ARCHIVED Looking For Motivational Improvement Stories
Live2BWell posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So I am looking for some motivational/positive "improvement" stories - how have you improved since going Gluten free. Has the improvement been significant? What was the before and the after? I am not even sure I have gluten intolerance, but what I am sure of is that I am not healthy - and no matter what I do have, I need to take better care of myself... -

ARCHIVED Saw The Gi Doc Today
Live2BWell replied to Live2BWell's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So what exactly does the sigmoidoscopy detect/diagnose? Is an endoscopy something that a person can request? -
Are sleep studies covered by Medicare?

ARCHIVED Saw The Gi Doc Today
Live2BWell posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hey Guys, so I had my first appointment with a GI doctor today. He took my history, and what's been going on, and said he wants me to have a Sigmoidoscopy and an H-Pylori breath test (I have a history of H-Pylori, which is why he wants to do that test again.) As for the Sigmoidoscopy, I wasn't going to the GI doctor specifically for Celiac and/or Gluten... -
ARCHIVED Can Gluten Sensitivity Be Self-induced
Live2BWell replied to Live2BWell's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
ShayFL Wow, ShayFL, thanks for sharing! My B/P foods were also very high in gluten. Crazy high, actually. I actually nevergave it much thought prior to recently. Congrats on your recovery, BTW! It is indeed debilitating. -
I so hear you ! If I could I would stay in bed for that long, but I can't My mind has a hard time quieting down too, most of the time. I have sleeping meds, and I also used aromatherapy and relaxation music if I anticipate having too difficult of a time (and they do help some.)

Live2BWell replied to Live2BWell's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
gfpaperdoll Yum, sounds good to me! Do they have gluten free ? LOL MSAU22 Thanks for clearing that up! I know I hear so much about all these different types of "diets" or "lifestyles" ~ it can seriously be mind-boggling home_based_mom Thanks for the info, definitely helpful for a noob like me Rachel--24 Ok, I didn't know if it was subjective... -
ARCHIVED Can Gluten Sensitivity Be Self-induced
Live2BWell posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I struggled with Anorexia and Bulimia for about 12 years, and have been recovered for 3 years (gratefully so!) Having struggled so long, and so severely, and knowing I have not walked away completely unscathed ~ I can't help but to wonder, can Gluten Sensitivity be a direct (or indirect) result of the damage and trauma i put my body through with the eating... -
Pardon my ignorance in this, but is Gluten unhealthy or "bad" for someone who doesn't have Celiac or some type of allergy or sensitivity to Gluten? I am just learning about Gluten Intolerance and from what I understand Gluten-free is much more "natural" and less processed (on the same lines as organic foods it seems?) but I could be mistaken or misinterpreting...

I am always exhausted. Always. I rarely feel "rested" - it doesn't matter if I get 3 hours of sleep or 13 hours, I feel exhausted. I almost always want to sleep, and when I do get up I don't want to get up becuase I am so tired. Ofcourse, I do get up because I have to, but that only leads to the perpetual cycle of exhaustion. I feel like I am almost...

ARCHIVED Abnormal Results
Live2BWell replied to Live2BWell's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks, Teresa! I was originally Dx with "Pre-Diabetes" (shortly after I had my wisdom teeth out) and told that my thyroid levels were "a bit off but nothing to be concerned about." I began feeling a little better after I was put on medication for the insulin resistance, however after I had my tonsilectomy, my life (and my health) completely fell apart... -
I have started reading "Gluten Free Living For Dummies" and so far, I really like it. It's actually made me go from hoping with every fiber in my being that I do NOT need to adhere to any type of gluten free lifestyle, to thinking that maybe it's not as horrible as I am assuming it to be. I am certainly not jumping for joy, but atleast I'm not feeling as...

ARCHIVED Abnormal Results
Live2BWell posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So I've been playing the yo-yo game with doctors. It's quite frustrating, to say the least. Not only that, but many of my results always come back abnormal [but when I address it, it gets shrugged off as not a big deal OR, in the current case, I have gotten no explination whatsoever.] I have tried to get additonal tests ordered, but I am assured the tests... -

Thank you again for your helpful and supportive replies, you have no idea how grateful I am MissysMom ~ I have that site bookmarked on my explorer. I have looked at some of it, and thus far it HAS been helpful, thank you! I'll definitely be referring to it more often (it is so helpful, infact, I haven't been able to sit down and go through it all!... -
ARCHIVED Cannot Control My Cheating...please Help.
Live2BWell replied to LadyCyclist87's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have not yet been diagnosed with Celiac [but am fairly certain I have it.] I do, however, have an autoimmune disease, as well Diabetes - so, as for the "cheating," I can relate (I do cheat with my sugar and carbs. I justify my cheating because my diabetes is very well managed and I am in the non-diabetic range) and I also have used food for emotional gratification... -
ARCHIVED Hashimotos Thyroiditis?
Live2BWell replied to Live2BWell's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks for your replies everyone! I am so new to being diagnosed and understanding Hashimotos (and unfortunately the doctors who are supposed to be treating me, aren't aiding in my becoming well) so ... I am not only still sick, I am also really confused and frustrated. What is the correlation between Hashis, Diabetes, and Gluten/Wheat intolerance? And... -
Hi Guys, I posted on the pre-diagnosis board, but I thought I'd come over this way and see if anyone else has Hashimotos [i was Dx with Insulin Resistance in 2006 and Hashimotos about 6 months ago] I have not yet been diagnosed with Celiac, but am fairly certain I have something going on

Do they have any easy to follow beginning books about Celiac and/or Gluten Free living? Maybe a "Celiac for Dummies" or "The Idiots Guide to Gluten Free Living"

I am in a suburb of Houston, I have not yet been diagnosed but am just feeling the waters, so to speak, because I'm struggling with the concept that I may indeed have Celiac Any individuals or support groups in the Houston area? Thanks

ARCHIVED Kind Of New To This, But Still Not Sure Where To Start
Live2BWell replied to christyb's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am new to the forum too, and new to the concept of Gluten Intolerance/Celiac [i have not been diagnosed yet, but I am almost certain I'm dealing with it.] I empathize with your denial/diagnoses blues - and I haven't even been diagnosed yet, but the whole concept does feel paralyzing, doesn't it? I don't have much advice to offer you, but having... -
ARCHIVED Something's Very Wrong
Live2BWell replied to Live2BWell's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Missy'sMom ~ Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it I am [not-so-pleasantly] surprised that doctors are not more thorough. It's indeed a tragedy, as I think there is so much needless suffering that people go through because doctors seem conditioned to focus on a very narrow part of the big picture. Your sister's story is amazing, and... -
ARCHIVED Something's Very Wrong
Live2BWell posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello Board, I am new here, this is my first post. I am a 28 year old female, and I believe I might have celiac disease. I say that with a grain of salt, because after having suffered with a smorgasboard of health problems, I'm not sure what I have (and I'm not confident the doctors know either.) Where do I begin? Well, I suppose I'll start from the...
