Ive been gluten-free for months, so thats not a problem but very shortly I am starting a detox/cleanse diet to try and re-build my body with good bacteria and starve out my yeast infection....(on the recommendation of my natropath).... Ive been gluten-free since May and even when im super strict with it, I find I still have problems: constipation, fatigue, stomach cramps, nausea, feels like my throat is swollen, lower back pain, headaches etc.... I think I may have a Candida problem (white...

wilem008 replied to wilem008's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks guys. Getting practical advice and knowing you're not alone is really helpful. I feel really dumb/silly trying to explain why I feel depressed. Even admitting it is hard. I know a lot of people dont believe me and I am worried i'll get labled with depression or with bi-polar. I know its gluten. As soon as I mess up on my diet I feel it... -

Tomorrow I am going in to hospital for an colonoscopy and an endoscopy. (I have never had these procedures done before) They are testing for celiac amongst other things. ARCHIVED Should I Deliberately Gluten Myself
wilem008 replied to wilem008's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Its taken me a long time to get to this stage of testing. The first doctor I had, totally dismissed celiac and said it was IBS and that there was NOTHING that could be done about it. I stopped seeing him. His problem was that I dont get diarrhoea, I get the total opposite. The doctor I moved on to has been much better. She sent me off to get allergy tests... -
ARCHIVED How I Know I Got Glutened...
wilem008 replied to mamaesq's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My symptoms generally last a few days. Initially I will have a few hours of stomach aches/cramps followed by two-three days of headaches, irritability and depression. I'll also have constipation for a week. Does anyone else find this? My biggest symptom (aside from stomach aches and constipation) is depression. I know if ive been glutened becuase the... -
Its amazing how many people out there dont understand what it means to have a wheat allergy - and arent even aware of what foods contain wheat! I live in Australia and recently went on an awesome holiday with my best mate to America! We booked a bus tour to the Grand Canyon (from Vegas) and the tour price included a sandwich and snacks for lunch. I...

wilem008 replied to wilem008's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah, good point. I know i'll feel crappy if I mess up on my diet. Im just going to stick with it. My doctor(s) havent really advised anything. They dont believe that I need to be on this diet. Everytime I explain that I feel better when i dont eat gluten, they look at me with totaly disbelief. Its quite frustrating. Its taken me ages to get them to... -
ARCHIVED Should I Deliberately Gluten Myself
wilem008 replied to wilem008's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Im getting these proceedures done for several reasons. Ive had every blood test done, had my liver, kidneys, allergies, glucose checked - everything has been checked. Ive had ct scans, holter monitors....everything. Im still getting symptoms. Stomach aches, nausea, fatigue, headaches, constipation etc. So, the doctors dont really know what else to do... -
I have been gluten free since May this year and in about a month I am scheduled to have a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. Do you think I should slowly start eating gluten? Im worried that (if I am celiac) my body will have started to heal internally and the signs of celiac (flattened villi etc) wont be visable. But im also worried that if I start eating...

ARCHIVED Wow, People Really Don't Get It...
wilem008 replied to samcarter's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Recently I tried to book a tour with an American tour company. The price of the tour included lunch (a choice of chicken, beef or turkey sandwich, a muffin and a piece of fruit). I asked the operator if he could organise something else for lunch as I cant eat wheat. He replied with: "Hmm, the rolls are wholmeal. What if we make the sandwiches with... -

ARCHIVED Starting To Stress Over Going To My Parents For Chirstmas
wilem008 replied to Blessings's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oooh, the buffets in Vegas are a killer! I was there about a month ago - with a group of friends. Of course they all wanted to go to a buffet (we went twice over our 4 day stay). I went along because I didnt want to make a fuss, didnt want to be difficult. I suffered so badly - there was nothing gluten free at the buffet apart from baked potatoes and... -
I have seen two general practice doctors and a gastro enterologist about my stomach trouble.... All 3 have said that celiac is NOT a possibility for me because I dont get diahroea, I get constipation. They keep telling me this despite the fact that I am now gluten free and have never felt better! My gastro doctor is suggesting I get an endoscopy...

I cheat on my diet all the time and I suffer for it! Its stupid I know but when I went gluten free I had to cut out all the foods I love - especially bread!
