ARCHIVED Lactose Intolerance
Dolcenotte posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have a very strong suspicion I am lactose intolerant due to celiac disease. I've sometimes felt something off when I drank milk or ate cheese. I would like to know your experiences with lactose, what we should avoid, and what we really need to avoid to not feel the same way gluten affects us. I just found out my birth control pill has lactose in it. I also... -
ARCHIVED Why We Should All Be Drinking Wine...
Dolcenotte replied to CuriousOne's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Would this apply to me as a person who is just trying to start the healing process? Or will red wine make more damage. As previously posted on another topic, My villi are destroyed and I have ulcerations on my intestines. I really enjoy red wine with my dinner and I know it has so many great benefits. Maybe it will help my villi grow back?? -

ARCHIVED No Set Definition Of Gluten-free?
Dolcenotte posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was just reading that the FDA and the FALCPA (food allergen labeling and consumer protection act) do not state an exact defintion of gluten free and that each company makes up its own definition it goes by. How do we know if something is labelled gluten free is safe then? How has everyone here managed with that? Has anyone eaten something actually labelled... -

I use Wen Products and I really like the way they make my hair look and feel. The trick is to use alot unfortunately to achieve desirable results. But if it turns out its not WEN, try... -
ARCHIVED Question About Hair/beauty Products
Dolcenotte posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i do not have the skin reaction to gluten like some people do, however I am concerned about the beauty products I use because almost all of them contain some wheat protein in the middle of the ingredient list. Now, as I was showering yesterday i was wondering...I'm washing my hair with this...what if a drip accidentally falls by my lip or in my mouth, and... -
ARCHIVED Question About Coldcuts From Supermarket/deli
Dolcenotte posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i just realized that even if I eat gluten free coldcuts - Boarshead, Thuman's Hormel, etc, that they will be sliced on the same slicer as everything that contains gluten. Will having them wipe it with a rag (probably a dirty gluten filled one too, ick!) What are your experiences? Also, even if it is pre-packaged and labelled gluten free, how do we know they... -
