Hi Nita. SCD is the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. It was originated by Dr. Haas who is no longer alive. This is what he used to treat celiacs and any with digestive problems. My doctor had a woman in her 50's who took 5-6 months on a gluten-free diet to get well. So I'm debating whether I should just stick with this or try the SCD. I joined a support group...

ARCHIVED Enterolab

Hi Burdee. Glad you got your results. Faster than mine. Funny, I posted my results and the post disappeared. You post yours under mine and there it is. Maybe I'm loosing it. LOL Best of luck on getting well. I'm still working at it. -
Hi Nita. I posted my results but then I couldn't find them. Yes, I got my results on the 28th of June. They actually came back on the 25th but Yahoo screwed up and I didn't get them. Basically I was positive for gluten sensitivity but my fecal fat test for malabsorption was negative meaning my intestines haven't been damaged yet. I also have the gene which...

Thanks much. We will be in several different places so I think I'll skip. Won't have much money till payday anyways which is the Friday comming before we leave. Just for information, I have been really researching this SCD diet the last couple of days. I'm really seriously considering trying it after the book gets here and I read on it. Now that I know for... -
Enterolabls diagnosis gluten intolerance but they also have a test for fecal fat/malabosrption which shows if the intestines have been damaged. To me, if you test positive for this it would be full blown ceiac. I didn't which is good but I was suprised considering how many years I've been sick. I understand you need to do the right thing. Best wishes.

Wonderful to know. Except the mint that is (hate mintlOL). After I get over being sick (what a morning I won't bore anyone) I will think about placing an order. I need to figure out what other foods I'm having problems with. How long does it take for an order to get to you? I did order a paper catalog. We are going to Oregon in a week to visit relatives... -
Hi Deanna. I don't think you're pysosematic (spell??). I used to get the paralyses without the nightmares. I had them for years and then they just went away. I never thought about why they happened. Well, I guess I did but I couldn't do anything about it. I will encourage you though that I too am a Christian and "Greater is He that is within you than he that...

I have a bad habit where I go through periods of getting up at night and raiding the kitchen. Especially when my upper neck (atlas) is out and puts pressure on the brain. Fortunately I started doing this again this week but haven't touched the chese (casein allergic). Instead I go for the corn chips and salsa. Wish I could stop it as I know it's not good...

Will following the SCD eliminate the need for the Elisa food test from yorkallergies? I'm thinking of doing that when I get some money set aside. -
I agree with all of you. 20 years ago I gave up on doctors and took things into my own hands. I've learned alot over those years that I wouldn't have learned otherwise. I do have to give my current doctor a gold medal though for suggesting celiac to me. I never would have thought of it on my own.

Hi Will. I don't have an answer for you. Just wanted to congratulate you on getting your energy back. I'm hoping to gain a normal persons energy level through this diet and then get into some healthy walking and maybe some hiking as well. Let us know how it goes.

I've used Lundberg brown rice spaghetti and it was great. My husband didn't even know I had used anything different.

I also wanted to mention that aloe vera juice is good for constipation as well as coconut. Both of those are great in smoothies. Hugs, Carol B (thanks for the reminder of massage direction)

I've been waiting for 4 weeks romorrow for my results from enterolabs. They actually came last Friday but due to yahoo screwing up again they didn't show up in my mail box till today. I am positive for gluten intolerance as well as casein allergy which is a BUMMER. I also carry the gene so I have notified my family. What they do is up to them. The good news... -
I've had my problems too and forgot about masaging the stomache. My massage therapist showed me that. Is there something else like eggs maybe that's causing it? Hugs, Carol B (who just got her test results from enterolabs. Positive for gluten sensitivity, milk casein allergy and I have the gene)

That's quite a story celiac3270. Has your family thought of doing the enterolabs test. Sure would make sence that if you have this they could too. Hugs, Carol B

ARCHIVED What To Do?
kalo replied to lyndszai's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I wouldn't do that if I knew for sure I had celiac disease. What about enterolabs.com. A simple stool test that's MORE reliable than anyother testing. Doesn't matter that you've been gluten-free. Hugs, Carol B (still waiting for her test results from them) -
Thanks celiac3270. My husband told me click and drag. I tried that but it didn't come out as a smiley like you said. I didn't know it did that. Thanks, Carol B

I should warn you that just because your doctor says your thyroid is normal doesn't mean it is. I have learned so much this past year that I never knew. You might go to about.com and type in thryoid and read and see what you think. Just a wild suggestion. LOL Hugs, Carol B

Firs of all LEAVE the mint out. I can't stand anything with mint in it. You are probably right about the craving. but I've loved chocolate chip ice cream since the day I was born. Sterling (DH) thinks that when I was born and the doctor slapped me on the bottom instead of crying I hollored "Hey Doc! Where's the chocolate chip?". LOl I really don't eat much...

Hi Nita. I WOULD NEVER take meds for osteopenia/osteoporosis. They havent been proven yet and what about side affects. If it's from celiac disease it should reverse if your intestines aren't to far gone once you start absorbing calcium. I would think so anyways. Could also be from low thyroid. Have you had your thyroid tested by a reputable doc? i.e. TSH...
-
I wish that were true. I'd eat ALL the chocolate chip ice cream I could find. LOL That is interesting though. Sounds like your body knows what it needs. I keep noticing your signature. BOY have you traveled the world. Is this because of your job? Hugs, Carol B (still waiting on test results from enterolab)

Hi Nita. I'm only 55 and have osteopenia (diagnosed several years ago). My grandmother had SEVERE osteoporosis and I wonder now if she had celiac. I've read that untreated celiac can lead to it. Maybe once your intestines heal you will improve. I've also taken Armour thyroid since last August. Armour has calcitonin in it which helps the bones. I had another...
