  1. I take Nature Made vitamins. Most of them are gluten free and say so on the bottle. I don't take one with iron because I take a Slow Fe iron pill each day but I'm pretty sure they had a one-a-day type with iron in it also. Hope this helps.
  2. Thanks so much, CruelShoes. No, that made things alot clearer for me. I will have them get the blood test as my GI doc said and then if they are negative, I'll just have them do it again in a couple years. I guess the gene test isn't necessary at this time and if they want to have it done themselves in the future, they can. My GI doc ran all the blood...
  3. Hi CruelShoes, When you said one of your children was positive and one negative and then you mentioned that your son was asymptomatic, was your son the positive one? I'm confused about the testing getting mixed information about whether I should have my children tested and which tests to have done. If they are asymptomatic (as they all are now), will...
  4. I take SlowFe for my anemia and have had no problem with it. I also take Nature Made multi-vitamins.
  5. Thanks so much, happygirl. That is exactly the same site I had read about it on, just couldn't remember where I saw it! I'm printing it out to take to my doctor. Thanks again.
  6. I have a question about testing children, also, although mine are much older....21 year old twins and 23 year old son. They are all without obvious symptoms, but then so was I. If the doctor does the blood tests for the IGA levels, etc. and they come out negative, do I request the gene test, also? I'd like them to know if they are carriers of the gene...
  7. I have been taking Citracal and according to their website, they are gluten-free. There is no phone number on the bottle, but you can check under www.citracal.com. Hope this helps.
  8. Do the cleaning products that are used around the home need to be gluten-free? If items get washed with detergent containing gluten, but are rinsed off...such as your clothing and dishes or if you are cleaning with a gluten item, but always wash your hands before eating anything, do you have to be that careful with the products? And if so, is there a list...
  9. I'm diagnosed with celiac disease for 1 month with positive bloodwork and biopsy. I had not gastro symptoms. I was anemic and had osteoporosis and the doctor tested me because of that. When I asked my doctor about having my 23 year old son and 21 year old twins tested she didn't seem too concerned, but after pushing her on it she said OK. She only wants...

ARCHIVED Recommend A Doctor In You State

Does anyone know of a doctor in Nassau County on Long Island, NY? Thanks. (I'll even take somone in western Suffolk County.)
  11. Thanks for checking, Lisa.
  12. I just called Centrum. They have reformulated their vitamins. If you are just taking the basic Centrum old formula with 60mg of Vit C it is gluten-free. The new formulation (that actually says New Formulation on the bottle) with 90mg of Vit C is no longer guaranteed gluten-free. When I was diagnosed a month ago I went on their website to check and it...

    ARCHIVED Acronym Help

OK..good...I'm glad I saw this post, because I felt kind of stupid. Does DD, DS, DH mean Darling Daughter, etc? And are we required to use them? I wasn't sure. LOL Thanks
  14. Thanks for the ideas! I'm off to the store.
  15. OK, it's been 2 weeks since diagnosis and I am slowly getting my life back in order! I'm making my lists of food I can eat and products I can use. But I'm having a hard time figuring out a hand lotion I can use. Any suggestions? And here is what I've found is OK so far.....please, please don't anyone tell me there's anything wrong with these, I just might...
  16. Hi Help Me I was wondering how your gastroenterologist appt went. And what he said about how you would know if you ate gluten since you were symptom free before like me? Just curious. I don't have a follow-up appt for another 2 weeks. Thanks.
  17. I've only been on the gluten-free diet for 2 weeks and the first week I had no intestinal problems (I had none to speak of before I was diagnosed anyway). I've been lactose intolerant for 30 years on and off...had no problems whatsoever drinking milk and eating dairy the 2 times I was pregnant. Ive always controlled it by drinking Lactaid milk and taking...
  18. Thanks HelpMe. I'd appreciate hearing what your dr. says and when I go back in a month I'll do likewise. Good Luck getting information.
  19. When you are strictly following a gluten-free diet and you are accidentally CC or eat something that you thought was gluten-free and is not, does it actually take you back to the beginning of your illness? Does it wipe out all the 'good' that you have done for yourself? That is one of my biggest concerns. How can you know if you are doing any damage to...
  20. Thanks for you help. This site is wonderful. I feel really alone out here. Don't know a soul who has this and can't find a support group on Long Island. Anyone know of any here, please let me know. My doctor just told me to stop eating gluten and go on-line and do as much research as I can. And come back in a month. Not very reassuring.
  21. I was diagnosed with celiac disease this past Monday. I've never had intestinal symptons (diarrhea, etc.). The doctors discovered it when I was diagnosed with osteoporsis after a bone density test because of my age (52) and the fact that I'd gone through menopause. I was put on Boniva which gave me hearburn. Then at my yearly physical 2 months later I...
