  1. I have Hypothryroidism and refused to go on Synthroid or other perscription thyroid replacement med's. Instead I got tested for celiac disease because it runs in my family and can trigger hypothyroidism. So when my results (entrolabs) came back positive for Gluten Intolerance and Casien Intolerant I wend gluten-free and kinda CF. It made a big difference...
  2. My health food store got some Ian's gluten-free Fish Sticks in, but when the owner was stocking the freezer I man came and bought all of the boxes they had, before they were even stocked. I think he was afraid he wouldn't be able to find them agian...so I couldn't even by them.
  3. Happycat, You can freeze the speciman for awhile. I did the same test and froze my speciman from Thursday until Monday. No problems, they just want it frozen at least overnight so it gets to them still cool. So having it frozen longer shoudn't be any problem.
  4. I use Stevia all the time. There is a book out called "Cooking with Stevia" It talks about Stevia and proportions to use. It also has recipes. I use there recipes to know how to modify my recipes using Stevia. Here is a recipe for Poor Man's Cake I took our of Country Magazine and Modified it to be gluten-free and used Stevia instead of Sugar. Normally...

    ARCHIVED Dickey's Bbq

In anthoer post kathy4 said that Dickey's BBQ has a gluten free menu, but I called their corporate office today and they said they won't guarantee anything to be gluten-free. I have a Church Picnic on Sunday and Dickey's is suppling meat and BBQ sauce. Have any of you eaten there? Have you had any problems with the food?
  6. I just went on a trip and bought a package of Pamela's Chocolate Brownie Mix with Chocolate Chunks and they were the bast brownies I have ever had. (I don't know if they have dairy in them or not though.)
  7. I would not recommend Kroger brand or any other store brand pre-natals. A lot of them are just synthetic junk. (My opinion) I used Country Life Maxi Pre-natal Vitamin with both of my children. It is gluten free. You can buy it at health food stores for around $25 or at www.vitacost.com for $15.30. I don't know about meds during delivery, I had both of...
  8. Get on www.enterolab.com and e-mail Dr. Fine. He has Celiac Desease and may be able to help you out. When you e-mail, don't worry if you don't find his exact e-mail I am sure it will get to him. He replies usually within the day if he is in town. He is in Dallas. I don't know where you are.
  9. ADevoto, If your daughter has the DQ2 Gene don't stress out about it. However, if she is having symptoms there is a very good likelyhood that she has Gluten Intolerance/Celiac Desease. If she had the blood tests and they were negative, that is not unusual to have negative blood and yet still have Gluten Intolerance. If she had the biopsy and it was negative...
  10. I looked at some almond cheese hoping I could use it also, but the brand I looked at (can't remember what it was) contained casein.
  11. I am gluten intolerant and have Hashimoto's. I have not gone on any perscription meds for Hashimoto's. I do know that if they don't have the dose correct on her med's for Hashimoto's they can cause her thyroid to go in to Hyperthyroidism and speed up her metabolism, thus she would lose wait instead of maintain. I am taking a supplament called Thytrophin PMG...
  12. I received my free samples and they were really good. I am excited because my sister lives near Salt Lake City and she was just diagnosed as Gluten Intolerant also so now I can tell her where to get some good bread.
  13. The blood tests could be negative and you still have celiac disease and/or DH. Go with Entrolab, because there results are more sensative than blood tests.
  14. I have thyroid stuff and haven't had it checked since going gluten-free, but I am not taking medication for it yet. So I keep thinking my anger and short temper with my little girl is because of my thyroid issues, but it sounds like it could be just celiac disease stuff.
  15. Lynn, Enterolab website says that yes, you can be tested even after being gluten-free. This is because the test is really sensitive. In fact the instruction sheet tells you to stay on your current diet for the most accurate results. They also ask in a questionaire with the test if you have been gluten-free and for how long.
  16. When did you e-mail enterolab with your questions? They ususally reply within 24 hours unless Dr. Fine is on a trip then it may take longer, but if they received your e-mail he will respond. I don't know about your gene questions though.
  17. Here is an article that says asthma is related to Gluten Sensitivity This information comes from a book called "Dangerous Grains" Dangerous Grains If you suffer from a condition such as osteoporosis, Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis or depression, you're unlikely to blame your breakfast cereal. After all, intolerance of wheat, or celiac disease...
  18. If you have a compounding pharmacy near you, you can avoid the hastle of calling manufactures. They actually mix the ingredients there and know exactly what they put into the med's. The only thing is, that I believe you have to get your doctor to write it on the perscription so they can compound it. The compounding pharmacy where I live can made medicine...
  19. I am not sure, but I don't believe so. The gliadin antibody is specific to gluten I believe. May be someone can correct me if I am wrong.
  20. Monica, If you have tried the Low Carb/High Protein diets and have not lost weight then you are probably a carb type which means you do need grains and high carb and high starch vegetables. Which both of the books I recommend talk about. They basically say that we are all diferent and require specific nutrient ratios of Carb/Fat/Protein but that it is...
  21. It sounds right from the stand point of an uninformed doctor. You are correct that the main celiac disease blood test came back negative, but that is probably only because the antibodies haven't gotten into the blood stream yet. The positive IgG and IgA do mean that your son is atleast sensitive to Gluten. My blood tests came back postive only for IgG...
  22. monica, I just finished reading "The Metobolic Typing Diet" by William Wolcott. I had been overweight most of my life. Then in November of last year I went on "The No-Grain Diet" by Dr. Joseph Mercola. Both of these books say the same thing "eat right for your type". I have lost 30 pounds and am only 10 pounds over my ideal weight. These diets basically...
  23. Carol, Enterolab testing kit will probably get to you this week. However, you can only send the test back on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday to insure that it gets to the lab during the week. So you will have to wait until next week in order to send it back to them. Once I sent my test back to them, it took four weeks to get the results. How old is your...
  24. I would like to add more to this topic now that it is under it's own topic. First let me give a little family autoimmune history: Maternal Grandfather: Type 1 Diabetes, Celiac Disease that was never dx Maternal Aunt: celiac disease Cousin: celiac disease Cousins Children: celiac disease Old Sister: Hastimoto's Hypothyroidism Younger Sister: Asthma...
  25. Dana, I know this isn't the place for a vaccine discussion per se, but please know that people on both sides can make statistics say anything they want. Also, money talks, and with vaccines money is a major issue. It takes as much faith to vaccinate your child as it does to not vaccinate. That is a personal choice. And I believe that autoimmune reactions...
