  1. Have you considered trying the Specific Carbohydrate Diet? It's very limited but has helped my daughter much more than just gluten-free. I would highly recommend reading Breaking the Vicious Cycle--type that title in on google and you will find a website and lots of info. I find that just going gluten free is unfortunately not enough sometimes, with my daughter...
  2. I'm sorry. I just reread your post and realized your daughter isn't 2 yet.
  3. I didn't have time to read all the replies, but I will say that my daughter (Miriam, 2), doesn't drink milk at all. We do the specific carbohydrate diet with her for the most part. For a while she drank almond milk, but she quit liking it so now she just gets her calcium from the 24-hr yogurt. But I realize your daughter can't have dairy so that's out. Personally...
  4. I would have the blood test done first. My daughter was tested at 15 months and was through the roof positive. If you are going to go 100% gluten free, I recommend transitioning to fruit for snacks. That has worked the best for us. Occassionally, Miriam has one of the envirokidz cereals (koala crisp, panda puffs, gorilla munch) or a gluten-free cookie, but...
  5. Is she 100% gluten free? She sounds a lot like my daughter at that age. It was celiac and she was very sick until she went 100% gluten free. She drank soy milk, too for about 6 months after we got the diagnosis. I thought it was better than dairy. Anyway, I ended up taking her off of it and she did much better without the soy.
  6. My 2-yr old has celiac. She still had stage 3 damage after 6 months on the diet. I have made a lot of changes, one of which was taking her off of soy milk. I saw instant changes in her poop after I stopped giving her soy milk and switched to almond milk--more solid, darker, more normal looking stool. We are now doing the specific carbohydrate diet and I make...
  7. This is a great concern of mine, especially since my daughter had an episode of hypotonic shock after her DTaP vaccine. I have read that a particular protein in it (perlactin?) is very similar to gluten and the body could react the same...we are not vaccinating anymore. My daughter got sick after her last vaccine (Hib in Dec) and started throwing up frequently...
  8. This is exactly what my daughter did. She would just wake up and throw up in her crib one or two nights per week. She quit as soon as we went gluten-free.
  9. There is a support group/class that meets at Wild Oats once a month. It meets this month (June) next Monday night at 7:00.
  10. So did your daugther get checked at 3 months after diagnosis? Cause that's how long it's been for us and it seems a little too early for numbers to drop for me...Do you mind telling me what her level was at 6 months after diagnosis?
  11. Okay, mouth. Sorry. I am an idiot. You are the one who started this thread and you've already told us your daughter's numbers! Sorry! This gives me comfort.
  12. So what is your daughter's tTG level now?
  13. I am bumping this up hoping more of you will please share with me what your child's tTG level was at diagnosis, and how much it dropped in how long. Please!
  14. Congratulations. I know you must feel awesome with that great news. My toddler was dx'd in early march. Her test just read greater than 100 then, and when we retested last week, it was still greater than 100. So I am hoping to have some good news in a few more months. I was wondering the same thing about how long it takes for healing.
  15. I had a very positive blood test but didn't do the scope. I just eat gluten-free along with my toddler. Unfortunately, I live in MS and it is one of the few states that doesn't allow any exemptions other than medical for vaccinantion. I am so disgusted by doctors at this point...I just am so sick of them seeming to only be concerned with shots. I would love...
  16. Thank you both so much for your replies. I was very happy about her improvement before the follow-up appointment. I do give her soy milk and she gets dairy from yogurt and cheese. It's such a challenge to get her to eat period and these three things are what she wants mostly. I can't really bear the thought of having to eliminate soy and dairy as well as...
  17. My baby is 21 months old. She was tested three months ago and her ttg level came back as greater than 100. We have been gluten-free (as far as I know) since then. She was retested last week and I was so hopeful that her level would be down, but it wasn't. It was still greater than 100. The test doesn't read anything above 100, so it appears as though nothing...
  18. I couldn't believe when I read your post how similar our situations are. I have a 21-month old who has been diagnosed with celiac. She has had intestinal issues since birth. I have not wanted to vaccinate her since the beginning (just an uneasy mommy-instinct thing that research confirmed). I did allow her to get her 2-month and 4-month shots. She passed...
