ARCHIVED Wheat Grass Juice...
rock on posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, I've been on the gluten free diet for about 2 1/2 months now. I don't have a diagnosis...I've never been tested. I'm mainly doing it for 2 reasons...1. to support my husband while he tries to figure out how to relieve his ongoing health problems and 2. because I've suffered from IBS for years. I'm feeling a little better as far as my gastric problems... -
I do think that having celiac or gluten sensitivities or even only leaky gut syndrome could potentially be a root cause of depression or low serotonin levels. I was actually just looking into how amino acids can help our bodies (because of someone here who mentioned taking l-glutamine to help heal a leaky gut) and came across this article. I thought it...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Dressing Made Me Sick?
rock on replied to kimw/4's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah, my thoughts turned to the broth too. If it's gluten free, perhaps there was MSG. I know Swanson chicken broth has MSG in it & we had to stop using it for that reason...my husband gets headaches & feels bad when he eats MSG. -
ARCHIVED Baby And Husband With Symptoms
rock on replied to greatfulfor4's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you for that info. My husband has psoriasis also & nobody has ever pointed out a connection to spondyloarthropathy. I too will be investigating. I tried to go to the website, but it was some kind of technical site. I think the website you meant was: www.kickas.org -
Hey Joni, I don't know about tortilla flakes, but I have used tortilla crumbs. I'm not sure what the brand is, but they say "southern homestyle" at the top of the canister. We like them...we use them to coat chicken & then fry them up in canola oil. Makes pretty good chicken fingers! I've never made a casserole with them. -ro aka ...

ARCHIVED Need Help Healing My Intestines!
rock on replied to Diana Mary's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
aaahhh, yes....I think you're right Diana...I forgot that malted stuff can be made from other sources like corn. If you react severely to gluten, then it seems reasonable that the malt is made from something other than wheat. thank you for the list of what you're eating on the diet. It seems like a pretty restrictive diet. I bet if you do this diet... -

ARCHIVED Need Help Healing My Intestines!
rock on replied to Diana Mary's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Diana, Welcome to the board! I don't have an answer for you about how long to continue this anti-candida battle. (sorry!) I am interested in it though because I think that my husband might need to start the battle too, so I am going to track this thread to see what others here have to say. But, I was curious what this Candex was that you're taking... -
ARCHIVED Dairy

Yo Joni! I haven't given up on soy completely. I'm pretty much just not able to drink/use soy milk. My husband has found that tofu makes his psoriasis flare up. But, we've eaten gluten free things that have some soy flour in them & haven't had the problems that we have with the soy milk & tofu. Maybe it's because they are so heavily processed... -
ARCHIVED Dairy
rock on replied to Joni63's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Joni (that's my name too!) Maybe you are having a reaction to the soy milk. A few years back, I decided to stop using milk because I've always been lactose intolerant. I had been using lactose free milk with no problems, but thought, "I'm going to get extra healthy" & use soy milk because I'd heard all these great things about soy. Well, it... -
Thanks for listening Scott! This green is perfect!! Pretty & muted & fresh. As far as what I said about the ads before...I understand that they are what keeps this site free for us to use. I couldn't afford to pay to play here...so, ads it is! Thanks for having such a great place to learn, vent, inquire, teach & support.

I know that change & progress are necessary....but, I agree with a lot of what people are saying about the forum changes. The green is a good idea, but VERY distracting. The contrast of the overwhelmingly bright green with the light areas is hard on my eyes & I'm finding that I have to squint to focus on the writing. I'm sure a while on here doing...

ARCHIVED Acne And Gluten...
rock on replied to blondebombshell's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I think there's a connection. Ladybugs, I too broke out really bad a few weeks into the diet. Then things started clearing up. I've been on the diet for 2 months now & my skin is doing much better. I think I had some sort of toxic cleansing through my skin (specifically my chin!) Now my skin is pushing out stuff rather than getting all red &... -
ARCHIVED Burning Pains In Elbows
rock on replied to lorna's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Lorna, One thought I had....maybe it's nightshade vegetables. My husband has psoriatic arthritis & began to complain about a 'burning pain' in his joints, specifically his hands right before he went on the gluten free diet. A few weeks into the diet & he said that the burning was getting worse. We looked at his diet and realized that... -
Hi Janet, I was just wondering how long you were on the diet before you realized that the diet was working for you. Were you officially dx with Celiac? My husband was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. He, like you, has no RA factor...but because he has minor psoriasis, it's been diagnosed as psoriatic arthritis. We've been wondering if perhaps...

ARCHIVED Psoriatic Arthritis Anyone?
rock on replied to rock on's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi Ellie... I am actually a little confused about the test that he had done. His doctor ordered a 'Celiac Panel' (that's all that was written on the script) which I only now know consists of several tests...but these are the results that we received: Immunoglobulin A 152mg/dL (with a reference range of 68-378) TTG AB IgA w/o Titer 1.0AU (with... -
ARCHIVED Question About Potatoes & Joint Pain
rock on replied to rock on's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I posted this a few days ago, but I think I did it in the wrong section & it got moved...now I can't find it on the board....so, I'm reposting to see if anyone has some input for me. I was wondering if anyone could clear up some confusion I've had over potatoes. I keep hearing a lot of people talking about nightshades affecting joints and how 'white... -
hi. I just wanted to chime in that my husband has had migraines since he was a young child. About 10 years ago he started getting them much more frequently and for longer durations (ie, days in bed in the dark) and he began feeling really ill all the time. They ran scans & tests didn't find anything. One doctor fortunately tested him for vitamin...

It really is unfortunate that they are now allowed to use the Gluten Free labeling if they haven't gotten rid of the .002% barley. It makes me wary of a lot of foods now. Does 'certified gluten-free' mean anything? I guess I'll just have to follow my gut.... I had been using the Rice Milk I'd bought & had been having mild D for days. I've now switched...

I am resurrecting this old post because I just bought a box of Rice Dreams and it does not say anything about barley on it. In fact, it says that it is Gluten Free. When I checked their website, it was listed as Gluten Free. Open Original Shared Link I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about this change of labeling. Is it true, are they lying, is...

I was wondering if anyone could clear up some confusion I've had over potatoes. I keep hearing a lot of people talking about nightshades affecting joints and how 'white potatoes' are not good for some people...now what kind of potatoes are we talking about here? Russet baking potatoes? Are 'red potatoes' ok, or are they not because they are white inside...
