  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. Last week I made a recipe out of "The New Glucose Revolution Low GI Gluten-Free Eating Made Easy: The Essential Guide to the Glycemic Index and Gluten-Free Living" book, and the recipe had Amaranth in it. I had never used Amaranth before, but this recipe in particular made me pretty sick and I was unable to digest the amaranth at all Any ideas why...
  3. I picked up a "Natural Awakenings" magazine yesterday when I was out and about, and to my pleasant surprise I saw an ad for a place called "Pizza Fusion" - on the ad it said "Celiac Friendly Options" and listed Gluten Free Pizza, Beer, and Brownies If you live in Houston, you can probably empathize with the poor selection of "dining out" options that...
  4. I have perpetually swollen lymph nodes, mostly the ones in my neck and under my arms. I too get really bad headaches, sinus drainage, drippy nose, coldness, and sometimes a fever. Although this happens intermittently, I have noticed that my lymph nodes get especially swollen and sensitive when I am grinding my teeth (I have TMJ.) I get a very dry scratchy...
  5. (( Hugs )) Getting accustomed to gluten free living is difficult! At diagnosis my weight was 211 (I am just over 5'7) and after diagnosis my weight seemed to go up overnight. Within four months my weight was at 240! I am now balancing out and trying to pay closer attention to how eating gluten free fits into healthy and balanced nutritional intake....
  6. Hi there, I wanted to respond to your thread because this may be of help. I was diagnosed with having Hashimotos Thyroiditis. Interestingly enough, my thyroid tests didn't come back "that bad" and my doctor said that I didn't have much of a thyroid problem and to just "keep an eye on it." Several months later I was physically a mess, one of the more...
  7. I think that is an excellent idea! Funny because here I am scrolling through posts to find recipes for making a gluten free eating plan
  8. Thank you for your wonderful suggestions and support! missy'smom, You have an excellent system it seems, and great suggestions. I will try to adapt some of your suggestions and advice. I have a hard time with organization and such (I am really a.d.d. and struggle a great deal as it is.) Thanks again guys, keep the suggestions coming
  9. That really IS a great idea (and a very, very cool project!) My best ideas would say to make it versatile for populations of gluten and gluten free folks. Maybe in the project set aside a small space for food prep to where it's separate from food prep around gluten, as cross contamination is a huge issue. Another cool idea is to have a bi-annual gluten...
  10. I have a website/domain and am going to be adding a blog through Open Original Shared Link I am very happy with them. It's pretty inexpensive, you get great freebie add ons, and they offer 24/7 technical support
  11. I too have very severe sleep problems and have since childhood. I struggled with Anorexia and Bulimia for 12 years (I have been recovered for 3 years) My sleep problems have continued to various degrees over the years. Today, I still have to take sleep medication most nights to sleep. I have major restless leg syndrome, TMJ, and a slew of other sleep disturbances...
  12. Hello Everyone! I was Dx late last year and I am still struggling to find balance with the diagnosis. At the beginning I went through a brief phase to where I was completely clueless and depressed. I went through a rather long period to where I felt very motivated and optimistic about things improving and being gluten free. For the last two months or...
  13. Good luck at the Gyn (( Hugs )) I don't know if your problems could be related to going gluten free, I would think it could be the opposite (maybe you had the problems, but having the proper nutrition finally by going gluten free has now enabled them to reveal themselves?) I have a friend who had endometriosis, and had a lot of problems with her...
  14. Thank you all for all your replies! I stopped taking that particular one, and sure enough I began to clear up (the next day was noticably better) and I began feeling a big better to

  16. I have to say I am proud (and impressed) with my first Gluten Free Thanksgiving. It was a success, yummy and didn't get sick. Yay

  18. I was Dx with Hashimotos a year ago (give or take.) It's been a LONG healing process, and I have come to understand that treating autoimmune thyroid and healing is nothing like treating/healing hypothyroidism even though the medication is the same. It's been a complicated process. Hang in there! I am on 100mcg of Synthroid and recently dignosed Celiac...
  19. I am also pre-diabetic, and the carbohydrates are a major issue especially considering that many speciality celiac foods are loaded with carbs. I limit my carb intake as much as possible, because carbohydrates are worse than actual sugar when it comes to diabetes. Also following the glycemic index. It's best to stay with foods that are below 70-75ish on...
  20. I am subscribed to the feed, and this article was posted. It's a great article about Celiac Disease and Thyroid Disorders https://www.celiac.com/articles/21704/1/Cel...ders/Page1.html
  21. So I chose PF changs the other night, haven't been for their gluten free stuff yet... and I was VERY happy with everything. The food was excellent, I felt great, and I even got to have a Redbridge to boot (Gluten free beer!) It was funny because when I ordered the Redbridge, the waitress had no idea what I was talking about, and I had to point out that...
  22. Just visiting for the weekend, in December... Any Gluten free must-knows in that area (good grocery stores or dining out) Thanks
  23. So, I recently saw a naturopath, and have begun doing natural/alternative type medicine to wean away from traditional medicine. Well, everything I got was (or so I assumed) gluten free, but I began breaking out with DH (what I know now, is from being glutened). So I re-read all my labels, and there is one product that had wheat grass and barley grass...
  24. Another auto-immuner here (at the risk of sounding... complainish - autoimmune diseases suck!) I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis, Celiac Disease, Fibromyalgia.. I also have type II diabetes
