  1. Congratulations!!! As far as a 'typical' celiac child, I'm not sure...but he definitely looks like our nephew did before his dx of celiac. The distended belly with ribs sticking out, skinny arms and legs...I really hope all goes well for you. Like I said in my last post, our nephew has done phenomenally on his diet, his belly has gone down and he...
  2. Interesting!!! Thanks for checking into that. He is taking the EPA fr the omega 3s. Maybe I can use your research into the lack of vitamin D as ammo to get him to try the cod liver oil.
  3. Has anyone checked into Honeycup mustard? The ingredients seem perfectly fine, except they say "spices" which makes me a little wary. thanks in advance.
  4. hmmm... yeah, holiday 16 that supplement does look good. in fact, a good friend of ours who has psoriasis had mentioned that his doctor had told him to use that same supplement because he was breaking out on his face. he said that it really worked for him. i checked it out online & it's def d3... currently my husband is taking EPA by Nordic Naturals...
  5. That article was interesting...I had already come across that information about D2 & D3 in my research for my husband He has psoriatic arthritis & I made his doctor give him a vitamin D level test & it came back as almost (1 point) deficient. The dr. prescribed a really high vitamin D supplement. When we went to go fill it, it just said vitamin...
  6. I'm sorry that you're going through such a rough time with your baby. I don't have any recommendations for you as I myself don't have any children, but we have a nephew who just went through something very similar as your boy. I think hearing that someone has gone through what you're going through could help. ... He was really sickly and nobody knew why...
  7. Thanks guys! I did a lil online investigation & found on advil's website their top FAQ's....#1 was are adult advil tablets gluten free & safe for those with celiac? #1 question! The answer was yes, they're gluten free & safe.
  8. Hi Jenn, I'm pretty sure that he only had 2 tests run...i know one of them was the TTG AB IgA and that was 1AU (a positive dx would need to be >7AU). We just went for the diet bcz he's been suffering for too long & we can't afford the additional testing. Do you have arthritis as well? Are you going to get the biopsy? or are you already on...
  9. Natalie, Thanks for listing your experience. We are now 2 weeks into the diet w/o a biopsy. Hoping that it will help. It's so strange that you can have such damage to your gut & still test negatively in your blood. Best- Joni
  10. hi everyone... Just wondering if anyone knows a brand of ibuprofen that is gluten free. We have a bottle from Jewel/Osco that is their store brand. I called to see if it was gluten free & they couldn't tell me because I didn't still have the box with the UPC...they said that some lots are made with gluten & some aren't & that they can't tell...
  11. i am relatively new to the "born again" gluten group , and my mom laughs at me everytime i mention it...when we get off the phone, she'll use "gluten" as a goodbye. but, she takes it seriously & i'm hoping that some family friends who have a son with autism will heed the info that i sent to them about how the gluten-free can help with some issues....
  12. I was thrilled to see that episode! I had just emailed a friend of mine who's son has Asperger's & told him about my research on celiac as it relates to autism. He said he'd check into it, but I heard through my mom that he hadn't followed through...then came yesterday's Oprah episode. Now, my friend & his wife are out buying gluten free things...
  13. Thanks...I am really interested in the Enterolab gene testing...for myself too as I've had tummy problems my whole life. I was dx as having IBS & lactose intolerance so I started the gluten-free diet with my guy. I probably won't get the blood test for celiac now because we've created a gluten free house, I don't want to start eating gluten again &...
  14. Hi all! My husband just received his blood test for celiac & everything points to a negative result. We just aren't sure if that's right. He has psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, b12 deficiency, dental problems, not really any gastro problems, and was low in vitamin D until taking large dose supplements. We know there's something going on here!...
  15. Thanks for the feedback/support! We just got his tests back & everything indicates that he does not have celiac.... I'm not sure I can believe this result! First, the test was done at ARUP labs...not sure how reliable they are. Second, my guy is on methotrexate & that lowers your IgA levels since it's an immunosupressant, so couldn...
  16. hi, i am new to this forum. i am here because of my husband. i believe he has celiac...we are waiting for his blood test results. i just wanted to ask if any of you (or anyone close to you) have psoriatic arthritis & have had good results from going gluten-free. we just started the diet (not even 1 week yet) and i am anxious for him to start feeling...
