  1. I have been strictly gluten-free since college. Some of my problems got much better, psychiatric sx, wasting, severe acne, severe bone pain. It almost seems like now I have more health issues. Lately I have still been having acne, joint pain the moves around a lot, severe colon and stomach pains, liver, spleen and kidney pain, insomnia and NO libido. I have...
  2. Someone should make a play on the Nutrisystem plan and call it Free From Glutrasystem. I'd pay for pre-portioned gluten-free meals aimed at weight loss.
  3. I am in need of some more recipes that don't involve a dehydrator that has temp settings. I have one that is a piece of work. I have tried some soups that were good, just did some cookies that were ok, I do berry and green smoothies with raw farm eggs in them, but what else? Oh, the banana ice cream is great. What can I do with eggplant? I really am...
  4. Yes the SCDiet is the specific carbohydrate diet for people with celiacs, ulcerative colitis, crohn's etc. It heals the gut by taking complex carbs out of the mix completely along with lactose. Lactase is often the first enzyme to stop being produced when there is villi damage...why alot of celiacs are lactose intolerant. Anyway, you can look the basic plan...
  5. I am having a few issues: my hair is falling out majorly I am having hypoglycemic fits still I am fatigued all the time I am cold sensitive I have no libido I have weight gain that I can't lose I have been told this is all related to endocrine problems most likely. Is anyone else having these problems? What have been some prescribed treatments...
  6. Yup, kids have to learn by experience sometimes just like the rest of us. Despite warnings older kids will gluten themselves. I would make it very clear to her that this is her own doing and that her pain and agitation is a consequence of eating gluten. On another note, I understand the temptation to eat things you really like that everyone else can eat....
  7. Definitely this is related to the Celiacs. I have always had horrendous leg pain that started also in my joints. Your poor daughter. The docs couldn't figure out what was wrong and always just prescribed painmeds. If your daughter is gluten-free she should not be having these pains so either her gut is not healing very quickly or she is getting contaminated...
  8. Since many of us are lactose intolerant and soy is a really unhealthy alternative, here is a coconut milk ice cream recipe that could not be easier. 1 can of Port Arthur or other coconut milk whatever treats you like in your ice cream just put the can of coconut milk in your fridge until you don't hear sloshing when you shake the can pour the contents...
  9. My sister has/had them, almost exactly what your daughter is showing. She will do well on a strict gluten free diet. I always recommend the Specific Carbohydrate Diet for people in such a bad state as your daughter. You can google it to find out more. My sister had such bad menstrual problems, endometriosis and cysts that she was told she would be infertile...
  10. That's odd, I thought I had already replied to this post. You absolutely have an option in the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. I recommend it highly. It is a gut healing diet for Celiacs, Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis and is now being used for Autism and Schizophrenia. It takes all of the hard to digest foods out of the diet and only leaves the very easy ones,...
  11. OMG, NO!!! You should not be taking this, esp during the most important trimester in your babies development. All you have to do is google Dapsone and you'll see that the research either contraindicates the Dapsone during preg/lact or says they are not sure it is safe. I know the DH is painful but you have to suck it up for your baby. My sister is experiencing...
  12. Yikes. With the unreliability of celiac disease testing I would not, not, not, eat gluten while pregnant if you don't KNOW you are NOT a celiac. The reproductive and gestational implications of doing so if you do have celiac disease are serious. Some of these include spontaneous abortion, low birth weight, premature labor, and shortened duration of lactation...
  13. I have been gluten-free for quite a long time now, 5 years or so, and am still having health problems. I decided to try the SCDiet and it helped tremendously--this is a gut healing diet. But now that I know what it feels like to be moderately healthy I want to be truly healthy. I have not been eating sugar or grains, and have been buying organic, whole farm...
  14. I don't have weight to lose but I overeat on a regular basis...not lightly either (3000 or so cal/day). I have had to abstain from the gluten-free things I know I cannot eat just a little of. gluten-free processed foods tend to be even more processed than non-gluten-free stuff and just as bad for you. I follow the SCD diet, you can google it. The only things...
  15. My sister is gluten-free and breastfeeding. She has been broken out terribly since giving birth and would like to use something to relieve her pain. What is safe to use while BFing? Everything topical I have heard of and looked up are not safe or have not been studied.
