  1. I don't know for sure, but it could be. Thyroid problems can definitely affect your cycles. I have Grave's disease where my immune system attacks my thyroid but it never affected my cycles. It did, however, give me morning sickness when I was not pregnant. I haven't had any trouble with it since I had radiation. If you are worried about it though you can...

  3. Just thought I'd add my son's list of symptoms for others to reference. They may not all have been from Celiac but I kept track of everything in case the doc needed it:
  4. My son had those symptoms as well as others and his blood test came up negative. But I put him on a gluten-free diet anyway. It has been almost two weeks and I have already seen improvement. He isn't so hungry or tired anymore. He is getting away with shorter naps and later bedtimes and doesn't seem to be suffering from it. If I were you I wouldn't rely on...
  5. The most recent information I read were the studies reported above about doing it between 4 and 6 months, but I think that doesn't work so well if you are not nursing. But in addition to that I read that if you really want to be safe wait until at least 12 months. Those studies just said between 4 and 6 is better than 7, but didn't mention older than that...
  6. Does anyone know if gluten is expressed in breast milk? I think my toddler has celiac and I have a new baby due any day. I intend to keep her off gluten for the first year, but I'm not sure if I should avoid it while I am nursing her or if it is okay for me to eat it.
  7. This all sounds exactly like my 17 month old. His blood test came up negative, but I can't deny the symptoms so I've put him on a gluten free (I hope I've eliminated it all!) diet anyway. What I want to know is, how long does it take for the grainy diapers and other symptoms to go away?
  8. I posted earlier that I suspect my 17 month old son has celiac and I was going to just take him off gluten and wait to have him tested. But a friend of mine really recommends that I do the screening. He hasn't had gluten for two days (as far as I know), but I know the test shows up negative if they haven't been eating it. Do you know how long it takes for...
  9. My son is almost 17 months old. I have suspected that he has celiac disease on and off for awhile, but I think I'm really convinced this time. My husband's sister has the disease although she didn't find out until she was 20 years old. There is no record of it on my side of the family but I have an autoimmune disease that affects my thyroid and eyes, which...
