  1. Bernadette actually started some gluten free diets several years ago, but didn't understand that gluten is basiclaly in everything. She gave up bread/cereal/donuts/pie and the things that look like gluten. Not until this past year or so has she been close to 100% gluten free - JenVan gave her a challenge "to not eat anything unless you know it is gluten...
  2. i GUESS WHAT i MEANT TO SAY WAS SHE DRINKS LACTOSE FREE MILK, TAKES DAIRY PILLS IF NEEDED FOR ICE CREAM - BUT SHE DOES EAT YOGURT.
  3. She has never been formally diagnosed with anything. Milk always caused upset stomach and diarrhea - so we just quit eating that stuff. She has never been tested for anything else. How much did your tests cost through this other place? I'm sorry I have not had time to look at that web site yet. I'll be done with school in a little bit, so hope to check...
  4. Okay, to answer all the questions Bernadette is gluten free - self diagnosd. After 12 years of pain this is what we had to do to feel better. We are NOT GOING TO eat wheat to get a diagnosis. She is lactose intolerant we know that for sure. Dairy gives her diarrhea - although she can handle yoplait yogurt and lactose free milk. The casein part - not...
  5. Okay - this past week we have had: Chicken Fried Steaks - rice flour mix Mixed frozen veggies with gluten/dairy free margarine Lettuce/Carrotts at almost every night meal Tinkyada Pasta with Ragu sauce and canned mushrooms Jambalaya with Hillshire Farm smoked sausage/frozen shrimp/canned tomatoes and other fresh veggies Soft peanut brittle - homemade...
  6. Please give me info/site and cost of those interolab tests. Maybe I should get one of those to see if there are other intolerances we don't know about? Mr. BamBam
  7. I forgot to mention that she has to eat both dairy free and gluten free and that leaves out so much in the regular world. I've given up gluten with her, but I can eat cheese and other fun stuff and she feels so left out. Mr BamBam
  8. We are really struggling right now - and I just need some friendly messages from you guys to tell her that other people are going through this to. I hope someone else has gone through this anyway. She is not eating well, losing weight, she feels she is not welcomed at many places because of her diet. Her main problem though is her irregularity, she is so...
  9. Thanks for all of your suggestions. She had a bm today, finally, and she is drinking more liquid and eating more veggies, she loves carrots, so that is one thing she is eating every day, I should say adding to her regular meals. I read JenVan's articles on constipation. I don't know if she is constipated or just irregular. She has no sensations at all...
  10. Right now her major problem is constipation. She told me today she has only pooped a few times this month and her insides are hurting, so we need to get things moving again without causing the diarrhea that she gets from laxatives.
  11. And I suppose we should start this slowly, adding the fiber? Thank you for the responses already, I was reading another area and realized I already had responses.
  12. My wife, BamBam, was sick for many years with diarrhea, constipation and everything in between. Now we are just trying to get "regular." Does anyone have any advice on trying to get a body regular? In the past it was any time day or night, real urgency most of the time. Now we have the system quieted down, thanks to being gluten free, just would like...
  13. HOT TAMALES ARE SAFE AREN;T THEY?
  14. Could someone please explain the mental issues that can happen with gluten intolerance? I have some severe mood swings, and I wonder if it is gluten. I am talking major mood swings, too the point of needing therapy. BamBam
  15. What about grapefruit juice in general. I do not know what brnad I drank, but has anybody had problems with it. BAM
  16. I've licked two envelopes this past week and have been having some problems. What are the chances of gluten being in the glue? BamBam
  17. I'm having anxiety attacks this week and just need to get some encouragement. I am working a job that is going to get very fast paced and almost too hard for one person to handle. I have been gluten free for quite a while now and am feeling better, but do the bathroom blues ever go away. I still scope out bathrooms, don't like to work by myself just in...
  18. My husband brought home some holiday flavors of coffeemate. In general, is that gluten free or not?
  19. As we go full throttle into the cold and flu season maybe we could mention what products are gluten free and what works best for each of us. I use a lot of Tylenol meds and I believe Nyquil is also safe to use. My question though is, is there any sore throat lozenges that are gluten free? BamBam
  20. Jusicy Fruit gum is the only weird thing that I have eaten in the last few weeks. Today my system is all upset again, and was wondering if anyone has had bad luck with it? BAM It could also be the aspartame in it. I haven't chewed gum in ages.
  21. My husband just returned from a big trip to the National FFA Convention in Louiseville, Kentucky and on the way home they stopped at "Cabella's" Store in Nebraska. He bought me four dark chocolate candy bars that have butterfat. He reads ingredients and looks for milk, but sometimes he forgets about other milk sounding ingredients. Can I have butterfat...
  22. I work in a clinic and have to be very careful about information I give to people. One gal gives me all the symptoms of celiac, she basically has lost her life to the bathroom and just feeling rotten. We visited and I told her about how my life was changed by going gluten free. I explained many of the things about going gluten free. She does not have...
  23. I stopped at Grandma Ferdon's while on vacation this past summer. I did not buy any of her premade items, as all her stuff has dairy in it. Or most of it does anyway. However, I did buy her buttermilk bread mix (I used my lactose free milk with a little bit of vinegar in it to sour it) and several other mixes - pancake, waffle, a coating mix and a bisquit...
  24. Thanks for your response. I believe the Centrum vitamins are okay. I've stopped eating/digesting all three items. I will try each one separately and see what happens. I've eaten the fritos but sometimes I think corn is the problem. Anyway, I think it may be the cookies. I have them in a drawer at my other job and I ate one Tuesday evening and one Thursday...
  25. This past week I have eated some Fritos, some of Pamela's gluten free cookies, and I started taking Centrum vitamins. And of course I do this all on the same day and I get sharp pain through my abdomen. Like one person described it, "it's like pieces of glass going through my system." I also have lower flank pain, I was tested for UTI but was clean. ...
