ARCHIVED Pasta/sauce Mixes
GEF replied to lablady51's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
lablady posted this on a duplicate thread... just thought I'd add it here: Mrs. Leeper's pasta/sauce mixes are delicious and easy. They taste great cold for school lunches when heating isn't an option. I found them in a local grocery store in central MA...but if you can't find them here is the distributor. American Italian Pasta Company Kansas City,... -
Hello Dan, I have no experience with it (at least yet), but Tiffany (tarnalberry) did post about the subject here if you'd like to check it out: Open Original Shared Link Gretchen

I found this: Many studies have reported decreased spleen size (hyposplenism) in adults with celiac disease. Open Original Shared Link Gretchen

I got a couple of boxes during lunch to try out... the raspberry & tropical fruit flavors. They were majorly on sale at the Vitamin Shoppe... like 40% off! I added a packet of the raspberry vitamin packet to my iced tea.. and it was good!!! I'm feeling pretty good today anyway, but I'm definitely going to try them out on my "down" days too to see if...

ARCHIVED Celiac In Toronto News Today
GEF replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Publications & Publicity
celiac3270, Think of it this way... church aside, I'm sure we'd be just as upset if a company were acting like this! Being that it's a church, you'd expect better.... it's unfortunate. I'd better get off this topic before I get more upset! -
ARCHIVED Celiac In Toronto News Today
GEF replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Publications & Publicity
I'd have to agree with you there, celiac3270. Religious-stance aside, I sit here think about what's most important to God and that's love... I don't think I'd have any argument there. It would be my greatest hope to see the church display that to this little girl and to all celiacs alike. It breaks my heart when I see this... I mean, what kind of opinion... -
Thank you, Rebecca! I visited their website and will see if I can get them today. They have a list of retailers on their site, and a few of them are local. I know this is bad, but I usually eat the Flintstone's chewables... regular multi's are awfully strong and give me nausea. If it weren't for celiac, I probably wouldn't be drinking coffee. Oh...

Absolutely! I have to wait until 10/8, but I'm going there with a list!!

I have heard that Pantene's hairspray is gluten-free.. are there any others? My scalp gets irritated from hairspray and I always thought it was the alcohol, I'm thinking of switching to a gluten-free brand to see if it helps. Thanks! Gretchen

ARCHIVED How Gf Should I Be?
GEF replied to hthorvald's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Now, I never thought that shampoos could make a difference either... but I did get this shampoo called Nioxin from the salon, since my sylist said it makes your hair grow faster. I have a wedding approaching and thought I'd see if it actually worked. After a week or so of using it, I got a tremendous headache and had bad cloud-head, and I'm not one to get... -
I agree! I'm going to ask my doctor about those. Although I'm not much of a shot person, I'd gladly take them if it helped! Mysteriously, I have energy and no cloud-head today... I'm running through all the things in my mind that could have caused that! I wonder if this is what people feel like normally? Dk... I need just as much rest as you...

Hahahahahaa! That's what I feel like doing!

ARCHIVED Dr. Has No Clue!
GEF replied to momof2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
momof2, I must say that it was interesting that the laboratory cancelled the rest of the labs. I believe it's important to have them run... for a baseline, even if not for diagnosis. At the same turn, it's amazing that your doctor would consider the one test enough for a diagnosis! It's great that you have a doctor that's willing to learn about celiac... -
Good luck with the tests!!

ARCHIVED Sheesh, Why Am I Still Having Problems?
GEF replied to HappyCat22's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello Rebecca and welcome to the forum! I was just mentioning to my fiance last night that I'd be soooo healthy if it weren't for this intolerance issue. I'm 28 and know what it's like to be so young and feel soooo tired... it's just not normal for people our age to have no energy. I'm in the midst of a massive report here at work and it's a challenge... -
ARCHIVED A Non Dairy Cheese Thats Really Dairy Free?
GEF replied to Racheleona's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Lactose is a milk sugar and casein is a milk protein. There is an enzyme called lactase that aids in the digestion of lactose... that's why you'll hear of lactose intolerant people taking the suppliment called Lactaid to help them with dairy products. However, it does not help with casein intolerance... I believe if you have that, you'll need to steer clear... -
I'm in the midst of more testing, which means that I'm not gluten-free yet. Believe, every passing day I detest gluten more and can't wait to ban it from my life. But I'm dealing with an energy level that is so unbearably low and I don't know what could help. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Gretchen
-
I agree with celiac3270. That Ttg test is specific to intestinal damage... which means that if a biopsy were performed, it would most likely be positive. Gretchen

That's what I'm thinking, Mydnyt. I don't know what upsets me more... the celiac diagnosis loss of credibility or the fact that these people might still be celiac and are now hurting their bodies. As beautiful as Australia is, I sure glad I'm not there through the diagnosis.

ARCHIVED Trident Gum?
GEF replied to lyndszai's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
They claim that their gum is in fact gluten free. Here is a link to their website: (see question #4 under their "Questions" page) Open Original Shared Link -
I lie on my stomach, it's the only thing that works for me and I lay there until I feel better.. I find that the less my abdomen muscles are used, the better I feel more quickly. GasX was my ultimate cure for the bad stomach pains... but, that's before I found out it contains gluten. Why can't they make a gluten-free GasX? Oh, also peppermint tea is soothing...

No need to apoligize, Jill! I saw you logged on, so I thought I'd ask I got some diagnosis tests on Saturday afternoon and they had my test results already (actually, I think they called on Monday... but I didn't call them back because there was no way the lab was that quick).. they really were that quick! Great about your classes starting.. hope...

Hello Kate, I probably wouldn't be too bad of an idea to make a visit to your GI to rule out lupus, since it's in the bloodline. They can simply do an ANA test (auto-nuclear), which is a blood test. It's in my family too, so when I was getting tested for celiac I asked them to check this too. My ANA was negative. But it is nice to get things ruled...

Hey, Jill!! No news yet? Gretchen

ARCHIVED Gf & Feeling Good - Negative Blood Test
GEF replied to ksimpson's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
See if you can get the exact results from your tests, they might be of some help. It's important to know which ones were run, as there are many. Also, some show negative on their blood tests, but when given a biopsy, show positive... that is not uncommon. Some never show positive, but improve on the diet (there are many in that situation). Being on a...
