    The first time I went gluten free unknowing - Phase 1 of the Aitkens diet- I felt HORRIBLE!!!!! THe absolute worst case of flu is what it felt like. It lasted for about 3, 4 days.     vaseline works wonders around here and seems better than any diaper creme. Glob it on thick like a paste every time you change him. with my daughter it takes 3 diaper changes for the bloody stuff to heal and about a day for the rawness to not be so raw looking.     This would all be helped if research would include or start a new research on those who are neg blood, neg biopsy but resolve their symptoms on a gluten free diet and have their symptoms resume on gluten.     I think it is labled trendy or fad because there is no standard rearch or medical acknowledgement beyond Celiac. So if you have Celiac, great it is a must for you.     Does anyone know if Lactose intolerant will cause on average 6-10 mucos filled mushy or green clear liquid diapers? everything I am reading says it happens after eating things with diary.     Going thru this with my own child(never heard of Celiac until just recently) I wouldn't . I wouldn't give gluten until they were past 2 or 3. And if you and 2 kids are dx, then I would just make the whole house gluten-free and never worry about giving the baby any. If he gets any, it would be outside the house. It was really easy and he took tons of samples from esphogus(I know that isn't spelled anywhere near right), stomache, and small intenstine.     Tell him. But decided before hand if you want an official dx on her. If you do, it will involve gluten challenge of 2-3 months at least and then a biopsy - no small test and risky. If you would rather wait and do that when she is much older or never do it, then be ready to tell the dr that so he won't start pushing for it. But I agree with the others...
