ARCHIVED Opinions On A Good Multi Vit
hippiegirl2001 replied to glutenfreegirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I take Freeda Quintabs-M. I am looking for a different vitamin though, one that had the methylcobalamin form of B12. (this one has cyanocobalamin). I've tried some of the ones that others have suggested in the past which have sugar alcohols (xylitol, malitol, sorbitol, etc..) and they upset my digestive system. I checked on the one that the last person... -
ARCHIVED Resturants In Santa Barbarba, Ca

Follow-up. I did go to the New Frontiers cafe in Solvang a week ago. Mixed reviews. I asked what they had that was gluten free. The first person had to ask someone else because they didn't know what that meant. The person in charge just pointed to a few items in their case and said "those are your best bets". I asked what brand of ice tea they serve... -
ARCHIVED Shampoos Detergents And Soap
hippiegirl2001 replied to mona-norton's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
It is actually Dr. Bronners, (castille soap) and I bought a smaller one on sale at Henry's Farmer's Market to try. They had 4 or 5 scents there at Henry's, all with essential oils. I think that the Tea Tree oil one is supposed to help fight mold and mildew also. The castille soap is also cheaper at Trader Joes, although they only had Peppermint. -
Just want to mention that I believe that 3 different deficiencies can cause anemia: B12, Iron, or Folate. I think they should look at why there is a vitamin deficiency, is he not absorbing vitamins due to damaged villi? If it is a B12 deficiency they can give shots of course.

I don't know what the best one is but I can tell you what I take. I take Twinlabs D3 +K2 "Dots" which are small sublingual tabs. Sublingual are supposed to be absorbed easier. I wrote to the company to ask if it is Gluten Free, and they wrote back a very friendly email stating it is. It does have a bit of sugar alcohols which may bother me, but maybe...

ARCHIVED Any Gluten Free Restaruants In Las Vegas?
hippiegirl2001 replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I also recommend PF Changs, but I've read that nearby Ruth's Chris (a pricey steak place) has a gluten-free menu. -
I use Trader Joe's brand of sublingual B12. It is 1000 mcg, 100 tablets in the form of cyanocobalamin. They also have a B12/Folic Acid/B-6 sublingual blend tab. I tried Jarrow, as people say the other form of B12 is easier to digest and better overall, but I figured out the sugar alcohols were "plugging me up" for days. I also tried Freeda vitamins which...

ARCHIVED Shampoos Detergents And Soap
hippiegirl2001 replied to mona-norton's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
The suggestion on castile soap sounded good! It sounds as if you can use it for anything (laundry, bath, cleaning...) I saw 2 yesterday, one with Lavender, one with Peppermint. This was at Walgreens. I don't remember the ounces but it was large, for $14.99, and of course you dilute it so it probably last quite awhile. I think it was called Dr. Bonners... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free & Dairy Free
hippiegirl2001 replied to JustMe75's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Just wanted to update, as I had recommended El Torito. El Torito has multiple restaurants in California, maye 19 of them, so I'm sure gluten questions have come up before. When I emailed them a question about their chicken they did not get back to me. On a visit I asked the waiter to check regarding the chicken, exactly what is in the marinade, specifically... -

ARCHIVED Southern California?
hippiegirl2001 replied to msmini14's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Oops, sorry, I added a blank reply! I am in Riverside, pretty close to Chino Hills and Temecula, and was just wondering if you have any more info about the pizza restaurant which Temecula is getting which serves gluten free pizza??? About 6 weeks ago I planned a special trip to Picazzo's in Flagstaff, Arizona just to be able to order gluten-free pizza at... -

I'm in Riverside, and would also love to know the name of the pizza place with gluten free pizza allegedly in Temecula. So far the closest pizza place I know about is Picazzos in Arizona. Also, where do you buy your Amy's pizza? My local health food store doesn't carry it. -
ARCHIVED I Am Afraid To Eat Out
hippiegirl2001 replied to huevo-no-bueno's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Even frozen chicken which a restaurant purchases can have gluten already added, or else the restaurant may marinate it in something with gluten, such as soy sauce, or a marinade with flavoring from barley, etc... Even grilled chicken at many fast food places which have gluten free options is Not Gluten Free (examples, McDonalds, Carls Jr.)... If I don't... -

I went to the Chik-Fil-A website, and under Gluten Free, all it has listed is the chicken fillet sandwich, which of course you have to eat without the bun. Am I missing something? Thanks -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free & Dairy Free

Hello, I checked out the Cafe Gratitude, sounds great for the Northern California folks! Unfortunately in Riverside we are about a 6-7 hour drive from the closest one (the other one is in San Rafael). But maybe on vacation, thanks for the info! Just wanted to update on the Old Spaghetti Factory here in Riverside, Southern CA. They now have real, "permanent... -

Hello, I am going to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in 2 weeks, and would love to know if anyone has eaten at any of the eating places at the Xanterra (National Park Service) Lodge. I will take lots of snacks but it seems as if a few meals there are inevitable. Thanks for your input. -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Hawaii?
hippiegirl2001 replied to alamaz's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Would love to hear how the vacation went! I went to Kauai last year. Stayed in the Best Western Plantation Hale in Kapaa, and except for a room facing constant noisy traffic (which means you can't leave the doors and windows open to enjoy the weather) it was a great place to stay. Yes, it had a kitchenette. The local grocery stores had enough gluten free... -
ARCHIVED My Las Vegas Experience
hippiegirl2001 replied to colorado's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Last trip to Las Vegas we ate dinner at PF Changs nightly. Saw a Ruth's Chris down the street too, where I've read they will accomodate you. In hotels, I tend to bring my own gluten-free cereal for breakfast.
