ARCHIVED Low Platelets, Jaundice, And Purple Lips
flourgirl replied to wykey's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi Lydia. I am not aware of these as Celiac symptoms. If I were you I'd be on the phone with your child doctor asap. Jaundice could be an indication of serious illness. Blue lips sound like not enough oxygen. Please, I urge you to make a call. If you need to make notes on things you need to discuss, write your notes before you see the doc. I do...... -
There are several options for you in cooking and baking. I don't use pre-made mixes because most of them have proved disappointing to me. I did buy a couple of cookbooks specifically for gluten free. You can search for sites on-line for recipes, too. A lot of recipes have been posted here as well. Recently I bought some Nearly Normal flour blend...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Pie Crusts?
flourgirl replied to churn's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm not sure how this would work for quiche, but it works fine for pies. I don't know why it wouldn't work for you, too. Best I've found so far: 2/3 cup brown rice flour 2/3 cup tapioca flour 2/3 cup potato starch 3 TBL corn starch 1 TBL xanthan gum 1 1/2 tsp salt 10 TBL cold butter in chunks 2 eggs beaten in processor mix dry ingrediants Add... -
Personally I think This is where you need to be now. There is a lot of information here. You have the diagnosis, it's up to you to learn and to take control. I don't think many doctors out there really know or understand just what you are dealing with. You do. My advice...read up on posts here, and the many sites that are out there that will help you...

Hi Poppy Cat! A lot of us here know exactly what you're going through! We do. I went through the same feelings learning about the diet, experimenting with foods, the time it takes to do shopping when you have to read all of the ingredients and the confusion over it all. Add to that the confusing symptoms, some of which seem to show up after you start...

The best part of being unable to handle drinking....no hangovers! Never had one and have no interest in finding out. Does not sound like phun to moi. Telehubby is playing with his tools in the basement.....very large and noisy tools they are I have pretty much denuded my house of Christmas. I guess I've had enough of it for one year. Living room... -

I'm not sure about the storms....but this reaffirms for me my theory that (in mammograms, at least) when you force certain cells to collide on a 2 dimensional plane they create a black hole.....thus, it is not a good thing to squish mammies from 3 dimensions to 2.....all of those black holes!!!! <> Jess.....I absolutely love the poem... -

As you might guess....I love the trees. Can't stand to see them just destroyed! In this area there are lots of new housing developements. They clear out every single tree . I can't stand it! So then people have to plant new trees.....which take forever to become their beautiful selves. I DO like that there are still lots of orchards around here... -

Oooohhh, good for you!! Give yourself a pat on the back. We all experiment with our recipes to find something decent. I've had many failures, but getting better and better results. I've had no problem freezing breads, then thawing and warming later. I don't eat a lot of bread, so it's the only way for me to keep it and not waste most of it. So...

Awww Pieter....sweet li'l bear!!! Mothers can be so unintentionally cruel, trying to do the right thing for their babbies I had a stuffed monkey that I finally gave to my son a couple of years ago. I wonder if he still has it? I'm almost afraid to ask. Probabaly being chewed on by my granddaughter I used to play guitar in a country band.....and... -

I have this most insane mental picture of a mother-figure calmly, slowly pulling out of the drive, then when she's far enough away to not be seen or heard.....really cranking the radio to something like Bohemian Rhapsody.......bombing and bouncing away down the road singing away....when the radio just can't take it anymore.... bursts into flame and quits... -

Nikola.....I think Tiger Pig should maintain his well earned place of honor. Perhaps he should "rest" in the closet on Mums visiting days. You know how that feels, don't you?....that insane desire to rest in the closet during family visits? Krank up the Krankeeeeee (wheeeee). I certainly enjoy a good Krankee once in a while -

Life is just SO full of mysteries! Psilliville is mysteriouser and mysteriouser And.....what DOES it all mean? I think Nik-Niks binky needs more of a name than just Ducky. Her Tiger Pig has three syllables, and you don't want the new binky to be jealous! Hows about Duck Duck Goose? -

I had the same issues after I started the gluten-free diet. I think part of it was "withdrawal" from the gluten, part of it was the absolute seemingly unending sickness. With everything I was dealing with, I know I was depressed and not at all myself. For a long time I didn't like myself at all, and avoided people as much as I could because I felt no tolerance... -

Geez Suz, here we are pickin' on ya, and maybe it's not really that funny (no, really) Honestly, tho', there is a live one out there somewhere. I stayed single for a loooooonnnnnggg time. Divorced in 1982. Didn't date a whole lot.....no time.....not much interest.....lots of bottom-feeders in life's little pond. Anyway, met my telehubby in 2001... -

Range-man? Rocky? Riccardo? An old cleaning woman steps into an elevator to go up to the top floor to start her day of cleaning offices. On the next floor the elevator stops, and a woman enters who is dressed to the nines. As she presses the button for her stop, the cleaning lady sniff, sniffs and wrinkles her nose. The fancy woman says, "Oh...
