  1. It's really difficult to eat in a restaurant unless you pick Mexican or Chinese or Japanese. They seem to put wheat starch and flour in everything. Cybergran10
  2. Hi Smith, I know this post is over a month old and maybe you already found your answer, but I was thinking dairy might do it. I know I have to avoid dairy at all costs. Are you lactose intolerant? Just a thought. Cybergran10
  3. Congratulations Kathleen. Good for you, 35 pounds is no mean feat. I'm sorry you still have medical problems to deal with that makes your success harder to enjoy. Hubby will get used to the new you, sometimes partners get a little insecure when we change ourselves, but with a little time and patience we can show them that we still are basically the same,...
  4. I have been able to add small amounts of dairy to my diet with out any ill effects. So I think you may be right. I think sometimes you get a hold of something that has been cross contiminated with gluten no matter how careful you are. I did that last saturday and boy did I ever pay for it. All you can do is try to make sure you prepare your own food as much...
  5. I've been doing this Gluten free diet for awhile now. Everyone has had some wonderful suggestions. When I am not low carbing I llke to take gluten free pasta and do a stir fry and add the pasta. You can add a gluten free sauce and you have a complete meal. Or chilli is always good. I only cook glutenfree so it's been awhile since my hubby has had any gluten...
  6. Hi All, I am so pleased with myself I have lost another 3 pounds so far this week. I had been stuck for about 3 months, but now I seem to have broken the stall. I'm not sure how long it is going to take me to lose my 25 more pounds because I am a very slow loser, but I guess I will have to learn to celebrate every small achievement as something positive....
  7. Hi Everyone, Thanks t everyone who answered my post. I can understand how over whelming it can be when you are finally diagnosed. On one hand it is so wonderful to finally define that you are not a hypochondriac that something is definitely wrong, but on the other hand there is an entire food group that is off limits. I myself went thru a stage where I was...
  8. Isn't it amazing, when you think of celiac disease you think of someone extremely underweight. I never fit the mold, my doctor is not happy aboutmy low carb diet, but it is the only thing that works for me. Weight Watchers was a joke, and counting calories never worked for me because I make a very bad hungry person. So for me I alternate between Atkins and...
  9. You may not be able to collect from the celiac disease, but maybe from your other ailments. All you can do is try. Good Luck, Judy
  10. Hi All, Just signed up about a few minutes ago. I'm 52, have 4 children and 10 grand children. I was diagnosed in 93, so have had time to perfect the diet. The food is not that bad and it sure beats getting sick every time you eat something that you shouldn't. I had the opposit problem, I was an overweight celiac. My doctor refused to test me for a time because...
