    ARCHIVED Can't Sleep...!

I found a glass of red wine has a certain...lulling effect
  2. O. M&Ms are my absolute favourite candy and, as luck would have it, I also happen to live in NZ...hm. Looks like I'm going to have to find a new fav...any recommendations?
  3. How odd! I have the same problem this morning, after having tried to incorporate dairy (yoghurt) last night back into my diet. I used to get this prob fairly regularly. My colonoscopy was all clear. Have you tried eliminating dairy?? xo

    ARCHIVED Can't Sleep...!

Thank ya'll for your advice! I'm digesting (hehe) it all, and will keep you posted on how it all goes. I must admit, I have developed quite the obsession with dried fruit and had, in the past, suspected I may be suffering from Candida. I will take out the caffeine and the fruit and see what happens...I would never have considered the flax oil, the so-called...

    ARCHIVED Can't Sleep...!

Tbankyou so much for this!! I'm definitely taking your advice on board...can I ask, how do you know if you are experiencing a fungal reaction...? What are the symptoms, and how do they differ from the usual Celiac problems? Thanks again!! xo :-)
  6. Hello, and welcome!! Boy, do I feel your pain. Just from observing the posts of others in this forum, I wouldn't, unfortunately, recommend any one "superfood" that absolutely anyone and everyone can tolerate - there are far too many individual variations; we all react differently to different things. Having said THAT, I have been reading the thread discussing...
  7. So I've been gluten/dairy/soy free for one month now...and, for some reason, my sleep appears to be completely affected by it (it, or something else??) I lay awake for hours, and when I finally do drift off, have been having the most intense, disturbing dreams for which I have no real explanation...the weird thing is, I haven't had probs with sleep for years...
  8. Thank-you all for your wonderfully supportive replies. It isn't that I don't realize that no current damage is a good thing (!) but it does make you feel as if your diagnosis isn't taken quite as seriously if you don't have that tangible evidence. I feel that having the antibodies is enough, but they (the medical profession) insist on the biopsy being a ...
  9. Has anyone heard of/been diagnosed with this? I recently had a biopsy, and it came back negative for bowel damage...but my GI said that because I tested positive for the antibodies, I have Latent Celiac - and thus will require follow-up tests throughout the next ten years. I have decided to continue with the gluten-free diet simply because I feel better on...

    ARCHIVED Soy!?!?!

I am in the early days of healing, and have also been having problems with soy (and dairy, but for some reason soy seems to be the main offender!) How long have you been gluten free? I have been told that it is very common to find your body reacts to various other foods in the first few months of recovery. Try cutting out soy for now, and reintroducing it...
  11. Hey guys, So I got the results from my biopsy back yesterday - negative - so my doctor is saying that what I have is "latent" celiac disease, which means that I have the antibodies but no intestinal damage (yet). He says that this could still appear later on in life, and that I will need another biopsy in another ten years. My question is, how does this...
  12. Thank-you; I will definitely look into this! Why do you think it is that you get them when you travel? I will be travelling to the UK in April, so any recommendations for preventative meds would be gratefully received...
  13. I guess the reason it seems to stand out as so strange is that, even amidst all my other symptoms, never before have I experienced anything remotely like this. Prior to diagnosis, it was all GI related. I've never had a migraine before in my life before last night...
  14. Hey there, I am recently diagnosed with celiac disease, and have been gluten-free for five days. Overall, I have been feeling an amazing improvement - all but for last night when I experienced what can only be described as a migraine aura, without the head pain (okay, so there was a little pain). I couldn't read or write coherently; was seeing weird, ...
  15. I know this is going to sound kind of ridiculous, but the thing is I have a colonoscopy/gastroscopy double procedure on Wednesday, and I'm utterly terrified...it's a combination of the procedure itself and worrying myself silly about what could be found. I know that I will be sedated throughout, but after scanning the net and reading horror stories about...
  16. I'm not sure as to whether or not this applies overseas, but in New Zealand, the "gold standard" test for Celiac is biopsy via gastroscopy, which involves inserting a "flexible telescope" down the throat and taking samples of the duodenum. As far as I know, a rectal biopsy (aka colonoscopy) usually tests for other, potentially serious illnesses. My GP has...
  17. Jewi, I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. I'm going in for a biopsy (via gastroscopy) as well as a colonoscopy on the 20th. I am 25, and have been experiencing symptoms (for which nobody offered any viable explanation) for five years now. Personally, I cannot wait (to get these procedures done) so that I can finally begin to take control...
  18. Ugh. Feeling generally ick today. Looks like it truely did take a while for the gluten to kick in...:-( Oh, well. Only another twelve days...
  19. Carolyn, My symptoms don't fit exactly with what you are describing, but I am absolutely certain that there are others on this board that can empathize with you. My own experience involves other kinds of pain that, despite being different in how they manifest themselves, are still symptoms of the same thing and have often left me wondering if they will...
  20. O, the other thing is, despite having reintroducted gluten into my diet, I have continued to eliminate both soy and dairy. Perhaps this could be coming into play??
  21. This will be my third...
  22. OK, so, in anticipation of my upcoming endoscopy (and colonoscopy - two at once!) in two weeks, I have resumed a gluten-inclusive diet (2 slices of bread per day). Prior to this, I had been gluten free for eleven days. Prior to THAT, I had been experiencing awful gastro probs (bloating, C, etc) for the past several months. These did not clear up (although...
  23. I have just been reviewing my blood tests, having been given a referral for a biopsy by my GP, and am a little confused over the results...it states the following: Anti Endomysium (IgA): not detected. Tissue Transglutaminase (IgA): 60 units (<16) H IgA: 3.00 g/l (0.9 - 4.0) My doc has stated that the Tissue Transglutaminase antibodies are exorbitantly...
  24. I haven't known anything to push things through my system like brown rice does. It's true that white rice can plug you up, and is recommended for cases of DH, but brown rice is quite the opposite. I didn't believe it til I tried it...
