  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. I just happened to come across this website where for $50 you order your own test. Sounds like it might be something new for those who are thinking about getting tested. If this has already been posted, then I apologize (i did a search but nothing came up.) Open Original Shared Link
  3. I get my vitamins from Whole Foods and I use AOR brand, says gluten free right on the package. I use the Multi Basic 3 ( I take 2 daily) and also the Bone Basics (4 a day), because my gastro told me I need 1200 g of calcium every day. We celiacs are at risk of osteoperosis and I don't eat any dairy. The magnesium also helps me sleep better at night....
  4. I was one month off gluten and then had my biopsy, and it still came back positive for celiac. My villi were "blunted", which the enterologist said were not as bad as flat villi. I asked her if it could have been due to my starting the diet before my biopsy and she indicated it was possible. My blood test results showed very high antibodies, so I was expecting...
  5. I have been gluten free for 3 1/2 months - I react rarely now. I do limit my dairy because anything more than a few cubes of cheese or some milk in gluten-free cereal, I will not feel right. I also limit carbs because I was finding that rice cakes, GFcrackers or gluten-free chips also bother me if I eat too much of it. So I just have a bit and I'm ok....
  6. I'm on my second month of gluten free eating and I'm now starting to feel better. I also had bad constipation, bloating, carb cravings, hunger, insomnia. Try taking magnesium with calcium (gluten-free kind) to help you sleep. For me I can't eat too much or my tummy can't handle it. If I eat moderate portions with 2-3 hours between, then I feel ok. take...
  7. I am very interested as to why some of us cannot tolerate carbohydrates - is it because our guts are so damaged? (I say this as I eat my bowl of rice for supper).... I have been gluten-free for 2 months now but have noticed something is not right after I eat grains, not rice so much, but more the gluten-free bread and stuff. I always thought I was...
  8. I'm actually having an attack right now, it's my 4th day of pain and I can't figure out what I have accidently ingested. That's the worse part for me - overanalysing and getting depressed feeling like I've just taken 4 steps back from the wonderful 2 steps forward I was so happy about earlier in the week. Terrible gas, constipation, irritability and insomnia...
  9. I don't know of any alternative test but for kids they have "butterfly" needles which are painless and so thin that you literally don't feel anything. (My friend has to use them since her veins are horrible). They are for very small veins (like kids) and veins that are hard to find. You have to ask for it though. I am going through the same thing -...
  10. On the topic of kitchens and disinfecting, I've wanted to ask this question. In a gluten household with a dishwasher, we still wash some dishes by hand. However I wondered about the dishcloth (J cloths) - gluten can stick to it. Is rinsing it good enough? We clean counters with it as well as dishes. I change mine often - every few weeks. I hope this...
  11. Another vote for toaster ovens. It's the first thing I bought - it's on the other side of the kitchen just under my cupboard with all my gluten-free food. I love bread too much to not have one. Mine is a combination toaster and oven. It has the slits on top for toast, or I cook my meat, pizza, or whatever in the oven, seperate from my family's meal, so...
  12. It really makes sense now that it's all about rethinking the food that is the hardest part, as gfpaperdoll said. The suggestions about changing a meal like lasagna to replace the cheese with something else is excellent, but when I have 3 gluten eating people in my family who will likely refuse to eat anything with fried onions on it may be a challenge. ...
  13. I've been reading your responses about avoiding dairy. I'm trying to avoid as well but wondered does mozzarella cheese count as a hard cheese? What do you use for lasagnas. I can't imagine a lasagna without cheese... I feel like I'm cutting out all the pleasures of food.... even though I've found the alternatives sometimes taste better than the gluten...
  14. LilyCeliac, I just sent you a personal message, I recommended someone to you.
  15. Thanks Ravenwoodglass. Turns out that once my gastro specialist found out I was already on gluten-free diet she moved up my scope to this Friday! (cancellation I guess). I'll go this one time because I may still show signs of damage. If there's one thing I've learned so far is that doctors from old school way of learning like mine really think Celiac...
