ARCHIVED Changing Reactions To AlcoholBSinCO replied to Sailing Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I am just learning about Candida, but from what I have read it is common to coexist with Celiac. On of the major symptoms is an intolerance to alcohol. Have any of you had problems with Candida? BS

I would love to hear more information. I am waiting to be transferred from his partner to him. I can't believe I was in the same office and ended up with a Dr. that doesn't have a clue about what we are going through. It turned me off from gastroenterologists in general. How long have you been seeing Dr. Lewey? BS

I really hope you can find a Doctor that will help. It sucks that there are so many uniformed doctors out there. I wonder if Dr. Lewey can do phone consults? I will ask him when I get an appointment. I hope it won't take too long to get one. It really is nice to be able to offer support as well as receive it here. Thank you for all of your feedback...

I thank all of you for the support and advice. It is so nice to know that I am not alone. Welcome Carole. I hope you get as much from this forum as I am. As a result of the posts here and elsewhere I started looking into Candida and I went to Vitamin Cottage yesterday. I started on a Candida medicine that contains positive bacteria to replace the Candida...

Soy intolerance is very common. I cannot have any soy. It actually creates a reaction just a strong as gluten for me. If you find out that you need to avoid soy as well, make sure you watch out for vitamin E. It is very often derived from soy.

No I haven't because it's on the other side of town, but I will check it out. Thank you. BS

I have not been happy with the take over so far. There is nobody on site to talk to about concerns. I am really not happy to hear that there are cross contamination problems. They are supposed to be a health food store. You would think that they would be more aware of and supportive of the growing group of people with severe allergies. Thank you again...

ARCHIVED Non-celiac Gluten IntolerantBSinCO replied to princezz1983's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease celiac lesions, I am really curious about this. I have never heard about celiac lesions. I recently had an MRI because of ongoing low back pain. What they found are two cysts on my lower spine. Is it possible that they are being caused by the Celiac? BS

ARCHIVED Popcorn And Gluten?BSinCO replied to MrMark's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease I had issues with popcorn before going gluten-free as well. What I found out when I was tested for allergies was that I am allergic to corn. I have eliminated it along with soy, dairy, and tomato as well as gluten. Corn is a very common allergen. I would try to avoid it. BS

ARCHIVED My Husband Just Doesn't UnderstandBSinCO replied to kali-mist's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Thank you for getting us back on track. We are all here to give and receive support. The last thing we need is to feel selfish for wanting to be healthy. I talked to my husband about this thread and he asked if he was doing enough to keep me safe and offered several suggestions on ways he could do even better. He has been wonderfully supportive while...

ARCHIVED Elimination Diet Gone Wrong?BSinCO replied to misdiagnosed6yrs's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Hi Bobbi, I also have problems with raw fruit and veggies. I have been told that both of them are harder to digest, especially when your stomach is just trying to recover. I think it is different for everyone, so you will have to find out what works best for you. I think it makes the most sense to do a true elimination diet where you only have a few...

I am so sorry to hear how bad things have gotten for you. I really appreciate your advice and support. I was reading through some of the posts and started researching Candida and gut dysbiosis. Ironically the site I found that has great information on this and other Celiac issues is a gastroenterologist right here in CO Springs. He is the Dr. for...

Thank you for the kind words. When I started the diet, I was gung-ho. I was giving others advice on all of the sites I found and the recipes I was trying. Lately, I seem to be going through the grief period that I think I should have gone through a year and a half ago. I am not really sure how to handle it. BS

ARCHIVED My Husband Just Doesn't UnderstandBSinCO replied to kali-mist's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease My husband is a type 2 diabetic. He doesn't scream and holler when someone brings in some sort of goodie that he can't have into the house. He deals with it. I don't think it is selfish to ask for space to keep yourself healthy, and expect the person you married to respect that for you benefit. The example given is very different from what was describe...

ARCHIVED My Husband Just Doesn't UnderstandBSinCO replied to kali-mist's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease In my kitchen, I have designated cupboards that have my food and dishes. I have my own toaster and have pretty much taken over the freezer. Maybe you could section off the kitchen so that you have your area and they have theirs. Put up signs on the cupboards, drawers, and on the counter indicating that it is your area. Leave information packets about...

ARCHIVED Changing Reactions To AlcoholBSinCO replied to Sailing Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I have definitely had the same reaction. I can't have any alcohol that is grain based. I get overly drunk very quickly and have an exaggerated hangover the next day. I have found a new drink that I love though. It is Malibu Rum and pineapple juice. It is really yummy and if I keep it under control, I don't have a hangover at all. Before I went gluten...

I have been on a gluten free diet for over a year now, but I am still having many symptoms. I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, sjogrens, and I have several problems with my lower back, hips, and muscles in general. I have had chronic pain for over 6 years now. I was accidentally glutened on Christmas Eve and have been struggling ever since...

ARCHIVED I Think I'm Going To Eat Gluten On Purpose!BSinCO replied to LoriG's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Hi, This is my first time in a forum, but I am glad I joined. There is so much great information here. I ready your response and became very interested. I have been gluten, dairy, soy, corn, and tomato free for a year and a half now. I am still having problems. I also have hypothyroidism, but the medication does not seem to be helping. I am curious...
