  1. I was scratching my heading thinking My God that woman is a miracle worker or I am just dense. I need to hang out in her kitchen!! Stacie
  2. OKAY!!! Thanks!! I put this on the weekend menu in about 2 more weekends. It will be my first making of scratch anything gluten free. I have made crossiants in the past and it is very stiff and required time in the fridge and stuff like that. will this dough feel the same?? Also what is small curd cottage cheese (shudder at just thinking about it...
  3. The first time I went gluten free unknowing - Phase 1 of the Aitkens diet- I felt HORRIBLE!!!!! THe absolute worst case of flu is what it felt like. It lasted for about 3, 4 days. And happened about a week -10 days into the diet. I hung in there because I wanted to lose weight and then one morning I woke up and felt 100% wonderful!!!! Best I had ever...
  4. vaseline works wonders around here and seems better than any diaper creme. Glob it on thick like a paste every time you change him. with my daughter it takes 3 diaper changes for the bloody stuff to heal and about a day for the rawness to not be so raw looking. Keep it thick and hers disappears in about 2-3 days. oh and use only warm water and a very...
  5. This would all be helped if research would include or start a new research on those who are neg blood, neg biopsy but resolve their symptoms on a gluten free diet and have their symptoms resume on gluten. RIght now my three kids and myself are "neg". Are we neg because we have subclinical Celiac, an allergy to certain grains, or something else involing...
  6. My kids all time favorite meal is cheesy stuffed crossiants. We have it like once a week. They would eat it everyday if they could. Here's how I make it: 2 packages pillsbury crossiants 2 chicken breast cooked/chopped 2 cups cheese 2 cans cream of chicken lay out the crossiants, put in a mound of chicken, roll up crescent style, pinch edges...
  7. I think it is labled trendy or fad because there is no standard rearch or medical acknowledgement beyond Celiac. So if you have Celiac, great it is a must for you. There's research to back up that. But if you are like us where we are neg blood, neg biopsy then this is "trendy" because there isn't anything to back up being wheat/gluten free beyond "I feel...
  8. Does anyone know of a corn wrap that is large? We found some small ones but I would like a large one to make wraps out of. Thanks Stacie
  9. And just to show you how quickly a md will change his mind about Celiac (and not to highjack your thread but it sort goes along with it) All of my baby's biopsies came back normal (I still haven't seen the report to be able to know if that really is the case or what they call normal) even though he felt sure she would present with villi damage upon...
  10. 5) First Gi when you were 16 did the upper and lower gi x rays and prononced your daily vomiting and diaherra for the last 2 years as possible complication from your appendectomy at age 14 and that being female, you were high strung and until you learned to handle stress would have diaherra. and then proceeded to do nothing for either possible problem ...
  11. Well!!!! Hubby is really from Mars. He talked to the dr today who told him point blank keep the baby on wheat and remove all traces of diary from her diet. Wheat is not her problem. IN two weeks, she should be perfectly fine and well on the track of recovery. call back if not. I just bought two weeks of all gluten free food (normal stuff...
  12. They tested her for various sugars and took biopsies from throat, stomache, and small intestine.
  13. Does anyone know if Lactose intolerant will cause on average 6-10 mucos filled mushy or green clear liquid diapers? everything I am reading says it happens after eating things with diary. So if you are eating lots of diary direct and hidden would it cause you to have constant diaherra?? I'm fairly positive even with hidden diary she hasn't been ingesting...
  14. OKAY!! for the ongoing drama, (my 19 month old had biopsy after her ped and the ped gi were convinced she had Celiac classic presentation of it) the lactose biopsy taken from the small intestine came back today. They said this was not a viewing of the villi that was only for the celiac and that it wasn't a blunting of the villa because that was the test...
  15. HI! Okay! I'm a dummy. Now that all the test possible for gi issues have come back neg, the gi is passing the diaherra off as normal for my 19 month old and the ped is referring all issues back to him. so now we are checking into every possible avenue and probiotics and prebiotic keep coming up. So in addition to putting my 3 kids and myself on...
  16. Hi April! How do you test or find out if that's the problem? I'm pretty sure non of that has been considered since she presented so classic for Celiac. This started when she went beyond basic food and moved into wheat stuff around 9-12 month age. Unless that stuff is in the battery of blood work performed when they are searching for why your child...
  17. UGH UGH UGH WHere's the trantum throwing smiley??? Yes I knew the results could come back neg along with the blood work since she's 19 months old but still!!! But now the ped gi is like well everything we could possibly look at has come back normal so she must be normal. So much for the knowledgable dr who seemed so "cutting edge" Not even a sub...
  18. HI! We just had our 19 month undergo the biopsy. She must be on gluten. In fact, gluten at every meal and snack. And we still had (the biospy isn't back yet) only one spot that looked possibly maybe if dr tried hard and squinted one way and held his tongue just right looked like Celiac. For us, we didn't see anything of the biopsy. THey took us back...
  19. You guys are great! Thanks for the opinions. COnsidering how much this stuff costs, I didn't want to blow money without first some idea that somebody liked them. We made the pancakes this weekend and my hubby who eats more bread than anything said he couldn't tell a difference. YEA!! If it was just me, I would live on salads, meat, fruit, vegggies but...
  20. HI! I went browsing today and found several gluten free brands. Some I have heard of here and others I hadn't. Just wondering if anyone had heard of these brands and if you liked them. Cookies/snacks stuff: Enjoy life MiDel Brand (animal cracker thingees) Glutano Glutino Snikiddy Snacks Cereal: Enviorkids Erewhon Nature's path Mixes...
  21. I agree with the others that a picture won't help since they all look different. But my child sounds a lot like yours. In fact I would be rich if I had a dime for every time someone including every dr, nurse, and medical personal that said " She looks picture perfect and healthly at first glance" . Once you strip her clothes off (winter here so everything...
  22. HI Matt! Only problem with this disease is that you have to eat gluten to develop Celiac. And while we have a great dr whose first thought was Celiac, my daughter's blood panels were negative. Which led us to think food allergies and took us down the path of food trials. When we came back around to wheat, we revisited the idea of Celiac since her symptoms...
  23. Going thru this with my own child(never heard of Celiac until just recently) I wouldn't . I wouldn't give gluten until they were past 2 or 3. And if you and 2 kids are dx, then I would just make the whole house gluten-free and never worry about giving the baby any. If he gets any, it would be outside the house. If you feel you must get a dx, do it much...
  24. HI! We finally did the baby's biopsy, 19 months old. She's been on wheat 96 days. Miserable days to say the least. But.... biopsy went fine. It was really easy and he took tons of samples from esphogus(I know that isn't spelled anywhere near right), stomache, and small intenstine. He came out and said this is why we do biopsies since I am looking...
  25. Tell him. But decided before hand if you want an official dx on her. If you do, it will involve gluten challenge of 2-3 months at least and then a biopsy - no small test and risky. If you would rather wait and do that when she is much older or never do it, then be ready to tell the dr that so he won't start pushing for it. But I agree with the others...
