longer eat the fries there. I read on a different thread that Carl's Jr. told someone the fries and zucchini are cooked in different fryers. But if they are mixed up afterwards, that doesn't matter even if it is true!
  2. Hi Emily! I had the belly, I called it IBS belly since that was and is my diagnosis, for 3 1/2 years. To call it bloating wasn't doing it justice, it was Abdominal Distention! I would be normal when I woke up in the morn, and around lunch time my waist would grow 3-4 inches. It was stuck gas from the undigested wheat I was eating. Had to undo my pants...
  3. My understanding is that if a person has Celiac Disease and eats gluten, it does damage even if they don't have symptoms. So the person with Celiac, along with their loved ones, should in fact be concerned about gluten-containing crumbs falling on to a gluten free dish, or a utensil being used for both, even if there are no outward reactions. It is...
  4. Found one more, after seeing a coupon for a free appetizer for Carino's or On the Border in today's 3/2/08 local newspaper coupons. Figuring they are owned by the same owners, I checked on the Border for a gluten-free menu. They have suggested menu options for wheat/gluten "allergies". They suggest that persons with dietary allergies and intolerances avoid...
  5. Hi, Just an Update about Carino's Italian Grill in Mira Loma. Caution: print out the gluten free menu on the internet, and go by that, not the one in the restaurant! The same thing that happened to me years ago happened again. Their gluten-free menu is shortened, and does not specify that many entrees, including the Chicken Scaloppini which we ordered...
  6. It is probably Long Beach, California. I'll have to check it out!
  7. Hmmm, as far as I know the choices are steamed brown rice, and steamed white rice, so not sure if fried rice is on the menu. I don't think it is. Food is delicious though, and at least at our local one, the waiters are trained in Gluten Free dining. Request that they not bring out fortune cookies though. They always forget.
  8. I am so glad that you mentioned that Chili's has a gluten free menu! I checked it out and found that the menu is different at every location, so I didn't find the potato soup unfortunately but found lots of other good stuff! Thank you!
  9. I've had the Tortilla Chips with an Identity Crisis. Like them a lot! They seem to have a hint of sweetness for my taste, but my brother who can eat any thing said they "taste like normal chips".
  10. Hello! I haven't eaten at Carinos since going gluten free, thanks for the info! It is nice to know that I don't have to go and order a plain steak and potato. Also, I noice they let you substitute for what you leave off. Years ago, Carinos must not have had a gluten free menu and I was going there for a friend's retirement dinner, and I studied the menu...
  11. Hello, I live in Riverside, California also. Yes, the local Spaghetti Factory has gluten free pasta! I'm not sure about the sauces though, I usually get a combo of Marinara and a Meat Sauce. I always ask for a plain salad no croutons but it has arrived with croutons before. Use oil and vinegar, or I take my own salad dressing. Other places to eat in Riverside...
