  1. We finally found a chicken finger my DD likes yeah !! we tried the Ians and they are not very good. The tiny Dinos she claims are "Spicy".

My husband made Chicken fingers by cutting strips os chicken, dipping them in a milk/egg mixture and rolling them in Crushed Veggie Chips they were wonderful.

Just thought I would share it if any other kids are missing "chicken nuggets"

  2. our school does the same we take turns bringing in snacks, but to make it easy and so that i am sure shes safe i just pack a seperate snack for my DD untill its our turn and then iprovide the class with a gluten-free snack. i also leave a box of her fav cookies with the teacher for those special occasions like when cupcakes come in for birthdays. i just find it unrealistic that other parents will conform to a complete gluten-free class so i also just take that off theier hands.

  3. Thank you, thank you for your ideas!  I'll head to the grocery this evening and stock up!

Sorry about that last post just got onto DSL and it went to fast

My 6 month old is breastfeed and i had been wondering if he could be having some reactions we tried rice ceral and he cried after and seemed to have a stomach ache ( my Pedi suggested beech nut because it comes from a country that does not rotate crops it still seemed to upset his tummy so we went right to veggies hes doing fine but now i noticed with those zibeck (sp) cookies he seems to get a tummy ache again coienidence? (my sp is awful tonight) or could there be something there?

  6. Well switching Sarah to nutramagin has made a world of difference.  She really is a totally different baby now.  So we at least know the Dairy is an issue for sure.  She seemed to be reacting to wheat when I ate it but I won't be able to test that till she is a few months older and we start solids.  I guess at that point we will see a reaction for sure if she has an allergy to gluten also and until then I shouldn't let it stress me out.  I figure at this point I probably will not continue to breast feed.  Don't get me wrong...  I do firmly believe that breastmilk is best for a child...  But I know I can't go 100% dairy free again because of how sick I was before, so it is safer for her to be on formula at this point...

  7. before we left i asked to speak to the store manager and told them about my experience. I also e-mailed the corporate office and told them. I always try to send a compliment when its needed I agree people complain to much so when there is a chance to send a compliment i always do

  8. I took my daughter out to eat as a special treat and we tried the Longhorn in Marlboro Ma. I asked the waitress all the usual ? ask for a boiled hotdog with no bread on her plate plus mashed potatoes which they told me was real potaotes not instant. a few minutes after ordering the Kitchen manager came out and asked if someone had celiac disease i told him about my DD and he said he would make sure personally that all items touching her food would be cleaned before cooking and that he would make sure nothing else came in contact with it. my DD got her lunch and she didn' tlike the potatoes so the kitchen manager asked how he could make her happy and would she like ice cream i said she can only have sherbert after telling her they do not carry sherbert he said ill be right back well he came back with a big bowl of sherbert ice cream !!! he had run next door to the supermarket and bought my DD sherbert. They did a beyond wonderful job that day and i hope if any of you are in this area you could feel comfortable eating there. it was so nice for my DD to feel important instead of me always saying no you can't have that THANK YOU LONGHORN!!!!!

  9. Hi ,

I am also looking for one in the worcester area i would prefer a pediatric dr

i tried childerns but find that they are not to aware of celiac disease. My DD has been gluten-free since december and I have a few questions for a gi let me know if you find a good one.

  10. After 2 1/2 weeks being gluten-free my daughter turned to me and said hey Mom my belly does not hurt at all not even a little bit !!! of course her next words were can I eat some of my old foods now? She has always had belly pain since birth and she thought it was great when it only hurt a little so i was so excited after all this time to hear those words !!! We have been doing a gluten tolerence test after a pos blood/neg biopsy. we fed her some noodles one night and she was up all night sick as can be crying and her belly all swollen and in a lot of pain. So that did it for us if shes been doing well and then a 1/2 cup og noodles could cause that much pain She has her answer. just thought i would share happy news.

  11. My Daughter is 6 and has had chronic stomach pain and sugar trouble since birth so after all the medical intervations she has had by specialists my reg Pedi just wants me to try the diet. Yes luckily she is a big big fruit and veggie eater. She also eats alot of peanut butter (due to hypoglycemia (sp)) any suggestions on good crackers that she can make herself peanut butter and crackers rather then the store bought kind these are a staple in her diet.

  12. Hi

About 6 months ago My daughter was going through testing for celiac disease Her Pedi ran a blood test which came back positive but the Gi Doc did bioposy which was negetive so GI dr told me its not celiac disease (bet some of you have heard this b4) So anyways I modified Her diet a little anyways against GI docs suggestion and there was a little improvment well, this week shes sick again bad tummy pain, Weak very foggy headed so off to the Pedi who strongly suggested we try the diet for a period of time to see if it helps so this is the question what foods are good for kids wehere do i begin any help would be great !!!!

  13. Hi !!

My 5 yr old had a biopsy a month or so ago and that came back neg. Her initial blood test came back post. So here we are GI dr says its not celiac. and wants me to try bio medical feedback for pain wothout even telling us why she is sick all the time they have no answers. She is constanly comp[laining about stomach pain and headaches her belly is almost always swollen, She asks me to make it stop, I don't even no what to do to help her. So dad and I deceided as well as her reg. Pedi to try going gluten-free and see if there is improvment. So here is my question Were do I begin????? She is a fussy eater already but she will eat fruits veggies and some meat are these all ok? do you find any brands are best tasting for kids? please help

I walked around trader joes dumbfounded. any recipes or premade suggestions would be great !! thanks

Also I got the name of a GI dr in Boston do you think I should get A second opinon does anyone know of a good pedi gi in boston-metrowest area?

  14. Thank You hearing that some of you also had a neg result makes me feel a little better. My GI wants me to feed her a regular diet for the next couple of weeks and keep a diary of food eaten and when and how bad the pain is. I spoke to my Pedi and she suggested i try the gluten free diet for a month or so and see if she gets better. I told my gi i would feed her a regular diet this week being school vacation then I am going to start her gluten-free and see if there is a difference. I am convinced of celiac , it explains all her issues. the Gi has no explaination he talk about pain managment, can you imagine no diagnoses but just putting her through pain management? give me a break. He does not even suggest trying gluten-free. I may try that lab everyone keeps talking about next.

  15. well we finally heard from our GI about my DD biopsy it was negative. I have to say i am happy but very surprised so is her pedi. celiac disease seemed to be the answer for all her issues she has had since birth. she had 2 blood test the first was very high positive, the second was neg according to the Gi doc the second was more accurate. The GI Doc has no answer to why her tummy hurts so bad all the time. We had to put her on a liquid diet for 2 days before the biopsy and she was fantastic, never complained of tummy pain. the night of the biopsy she ate dinner and her tummy hurt so bed she went to bed and its been hurting ever since. has anyone ever had a biopsy come back neg only to find later they had celiac disease

  16. Hi I just needed to vent somwhere! and I find you very helpful. I just don't know how I am going to get my DD through these next few days. The dr's have her on a liquid only diet for 2 days before the test which is wednesday. ONly drinks and jello she is hyperglycemic so i am waiting for her to crash any second. I let her go to school this morning but picked her up for lunch I did not think it was fair to have her sit there while everyone ate. I am so nervous about the testing they are doing the endoscope and a coloscopy (there was blood in her stool). Her 1st blood tests came back positive but the GI dr did a different blood test that came back negative. they have done upper gi's, allergy testing, ulrasounds and numourous other testing I just can not wait for them to figure out what is wrong. Shes foggy headed alot, her belly swells pretty big after she eats. shes always tired, gets confused easily, has constant stomach pain sometimes severe I will find her laying on the bathroom floor some nights crying it hurts so bad She has also now had 2 episopes where she has been bede ridden for a day with severe belly pain and headaches her list of symptoms go on. celiac disease seems to be the answer I just hope they figure it out soon. HOw did you other parents get through these test I am a nervous wreck THey will be putting her to sleep I think thats making me very nervous. Sorry for ranting I am just on edge THanks for listening.

  17. My 5 yr old DD has always had green stool I have mentioned this to dr's and they say it does not matter what color there stool is. I don't know if i agree it seems they are green after she has any kind of dairy, but she has had a lactose test and a milk allergy test both were negative. For some reason though she can not handle raw dairy products she gets bad stomach aches and usally vomits and gets green stool so i think it must mean something. we go for our biopsy wednesday good luck to your son.

  18. Called my GI dr yesterday he claims the the test my pedi Dr ran was not a reliable test so he's running some that are more reliable. I told him that this is crazy my DD has just about every text book symptom & a few extras she is in constant pain then to start having days where she can't function is horrible the poor kid is 5 and wants to know why the dr's can't make her belly stop hurting. The dr started to mention IBS and I said NO! Even though i hate to see my DD has to do it I want a biopsy done. so we are still waiting on his blood tests (been over 2wks now) and he is scheduling a ultrasound & bioposy. He also wants me to put her on Prilosec which irritates me because we have tried zantac & tagament before and they did not do anything I feel like he's bringing us backwards instead of forward. Sorry for my ranting I am just very irritated with him. Thus child has been sick since birth and has been through so much I just want her to get better. thank you for listening

  19. Hi I have a strange question. My 5 yr old DD is going through testing for celiac disease Pedi DR says test results were positive sent to GI dr he "wants to rule everything else out first" very frustrating!! But here is my question. 2 times since Christmas my daughter has had a day where she can not get out of bed her head & tummy hurt so bad. no fever just bad headache and tummy it last for almost a whole day then she is fine. I brought her to the Pedi this past friday when ot happened again she checked her over and said Flu I say no way she was better by that night and fine the next day just like it happened on Christmas eve. Has anyone ever had this happen?
