    I have read about kids whose "growing pains" never recurred after going gluten free. So I would say celica/gluten intolerance CAN cause bone pain. I'm almost convinced it can cause just about anything! If certain things don't resolve on a totally gluten free diet, then I'd pursue some other avenues for those symptoms. Nancy

    Ciao! I am an American stationed overseas in Italy and I'm looking for gluten free flour to bake with for my ds. There is a farmacia not too far from our house that has a lot of gluten free items, but they all seem to have dairy or egg in them which he is also allergic to.     Skin testing tests for IgE reactions, which involve histamine (think hay fever, itchy eyes, watery eyes, runny nose, anaphylaxis).     What you probably want to request is an ELISA or RAST blood test (I'm not sure of the difference) to check for IgG reactions to foods. They can test IgE via RAST (not sure about ELISA, we haven't dealt with that) as well, so you might have to specifically request IgG.     Thank you for your explanation. It makes sense, though I agree that it is strange to include it! They did do the Endomysium IgA test which was negative, but w/out a total IgA I don't know if that is valid. I finally got my referral put through from the doc, now I'm waiting to hear back from the GI with an appt. There are two hospitals I can go to here...

    I keep reading that the blood tests are not totally reliable. You could order the genetics test from enterolab which would tell if you have the genes for celiac or gluten intolerance. If those are negative, then I'm not sure what to say, except that maybe there are more genes involved than they currently are aware of, or it's not a celiac/gluten intolerance...

    I would be leary of going on the recruiter's word. Their job is to recruit, and many have lied in order to meet their requirements. Not all recruiters are bad, but there are some that will say whatever it takes! I dont' know for sure, "just" being an Air Force dependant wife, but I doubt there are gluten free MREs.     I am in limbo too. My tests came back inconclusive I guess. I was positive to the IgG anti-gliadin, but negative to the IgA anti-gliadin. Also negative to the anti-endomysial IgA. But (and it's a big BUT) they didn't test Total IgA or the Ttg IgA test. I am waiting on my referral (the doc didn't put it in like he was supposed to, so a week wasted, now...

    I'm not sure what it means, we don't produce gliadin, gliadin is the portion of the gluten protein that our bodies react to with celiac disease. Knowing what tests were done specifically would help. Our bodies produce antibodies, so either the test was negative (no antibodies detected or within normal limits) or the overall antibody type (like IgA) production...

    My MIL has rhumatoid arthritis, had a heart attack about 10 years ago, double bypass surgery, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, and is on oxygen (long story behind that, I think it is the hospital's fault).
